Wow, thank you so much for a magical afternoon. From From the moment we walked into the house, we were greeted and made so welcome. My granddaughter was completely mesmerised by Belle. Everything was perfection from the high quality of food to the professional staff. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories for my granddaughter, my family and me.

User

Went to the Be Our Guest afternoon tea today. Absolutely faultless. Food all fresh & lovely. Staff couldn't do enough for us. All attention to detail was incredible & presentation superb. Belle came to visit & sing & she was beautiful. Spent time with every table & was an absolute delight. Took photos with whoever wanted them. Was able to walk around & see the animals after in the park & bumped into Belle again in the activity park. I'd recommend this even to anyone. I'd love to go again. Well done

User

Went there yesterday for roast dinner absolutely beautiful well worth the money best potatoes I've ever tasted in my life and the cauliflower cheese was divine all so my mother is eight 78 decided to have a go on the zip wire from top to bottom absolutely loved it good day out it was cold but nice and fresh thank you very much guys will be seeing you again for dinner

User

We just couldn't love this place anymore. We've been regulars for a while and it never fails to deliver so we decided to hold our daughters 4th birthday party here. I just can't say enough about the place. Every member of staff is professional, friendly and so very helpful but special thanks go to Hayley who made the whole day easy to plan and relaxed (well as relaxed as a 4yr olds birthday party can be!!) and Sarah who really made the day with the Pets Corner Experience. Great food, beautiful surroundings and lots of fun to be had! A really gem of a place.

User

We came yesterday for the beauty and the beast afternoon tea. One word; Amazing. Food was perfect, decorations were brilliant and the special guest made my daughters day. The staff serving and welcoming us were lovely and empty tea pots were replaced without asking and regularly. We booked the afternoon tea as we were on holiday and it coincided with our holiday dates. After looking at what else was on offer in the park, we will definitely be visiting again on future holidays to explore the park fully. Thank you for a magical experience, my daughter hasn't stopped talking about it

User

The park is a wonderful place to take your family or friends, child friendly with lots to do and see, also try the steak barn 5 star service with 5 star food, will definitely be back, mark williams

User

My friend and I brought our daughters to the Frozen Afternoon Tea today and I think I speak for both of us when I say that we had a wonderful time! The food was lovely, Elsa was very attentive and accommodating of the children, the service was exceptional and overall we had a really lovely experience that we will treasure for ever more. As and when there is another event like this we will definitely be back! Thank you.

I love old down manner my son got married here last year it was fantastic and since then myself and husband bring both of my grandson to the park, we were there on Friday just gone my only disappointment was we went to sit down in the park where there are trampolines plus lots of other things for the children to play with swings slides little trike cars and lots more, as we were about to sit down we were narrowly hit by a football, my grandchildren are only small and these older boys I feel we playing in an area that is not suitable for ball games as there are lots of room in the park to play football or any sort of ball games. Perhaps a sign up saying this would be helpful as when we moved around the play area this ball kept appearing and even when my grandson was on trampolines they felt the need to continue to through the ball into the nets. We moved on but I feel that If there was a sign up saying no balls on this area it could have help me bring it to there attention.

Attended a wedding here on Friday 8th September in the manor house. A truly stunning place. The staff we're fantastic, but a special mention must go to Jason for all his organisation throughout the day. Had a brilliant time. He was very professional, but also very friendly and jovial. Also a mention for nick the bar tender, a very knowledgeable person, we had a good chat with him and a laugh (we did tease him )A credit to the manor. Anyone having a wedding here will not be disappointed.

Ok, so I'm a fan of old down country park in the summer. Yes it's a glorified park, but my daughter loves the space to run around in and I enjoy the walk and views. Out membership ran out in July and we haven't renewed it (looking to spice it up and go for somewhere else this year) so we know the park well and have been coming for many years.

We attended the fireworks this year as they were advertised as 'quiet' and took my 6 year old and 5 month old. I admit I got a shock when I heard a bang (much much quieter than usual displays I may add). Due to the display being by the lake, I know the ground isn't overly pushchair friendly, as it's a working farm! We took a buggy that I knew would withstand some 'difficult terrain'. We enjoyed the display and would definitely attend again.

Areas for improvement: better lighting around the park (to see pot holes!), people to guide guests to viewing area (everyone seemed to bundle up the top, we had LOADS of empty space around us), food areas on the green by the walled garden (the ques blocked the paths tonight and made it tricky not to run people over in the dark).

My biggest issue was going to the loo! A baby in a buggy and a 6 year old in tow is NEVER easy, but tonight I struggled to get through the barn to even approach the toilets (outside ones had massive que!) and to get back out again was a mission and a half! Portaloos for when these events are held.....In general you could do with bigger toilets, when I was pregnant it was a challenge to get into a cubicle let alone pee!

Overall we had a fab evening and all came home smiling!

As for the comments about the field and getting out, it's a field that had been rained on.....if you know the park, you know the overflow is in a field!

I'm a county bumpkin at heart, Devon born and bred!

