We recently had our Government ‘Zoo Licence’ check. Animal collections are required by law to have a ‘Zoo Licence’ to be able to operate. It’s wonderful that all the hard work by staff in the care and welfare of the animals, and the continued ongoing conservation work, both here in the UK and around the world is recognised with such high praise from the inspection team. One thing they recommended was that we are not very good at blowing our own trumpet, so here we are doing j...ust that 😊.
Here are some of the quotes from the Zoo Licence Inspection Team.
“Paradise Park is directly involved in a number of progammes in addition to its charitable arm the World Parrot Trust. The conservation output is incredible, but even more so considering the size of the collection. This zoo demonstrates what can be achieved if you put your mind to it.”
“Very good and well considered health care programme with welfare as a priority in all cases.”
“Large number of research programmes working with partners both insitu and exsitu including field conservation work, DNA assessment of species and subspecies in captive collections, cognitive research in parrots, to name a few.”
“For the size of the collection the output is huge – puts many, much larger collections to shame.”
“Very good and long standing team underpin the success of this zoo with its specialist avian breeding programmes”
“The inspection team would like to thank the team at Paradise Park for their hospitality, openness and transparency during the zoo licence inspection. The inspection team were hugely impressed at the standards across the collection, the consideration and integration of multiple stakeholders in the husbandry and breeding programmes, and the high standards and implementation of their conservation programmes. It was an absolute privilege to inspect a collection with such high standards and such a positive culture, demonstrating what a zoo can achieve when it puts its mind to it.”

Blue-throated Macaw in flight! So rare to see them, even in their native Bolivia.

What a great place, the gardens are well kept and lovely to look at, all of the bird's are stunning some very friendly the Cornish Chuff took a shine to my partner and wanted tickles through the bars ( we are parrot owners). Your obviously doing something right after reading you breeding programme information. We didn't have children with us but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for a family day out.

User

We’ve been a few times now and loved each visit, we visited recently and were especially looking forward to seeing the penguins as my 2 year old daughter loves penguins currently, on a previous visit we had seen other children feed them and she had thought that was amazing so when the keepers came in and asked who wanted to help feed the penguins she immediately started waving her hands at him and was so excited when she was picked to take part, she loved throwing the fish for them and then to add to the excitement there was then the chance to meet and stroke a penguin at the end, that was amazing and she didn’t want to leave. Next we went to feed the goats at carrot time which we’ve done before, again a great time was had. We then watched the birds of prey display, went to see the dinosaurs and had a ride on the train before a quick play at the soft play. That was enough excitement for the day this time but it’s very easy to spend a whole day here seeing various animals and taking part in various experiences. Will definitely visit again

User

We went here while on holiday, it is one the best places I have been to. Myself and the kids loved being able to sit and have a picture with a penguin. We stayed all day and watched all the shows which were all really interesting and it's good how close you are able to get to the animals. Really wished we lived closer as I would love to go back again.

User

We had a lovely visit last week. My son loved it and it has something for everyone! We particularly enjoyed the penguin cuddle it’s a lovely, reasonably priced great day out and we will definitely come back when we are next this way! The falconry displays was fantastic!

User

We came for the red panda experience, which was absolutely incredible. Could not recommend it enough! Ash and Donna were amazing keepers, who really taught us a lot about what they do and why they do it. It was really great!!

User

Was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the Red Panda Experience, it was absolutely incredible!! To be able to get so close to them, feed them and fuss them was awesome! Thank you to Sarah and Daniel who made it so fun and informative. Would highly recommend!!

User

The best day out! The absolute highlight was the penguin feeding and having the opportunity to have a picture and meet the penguin at the end. My penguin mad three year old was over the moon! Can’t wait to come back!

User

Such a great place. Lovely staff and the whole park is beautiful. Some lovely little attractions and there really is something for everyone. You can even take your own picnic! Highly recommend you pay Paradise Park a visit!

User

Sometimes if you go to zoos etc its a shame to see birds in small cages etc but that is absolutely not the case here, the entire park and enclosures themselves are spacious, stimulating for each animal and beautifully kept. Everywhere is clean and the animals all seem very very well looked after and loved. The small park and indoor play area are lovely, my son loved the train ride and there were lots of benches to rest and oppurtunities to get involved with feeding/watching feeds etc. i loved even just walking around and seeing the plants and different flowers, it is beautiful here. Will definitely come back when in cornwall for other holidays, worth every penny.

User

Really great place to visit and good value for money. Shame the rain came in today but we were anticipating it. Could do with an indoor area to picnic but apart from that great. Lady who dealt with my sons head injury was informed. Only slight criticism: Could have given him a little treat or something as he cut his head in the toddler area on a bit of Sharp metal within the secure play zone which I think has happened before but I wasn’t making a fuss. He was fine and dealt with appropriately

User

It's amazing we go this place every year without fail.....if you ait been then pencil it in you diary . Probley the best ... if carling done parks it would look like this place x

User

I love your Park and watch it change over the years since you opened and love all the improvements and cant wait for the Bat house to open but i must say the Dinosaur Park is awesome and the layout and all the Dinosaurs is the best ever and it beats Whipsnade’s Dino experience by miles well done and a fantastic day was had by us all

User

User

After we were recommended by a Facebook group we wasn’t too sure it would be worth the money or interesting enough for our 2 yr old son however this place is a wonderful experience and has gorgeous surroundings too. The free flying session is not to be missed, it’s a shame the £1 charge for the train is on top but the soft play was a hit with my boy and the only issue he had was there were not enough Dinosaurs the experience of being able to get close to the birds is amazing so I definitely would recommend oh and being able to see the farm animals was a lovely extra with feeding them too for my son was a great experience.

User

Absolutely fabulous place to spend a day. Loved the fact that there are so many attractions to see and get involved with, especially liked that we could pet the penguins. The Eagles of Paradise show was brilliant and was pleased to hear that they are doing so much conservation including raising money to save the vultures. There are so many exotic birds that I have not seen anywhere else, the whole place is spotless and staff friendly. Would definitely come here again.

User

Absolutely amazing little place! We live in Cornwall but haven’t had the chance to visit until yesterday. We stayed all day and were never short of mini attractions to see and get involved with. We visited with another family - we both have little ones under 2, and it was magical for them too. To actually have the opportunity to feed and pet a lot of the animals, including the penguins and exotic birds, was truly unique, and I would highly recommend it for a day out.

User

Absolutely amazing animal park. Me and my partner enjoyed every second of it. Feeding and petting the penguins was incredible and we’ve never seen that been done in any other zoo we’ve been too (and we’ve been to a lot!). Staff were lovely and friendly. It was raining when we went but it didn’t dampen our moods - just meant we got most of the park to ourselves! The red pandas are amazing and all of the animals look happy and have loads of space. Can’t wait to come back on our next holiday to Cornwall, one of my new favourite park/zoos.

User

A long way to go but well worth it! Tucked away between a school and a pub (which serves excellent food!), the Park has an amazing display of birds, particularly parrots. Dedicated, knowledgable and hard-working staff, excellent facilities for children also, including party options. Idyllic position overlooking the estuary. Lots of new building going on - can't wait to get back and see the new aviaries later in the year!

User

This was our 2nd visit in over 2 years but thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals. A large variety of birds and loved the red pandas and parrots. The parrot was very talkative and amused the children. The Jungle Barn play area was great to burn off some energy but the food was very expensive, we thought. We will be returning and look forward to our next holiday in Cornwall.
