The River are a brand new Indie Rock band. Formed in early 2018 the band is buzzing with energy both on and off the stage. Hailing from South West London (all living by 'The River' Thames) expect to hear rousing choruses inspired by bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peace and Wolf Alice.
Big Smile Revival bonded as musicians through a mutual love of strange chords, sudden tempo changes and the ongoing search for guitar strings that don't break. Their style encompasses a my...riad of sounds and moods that paint a picture of life in Bristol and of life on this pale blue dot called Earth.
Jemma Roper is the former frontperson of Sammo Hung and then Heck. She is now the frontperson of herself? Based in Cardiff where the band have firmly established themselves on the South Wales music scene with their brand of psych-infused post-punk.

Went on Thursday night and at two seperate points the bouncers were great! Once when a man came up to me and smacked my arse with as much force as his impotent little self could muster, then when I asked him why he thought he could touch me like that, he squared up to me and told me to fuck off. Once he realised I wasn't going to back down he told me to fuck off and went outside, I told the bouncers what happened and without hesitation or heavy questioning they got me to confirm who it was and told me not to worry and asked him to leave. And then later on that night a man grabbed my friend by the arm aggressively to get her to pay attention to him and another bouncer asked him to leave and watched and made sure we were okay as the man got his stuff and swore at us on his way out! Thanks for making sure we had a nice night out dancing with as little harassment as possible! It's dead lush feeling safe on a night out! Love you mr wolfs xoxoxo

User

We played here for the first time on Monday and it's already one of my favourite venues. Great communication, lovely staff and promoter who all value and look after the musicians who play there and a really great vibe to perform to. We'll definitely be back!

User

We danced.. we drank... we laughed.... we listened to the talented open mic peeps... all in all.. an amazing night out... Cheers guys... hopefully see you again soon xxx

User

There was a very attractive lady named Lucy at Mr Wolfs tonight, she was modelling a rainbow feather bower.

Lucy let’s go for a pint yeah? One love

User

Since mr wolf's has moved it's dramatically improved, really good gigs and good size to get a dance on :-)

User

LOVE these guys! They rep Bristol so well and do the music scene proud. From the best nights to endless amounts of support, long live Mr Wolf's

User

I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.I like it.

User

Fantastic and maintains its vibe despite the relocation. A great place for live music, noodles and interesting drinks, including my favourite Monkey Shoulder, and a nice New Zealand inspired pale ale called Silver Fern - perfect for watching Hana Piranha, a native of New Zealand bringing her goth rock in acoustic form to the unsuspecting masses :)

User

Blown away by the outstanding bar man who went above and beyond to concoct me an exclusive beverage this Thursday. A charming young man with a bright future in mixology! (y)

User

As you can see by my name I had to go wasnt disappointed. I deal with bands and major venues all the time as a part of my job nice to be s punter for once :-)

User

Amazing place and staff! Can’t wait to return!

User

Always a good band on. Bouncer was so incredibly rude and then accused me of being rude, however the manager handled it very well and the rest of staff where friendly. Been her before always a great night and good cocktailsxx

User

A great night to be had all round. Great live music, booze and now they have started serving delicious noodles again too.

User

What I really like is that the calibre of band here has been consistently high whever I've gone. Might just be luck but it makes a change watching musicians booked on merit as opposed to how many people they can bring....

User

I recently visited this Bar only because if it's recommendation by the Cretin Crew the venue was really nice & arty but felt disappointed after roughly 10 of the music techs I was with got turned away for being 3 mins after stop letting in time tho the bar was staying open for another hour & a half. I was in the bar with Californian Rockers Lit who'd just played a show so the reason the techs where late was down to packing up the stage equipment.

User

Food is grim. No where near what it looks like on wriggle. Took a bite of my dumplings which were cold - sent them back only to be served reheated versions of what I had just eaten - complete with bite taken out. Not worth the discount 🤔😳

User

Extremely disappointed in the new Mr wolfs, the character the previous location seemed to have has gone. Very much seemed like your stereotypical club, a return to the new Mr wolfs is highly unlikely

User

used to be great now its moved really gone down hill just another overcrowded hipster bar now ....shame

Some bartenders think we're all drunk or stupid, and we don't know what we drink, and you ask them for a drink and they put the one they want, and if you claim them they throw it away and they turn around and they don't cater for you anymore. Last night when I was there I asked for the basket to hold my jackets. The person in-charge denied me one inspite of free baskets lying around. At the bar i asked for a drink (which they stocked) they serve me a different drink, when I said it was not the drink I ordered the bar tender rudely threw away the drinks and don't serve me anymore. Such arrogant and rude behaviour was not needed. It's an insult to the customers. I am never gonna go to Mr. Wolves again and will discourage friends and colleagues to go there. Couple of my friends in the past also had similar experiences which is a shame!