First visit here yesterday 16-7-17 we travelled from EXETER as we were meeting other family members so this was a meet in the middle for all. There is lots for children to do my 3 year old son loved the toddler area and played in there most of the day. It was a shame the splash pools had been vandalized as they had only just opened as was looking forward to using them. We ate in the barn I personally wouldn't recommend the roast lots of items had run out like roast potatoes, carrots and the gravy was like dish water it wasn't even late we ate at 1pm . Enjoyed a lovely ice cream from the farm shop. We would come here again but bring a picnic next time

User

The woodland and the meadow was lovely but not many signs pointing in the right direction and more could be done to keep the kids engaged ie nature trails with things to find etc. The bus was disappointing - just an old clapped out bus! And the pets corner could be made so much better and felt a bit unloved! On the plus side the outside animal enclosures and play area was good.

User

Park is very nice and lots for the kids to do and animals to see only the cafe is very expensive and not worth the money so will not eat there again Β£5 for a sandwich which was the cheapest on the menu which I could have made for less then a pound if you come here make sure you bring a pack lunch with you it will taste better then the food they serve and be alot cheaper

User

Had a really mixed day here last week.

Positives were well cared for animals with spacious enclosures and excellent lunch in the barn.

We did find a number of negatives. The grass in younger childrens play area was being mown meaning it was too noisy and unsafe for my toddler to play freely. We were told to use crafts in the yurt and it would be finished soon. The yurt really smells, very damp etc. I wouldn't recommend it for a party. We then had lunch and headed back to the play area to find it being mown again....Couldn't this be done early morning before visitors arrive?

The bouncy castle and little tykes cars were soaking wet from the overnight rain. If they were put away this wouldn't be a problem.

On entry we were told the lambs would be fed at 2.30. We waited for 20 minutes in pets corner and nothing. After enquiring we found out that one member of staff hadn't turned up and the other was dealing with the vet....if this is the case a simple solution would be to put a sign up in pets corner apologising to update customers.

Of more concern we asked a staff member who the first aider was as the place seemed so deserted, with nobody employed to look after customers around the park....they clearly weren't sure.

This place could be great with more organisation, a few more staff to look after the paying customers and better care taken of the equipment.

User

This was our second trip to the park and we had a good time, however, I find it a little odd that on a weekend where you have the promotion of Β£5 per person to attract families and children that the pets corner wasn't open for actual petting! We didn't find this out until we read a sign in the shop, ie we weren't told on arrival. Upon asking I was told that you weren't sure if the staff were coming in to do it??! What an odd situation?! Surely you employ the staff and give them hours to work, and a busy summer holiday weekend would be one of those times surely??! There was also a 'sorry' sign outside of the craft yurt!! I'm presuming therefore you had a bit of a staff issue on Sunday?! Petting the animals was what our girls were most looking forward to so they were very disappointed unfortunately.

User

I took my son and my daughter . firstly when we arrived no signs up of how to enter the park and noticed the toilet was out of order. once you walk though the gift shop (which is daft as my daughter wants the whole shop before we even start). you enter the toddler bit but big kids were on the trampolines so wasnt to impressed then walked down the the Bus was so disappointed was expecting soft play inside no just a broken down Bus . outside play area with not many benches. the we did the walk to a lake with broken signs in it. the whole place just looked run down. sorry wont be back........ nice weather tho would of hated more if it rained as there is nothing inside at all..............

User

I recently went to old down for beauty and the beast afternoon tea and wasn't that impressed. The atmosphere was lovely and the little beauty and beast themed decor was nice. The glass vase which the rose was in was broken which was dangerous.

However, the food was awful and for Β£25 was shocking. I have never been to an afternoon tea before which was so small and was definitely not home made. The quality was bad and for an afternoon tea the cakes were lacking. The scones were the size of a Β£2 coin, the sandwiches were dry and tasteless and the only cake on the afternoon tea, was definitely a shop bought Swiss roll.

Myself and my friend would of not paid if we hadn't already paid up front, due to the poor quality. Would not recommend the afternoon tea at all and would be hesitate to eat here at all.

User

We went to the frozen afternoon tea party today and was really disappointed at what we got for the price. This is something that was aimed at young kids, but they weren’t catered for in the afternoon tea. No squash only water and tea on the table. The afternoon tea itself was also aimed at the adults and not the kids, which again was disappointing. What 5 year old eats salmon and ham and whole grain mustard sandwiches. The cakes were full of E numbers and very bright blue. There was also a lot of waiting around. No entertainment for the kids whilst they were waiting to say hi/bye and have photos with Elsa. Not worth the Β£46 that was spent.

User

Honestly i am so disappointed. I loved coming here before but since the firework fiasco i expected more for the christmas launch. We arrived at 10am, went to have a drink before santa arrived and the cafe was awful again. No management, staff more concerned with covering up menus than serving people, mishearing orders then making me feel like it was my fault, seemed to be being set up as people were arriving, surely this could have been done before 10am,people queing, one guys drink waa cold as it was served, also that poor parrot was inside and locked up again, is he ever let out? Also i was disappointed no one was at pets corner at 11 like normal for us to see the animals whilst we were waiting for santa. Santa as always is brilliant with the children but for Β£12.50 i fail to see what you get for this pricethe hand puppet my daughter got is the same as last year and is worth probably Β£5,so what did i pay the extra Β£7.50 for? I wont be coming back to Old down for events or anything else which is a shame as i used to love it here
