All set for another year here at Mount Edgcumbe to look after the wellbeing of our lovely visitors as the team are put through their paces during our annual defibrillator training with the amazing Steve Matthews from the South Western Ambulance Service.
Patient as ever, Steve makes sure we are all trained with up to the minute life saving techniques so we can use the defibrillator machine safely should the need arise. He even makes sure we sing ‘Nellie the Elephant’ at the right speed for the compressions 😁
The day is so beautiful and sunny that we managed to hold the training outside in the Earl's Garden – not a bad setting really!

What a fantastic opportunity 😁

These pens made by local craftsman Kevin Witts are unique in the world.
They are available to purchase from the shop at Mount Edgcumbe House.
Each one is hand made using fallen timber found here in the grounds of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park which has been passed on (by our Rangers) to Kevin to work his magic.
... Kevin’s fountain pens (like the one shown here) are turned from pieces of the Cork Oak located near the House. The Cork Oak was planted in the 1770’s and is among the largest found in Europe.
Kevin has also made us biros, a pen and pencil set, beautiful light pulls and wine stoppers.
Nice one Kevin.

Wonderful visit yesterday with members of Plympton & District Civic Society. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers who made our visit such a memorable one. We shall be coming back as there just wasn't enough time to see everything. We are so lucky to have such a gem on our doorstep.

Wonderful day out. Lovely walk through the park with views of Plymouth Sound. Delicious afternoon tea at the Orangery. House made a nice change from darker old houses that you often visit (we said we could make ourselves at home). We enjoyed dressing up in the house and having our photos taken. Staff everywhere were very helpful and knowledgeable (particularly in the house). Would recommend.

What a place!!! And better still, what a place to stay!!! Having fancied the sound of glamping in this corner of south east Cornwall, we booked a Shepherd's Hut on the site at Mount Edgcumbe, and though concerned we would still be 'roughing' it compared with a lodge, this could not have been further from the truth!!

The Hut itself was brilliantly equipped with everything we needed to hand.....the bedding was beautiful cosy crisp cotton and the beds themselves extremely comfortable. I slept in them all having shared with my toddler at least one night of the four we stayed!! and we stayed an extra night, finding the whole situation so blissful........

The Huts themselves are beautifully crafted wood and the interior a perfect finish - locally made curtains with character which blocked out the morning light and attention to detail in all finishes. On top of this there were loads of original games, books and magazines from the 50's to give the place that extra feel of being somewhere far from home. Saying that, the Hut was well lit with solar powered lights at night and had a usb charger. The awning-covered kitchen area outside allowed for full self catering and the fire owl was a bonus. We could not have asked for more.

There is so much to do on site - the house is full of interesting art and history, the museum side of the estate fascinating, and the cafe was a delight. We are fussy about our lattes!! All the food we tried was good quality (sandwich lunch and a cooked breakfast) ....

There is a beach, a forest, a wealth of different coastal views, and all within walking distance of our lovely little Hut, which itself had gorgeous views out to Plymouth in the east and the bridge into Cornwall in the distance.....

We had a brilliant time, and with a young son in tow too, we now know we can return with him at any age and enjoy the many more activities (segway / circus training / watersports for a start) that are either on the site or very local....

Loved it. Can't wait to go back.

We recently got married at Mount Edgcumbe! What an amazing, stunning venue. Marie-Claire was so helpful, from start to finish. I loved that the marquee was a blank canvas so we could put our own touches into the venue. Communication was brilliant and all my questions were answered quickly, and efficiently. Mount Edgcumbe has always been our dream venue and we are so pleased to have been married there. The house was so grand, yet intimate. The ceremony was perfect and we enjoyed the beautiful grounds for photos. Would HIGHLY recommend Mount Edgcumbe as a venue for your special day. Cannot thank everyone enough. A day we will always remember and a place we can continue to visit to relive those special memories. Emily and Matt x

We just had our daughter’s wedding at Mount Edgecombe Park and it was fantastic; the staff, the grounds and the house were all amazing. There were garden games in the East Lawn, the wedding in the actual house and the marquee looked amazing -

Nothing was too much trouble and every little detail was taken care of and they were so patient with all the toddlers as well as all the adults. I can’t thank them enough. Marie-Claire was outstanding and I take my hat off to her. An amazing venue

My family and I visited the house and gardens for the first time on Thursday 27 July. The lady who greeted us inside the house was warm and friendly, asking if there was anything we would like her to look after whilst we wandered around the house. She explained what was available in each room. We never once felt hurried. The kids really enjoyed the dressing up room. We were allowed to take photos everywhere within the house and the staff were willing to take family/group shots for visitors. The views of the bay were stunning, as were the gardens. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.

Love going here for some chill out time with the dog. It’s got amazing grounds and a lovely little beach that the dog can swim in! Theres also a pub just around the corner that does really nice food!

User

I walk here twice a day... the wildlife and the views are superb! A treat for the eyes and tranquillity of the soul... great for dog walkers and picnics or just for a breath of fresh air!

User

A tranquil oasis of calm and natural beauty ,stunning surroundings , hidden gems and surprises around every corner

User

The park itself is excellent. Nice place to just chill out but whatever you do don't go to the pub at the ferry drop off unless you've just won the lottery. £13 for two G&T's😡

User

The show itself was good but some cars were definitely not classics - a focus convertible for instance should not be in a show - but a good selection of nice cars and I might show next year - the traffic and parking organisation however is a complete joke both in and out - routing people to a

Narrow coast road competing with buses etc was ridiculous - parking was too slow and getting out was even slower with pedestrians being allowed to cross in front of Exiting cars - needs much better organisation!

User

Really disappointed with Mount Edgcumbe this weekend. We have been many times before and really enjoyed the grounds and gardens previously. However this weekend there was a wedding in the orangery. This meant they closed the toilets to the public.

My mum is disabled and finds it difficult to hold herself. She can not use steps at all. This is one of the reasons we choose mount edgecombe as we has been before and knew what facilities would be available.

The staff took no responsibility and told us to go back and forth between the orangery and the shop. This was not ideal as there were steps at the back of the shop which meant the toilet was unsuitable for my mum. In the end we were left no option but to use the toilets at the top of the hill in the house. It was very frustrating.

An enjoyable afternoon but very inconvenienced.
