New Life Home Trust (NLHT) is a Kenyan charity which rescues abandoned babies, cares for them and provides them with a new life in a family home β where possible with birth parents, through in-country adoption or in one of the 4 homes for those children who are not adopted either because they are HIV positive or because they have some form of disability. Paint Pots has had a long-standing relationship with NLHT. David and Anna are both trustees of New Life Home Trust UK CIO w...hich exists to raise awareness and funds to support the work in Kenya. David is a frequent visitor to Kenya. On 25th May, he is taking 3 of our team β Katie from Swaythling, Lisa from Harefield and Izzi from Shirley, to volunteer for 4 days, in the special needs home in Kisumu on Lake Victoria followed by 3 days in Nairobi. Katey says, βI feel this is going be a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference to more childrenβs lives.β We will update you on our experiences on our return, including details of how to support this amazing life-saving work.

This young man is demonstrating learning through play. He will have learnt more about shape than he ever would using paper and pencil.
This morning when we came into the play room ***** was sat with the building blocks, I was amazed watching him. He was so focused on moving the blocks to see what shapes he could make, you could tell by looking at his face he was using lots of concentration and thinking of his next move. I sat close by to not disturb him and just watched him.... He would make the shape he wanted then sit back lower his head to the floor and observe what he made, then when he was happy with that he would change the shape, exploring various ways to place the blocks. He was so engrossed in this he didn't need any input from anyone. When the bell went for βputting things where they belong time βhe looked a little concerned about his blocks, so I came along and suggested we put them on the window ledge so he can keep an eye on them and he could do them again after lunch. We did that and he high fived me.

What are the children learning from a pot of beads and some pipe cleaners? They have to use finger and thumb to pick up the small beads, thread, choose the colour, repeat the pattern, count how many beads, share with their friends and proudly show off their creations. Love it.
We would love you to join our team at Paint Pots Nursery West End. We have a full time position available. We also need occasional cover staff. Contact info@paintpotsnursery.co.uk. Because....
Peter Paint Pots on one of his trips home with a Paint Potter. I wonder who he is writing to?
Practicing what they preach some of our teams healthy lunches.
One of our lovely managers transformed this old brief case in to an outdoors literacy case. Please think of us if you are getting rid of bags, cases or suitcases!
Following on from our children's interest in all things dinosaur we set up an archaeological dig. We sprinkled glitter and flour around the dough so that the children could practice dusting off the dinosaurs. We also used the dinosaurs to embed in the dough.
> The children used their hands to push the dough flat. Great for muscle development. Some of the children tried writing in the glitter and flour mix with the paint brushes. We encouraged the children to write the letters of their names.
We are all encouraged to eat a rainbow of fruit and veg each day and here are some interpretations made by some of our toddlers! πππππ
As it was raining heavily one morning we decided to build a den inside. We turned the lights off to make it dark. The children used wind up torches inside the den which provided them with a challenge as they had to keep winding or pumping them in order to make them work. Some children sat inside reading books, others played with magnetic shapes. When the den broke we challenged the children by asking them "how can you fix it.β They came up with great ideas!
One of our children saw our camouflage net and decided they wanted to use it to make a βBird Spyβ where we could watch our birdhouse and see who came and went. We talked about how they were going to make it, writing down each step to make a plan. Afterwards, it was shared with a group of children who were happy to help! The children collected the things they needed and went into the garden. Katey read out each step for them. They followed their plan and made this amazing Bird Spy β even safe from zombies!
Some of our teachers went to a lot of trouble organising a treasure hunt. Clues all over include a jigsaw photo clue. The children could not wait to tell us how they found the treasure! π°
David has remarked on the deer and rabbits depicted on the signs at the entrances to the Harefield Estate wondering why. Well here is the reason - observed from the preschool window at Woodlands school. What a special moment - a whole family of deer. π¦π¦π¦
Anyone needing to update their First Aid? We have a few places left on our next course...
Would anyone like to do some writing - paper and pens on the table ? Maybe 3 children (usually girls) appear. Same question but the paper is stuck to the floor under a table- we all have to take turns as everyone wants a go.As adults we may give it a try to see whatβs so good about being under a table!
A date for your diary!
