I will shortly have some spaces in my Prepareā„¢ Pregnancy Pilates class as we have babies coming any minute!!!!
The classes are held in my studio in Paisley Road at 9am on a Sunday morning. Pilates is a wonderful way to keep mobile, strong and comfortable during pregnancy.
Our specialised Prepareā„¢ class uses a combination of modified Pilates and Pre Pilates exercises to keep you fit and maintain muscle tone, focusing on maintaining balanced posture, functional movements and ...correct muscle length so we tailor them to the stage of pregnancy of each individual
We also do some education on how and why the body changes, and how this affects the way we should exercise, the practicalities of birth and what actually physically happens, we also discuss the correct way to return to exercise after baby is here.
We finish with a short relaxation/visualisation exercise to help prepare for birth, providing techniques to help create and maintain a calm positive attitude to prepare for birth and basic breathing techniques for labour.
Please drop me a line if you are interested.
Thanks Alex x

Shake or tremble at the barre? Thatā€™s not necessarily a bad thing - itā€™s just a sign your body is becoming fatigued, Crockford says. Essentially what's happening is that the muscle contraction is being interrupted because there isn't enough energy available to keep your nerves firing properly and sending uninterrupted signals to your muscles.
Again, even though it hurts, it doesn't mean you're hurting yourself. ā€œPushing through this trembling, within reason, is a type of muscle overload,ā€ Crockford explains. This is what your muscles need to enact change, so basically, it means youā€™re making progress. If youā€™re using proper form, injuries shouldn't be an issue

We've started off the new block of Repairā„¢ Post natal classes this week and what a lovely group of mummies and babies they are!
Due to circumstances I actually have a couple of spaces available on the Monday morning class at 1030am so if you are interested please let me know.
This is a rehabilitation class so aimed at reconnecting your brain and your body to learn the repairā„¢ method to re connection of your core and pelvic floor - mobilising stuck areas of the body and strengthening the weaker ones aiming for all over balance and strength to help you look after the small ones!

Exactly what she says - I couldn't put it better myself....
'Both yoga and Pilates offer similar benefits, including relaxation, strength and flexibility but the main focus of Pilates is on the core. ā€˜Pregnancy is not the time to build muscle around your abdomen but itā€™s really important to keep your core muscles strong to support your posture,ā€™
ā€˜It works on keeping the muscles throughout the body ā€“ upper body, lower body and abdominal area ā€“ strong, toned and connected to t...he core so as to reduce pregnancy aches and pains and help speed up postnatal recovery,ā€™
Pilates and yoga can both be very helpful and the decision on which one to choose is a personal one, ā€˜Iā€™ve had clients that have been yoga lovers their whole life and it felt only natural to continue with the practise when pregnant but eventually they felt that the practise wasnā€™t offering them the support their bodies needed in that very different period of their life and theyā€™re grateful to have discovered pregnancy Pilates.ā€™
says Agi Makarewicz, pilates instructor and founder of equipment studio Agile Pilates.

Ive just completed the first block of the postnatal classes and cant wait to carry on! Alex is so professional and her knowledge knows know bounds! I have quite a deep Diastasis Recti following this pregnancy ( second child) and felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall talking to Drs and Physios that didn't really help much. I felt lost and really low that I was going to look 7 months pregnant for the rest of my life! But since starting Alex's Postnatal class she has given me the confidence and tools i need to be able to tackle this head on and give me the hope that things will get better! Thankyou Alex! Attending your classes was the best decision I ever made!

I've been going to Alex's classes for a few years now and absolutely love them - she has such a great way of getting the best from you and a very funny sense of humour. Her mummy and baby classes were brillant too - they were a big highlight of my week when I was off work. Thank you Alex x

I really enjoy my weekly Pilates class. The classes are well planned with lots of variety. Having small groups also allows Alex to develop her classes to suit each persons strengths and weaknesses. She has a vast Pilates knowledge, clearly explains the benefits of each movement and the small tweaks that make a big difference. She rarely presents an easy option (which is good as you are there to make a difference!) and always let's you know how to advance the movement. The classes are great fun and you are encouraged to work hard. She likes to throw in some random facts about the founder: 'Joseph Pilates' too, which are always well received. Since starting Pilates my posture has improved, core strength improved after having a baby. I am so much more aware of tensions in muscles and now know ways how to remove them, my flexibility has also improved. It's also a great stress reliever after a days work. So so so so worth it. Paisley Pilates for life for me. Highly recommended :)
