chuffed with my pier to pier swim today, 25th of 1000! over £200,000 raised in total for British Heart Foundation so all in all a worthwhile day out for all. please feel free to sponsor me for the Brownsea island swim in a couple of weeks
Really great British Association for Surgery of the Knee Meeting this year. Reinforces my evidence based practice and interesting updates on new technologies currently under review.
Great day out training my registrars and knee fellows on meniscal repair and ACL reconstruction at the Smith&Nephew lab #savethemeniscus
Joint replacement is not the only surgical option for the treatment of knee arthritis. If you are below about 50 and active then knee realignment surgery (osteotomy) could be an option for you.
Mako Robotic Arm Partial Knee Replacement , pre-op planning for added precision!
Mako robotic partial knee certification completed!
Putting the brakes on early arthroscopy for degenerate medial meniscal tears...a practice I have employed for some time now. Good Physio, time and the odd injection frequently resolves symptoms and avoids surgery.
New evidence suggests its safe to drive 4 weeks after knee replacement!
Are robots the future for knee surgery?!? I'll keep you all posted.
If you have recently had an ACL reconstruction or are ACL deficient , get a good ACL brace fitted. I have just got back from a weeks kitesurfing in some pretty extreme conditions in the west coast of Ireland. I was trialling a donjoy armour brace fitted by Jon (head physio at the BMI Harbour in Poole). All I can say is that my knee felt totally stable despite a pretty lax ACL deficient knee and some serious abuse in challenging conditions. PM me if you would like some advise or Jon's contact details. For more information on ACL rupture visit http://www.paul-pavlou.com/knee-ligament- injuries-copy-2.ht…
With the skiing season upon us soon make sure to start your conditioning now. Whilst I love doing ACL reconstruction I hate seeing family and friends coming back with knee injuries....Its usually the same story of tired knees at the end of the day, usually at slow speed. So get training.
