After a pretty miserable weekend, people are really taking advantage of the glorious Easter Monday weather to get out onto the water. The pontoons are half empty this morning!

Ocean Village's newest business, Maritimo Lounge, which describes itself as a 'food-led cafe/bar', opened its doors for the first time today. With breathtaking views across the marina, it is the first commercial opening of the new Admiral's Quay development. The relaxed restaurant space is spread over three floors and features an extensive all-day menu including brunch, tapas, burgers and panini, plus a cocktail menu. The quirky yet homely open space is dominated by dramatic lighting fixtures, an eclectic mix of furniture and portraits which adorn every wall. The restaurant has created 25 new jobs in the area, including a kitchen staff of five. We were shown around the restaurant ahead of their grand opening party this evening. Take a look at these fantastic photos taken by our friends at MAD Photography!

Our eagle-eyed community has brought some very exciting news to our attention… Planning notices went up around the marina a few days ago. And, as a result of that, we now have details of one of the first new restaurants to open at the Admiral's Quay development! Maritimo Lounge, which is part of The Loungers group of cafe/bars, is set to open on 25th February. This will be the company's third location in Southampton following the success of Trago Lounge in Portswood and Santo Lounge in Shirley. They describe themselves as "informal, neighbourhood food-led cafe/bars open all-day everyday where families, friends, and locals can come for a coffee, a drink, or something to eat in a relaxed comfortable environment."

A little something to be happy about on this horrible, wet day... The damaged lamp post outside OVIC was finally replaced this morning. It only took about 11 months to get it sorted out!

User

No, it's not a spaceship!! It's just the super-inconsiderate, retina-burning lighting that ABP Southampton - Port of Southampton have installed.

User

We managed to capture this moment where the final pane of glass was being lifted into position on the southern elevation of the new Moresby Tower, the tallest residential building in Southampton

To our boating community... Never underestimate the importance of wearing your kill cord. Such a terrible and tragic event which could have easily been avoided.

You know it's a big boat when... you can't see Admiral's Quay anymore

Great pubs, restaurants and coffee bars and getting better all the time - current building work will produce a 5* hotel, more residential accommodation and will complete the development by summer 2017. All we need is the sunshine on the water!

User

Awesome, it's much better than Trago and Santo Lounges, spread over three floors, looking forward to trying the menu after the grand opening.
