About Piglets Pre-School And Day Nursery

Piglets is a family run nursery catering for children from three months to five years.

Piglets Pre-School And Day Nursery Description

Piglets Day Nursery is set in the grounds of the beautiful Manor Farm Country Park with it's peaceful surroundings, large fully secure outside areas, open plan spacious rooms which are ideal for your child's start in life.

Each of the rooms is specifically tailored to suit the age, stage and development of the children.
The Baby Room (3 months - 2 years) work on a 1: 3 ratio, supporting development through play. They have their own free-flow area which can be accessed throughout the day and an enclosed grass area for the children to enjoy.
The Tigger Room (2 years - 2 years 9 months) work on a 1: 4 ratio, the staff in here continue to support the children's development through play. The Tigger Room also have their own enclosed garden space which is also free-flow access.
The Pre-School Room (2 years 9 months - 5 years) work on a 1: 4, for the under 3's, and a 1: 8 ratio. This room is more structured to enable the children to make the next step to big school. They too also have their own free-flow enclosed garden area.

To the rear of the nursery is a large grassed area for the children to explore in all weather's. Also we have access to the grounds of Manor Farm and often go for forest walks with the children, so they can explore and observe the natural world.

All staff follow the Early Years Foundation Stage when observing and continuing the children's development.

All food is prepared on a daily basis by our cook. We provide a variety of home cooked nutritious meals and offer fruit at snack and tea times. We also cater for special dietary needs and allergies on an individual basis. Our menus are displayed on the notice board in the entrance to the Pre-School room and upon request.

The baby room are enjoying some body painting, we are encouraging the children to use the tools such as brushes and stamps as well as their bodies to make marks on the paper using different pastel colours. Some of the children are enjoying painting themselves and using their hands and feet to make prints whilst exploring what happens when different paint colours are mixed. We are also encouraging fine and gross motor skills in this activity making large and small movements with the brushes and their bodies ¤Ä©¤Öé

Healthy Eating - Preschool looked at the Eat well Plate yesterday and discussed the different food groups, they talked about a balance diet and what each of the foods does for our bodies. The children each had their own plate which they attempted to put the correct foods into the right sections. The children also got to taste a range of different foods.

UPDATE: Three butterflies have emerged from their chrysalis ¤”ŗ¤”ŗ¤”ŗ
All of the pre-school children voted for a name that they would like to call the butterflies, every time one appears the children all sit together and pull a name out of the cup to name the new butterfly, this teaches the children about democracy which is under British values. So far we have butterfly 1 buttercup (pre-School), butterfly 2 yogurt (pre-school) butterfly 3 is Brenda (toddler room). The children al...so spoke about what the butterflies will need and the children cut up some banana and apple to give to the butterflies with some sugar water. We are hoping after the weekend we will come into a few more butterflies!

Pre-School played Number Bingo today, all of the children had their own sheet and as the numbers were held up by Katie the children were encouraged to recognise the number and circle it on their sheet, if the children weren't sure Katie would also shout out what the number was until they were all circled and then they shouted BINGO! The children appeared to really enjoy this activity, What a fun way to practice our math skills happy Friday! ¤Öé

Tigger's are enjoying lots of outdoor time now the sun and warmer weather has made its appearance. ŌśĆ’ĖÅ Today they have collected soil and picked some flowers from the garden to do some planting in pots. The children are using the spades to fill and pour the soil into the pots and use their fine motor skills to pick up and plant the flowers. The children are showing an interest in life cycles after looking at the caterpillars, so they have been talking about what the plants need to grow and changes they can see in the garden. ¤ī╝ ¤ī╗ ¤īĖ ¤ī╝ ¤ī╗ ¤īĖ
