Massive thumbs up from us and all our guests after my four year old’s ‘ Active play and bounce’ birthday party today . The bouncy castles and soft play equipment were really excellent in a very spacious studio and there was loads of space for the kids to run around and play and plenty of seating for the parents. The party room was just as we required and the bookings co-ordinator, party host and all staff encountered on the day were so helpful. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a week-end soft play party for pre-schoolers but don’t want them to be squished by the bigger kids in the usual soft play venues!

Just had my first appointment in the gym with Kieron, and I’m not normally one to bother writing reviews, but the session was SO good I wanted to make sure Kieron had some recognition! He made me feel really comfortable, especially when I had a very embarrassing dizzy spell... He struck a perfect balance between pushing me and making sure I was safe and happy with the programme. I was really worried about the resistance machines being reduced and the free weights area being extended, but Kieron has given me a programme that completely alleviates that worry. Thank you so much! #Kieronforemployeeofthemonth

We tried out the new pool today with the two of us and my daughter and granddaughter. Parking was OK (it was a Saturday afternoon) and there was hardly any queue. Reception was good and suggested that a family ticket was cheaper. So we were given our blue bands and proceeded to the changing rooms and got changed and of course the youngest had to go to the loo. So eventually had a swim and we were enjoying ourselves and then the lifeguard shouted out that all blue bands and had to leave the pool! So we paid almost £5 each for a 25 minute (maximum) swim, even though the adult pool was very empty.

We were not best pleased but after complaining got some recompense, but the swim system is seriously flawed. It looks like you get a band that is for a for a set duration (40 minutes or an hour ? ). If you buy your ticket part way through this period you will not your money’s worth.

The only thing to do is ask reception when you get your band, how long is it valid for? If seems to be that on the hour, 3pm in this case, the lifeguard throws all of a certain colour band out of the pool. If you arrived at 2:30pm and had a leisurely change and loo stop you might get a 15 minute swim!

I’ve never seen such a poorly organised system. This desperately needs changing.

Lovely new centre, crisp and clean with a logical customer process from reception to poolside.

Little faults like when it’s best to go swimming, I expect because a lot of people are wanting a piece of the action. I’ve worked out when is best to go fitness swimming as it’s a case of pick and choose well, I’m not telling when though!

If you want a truly exhausting, frustrating, migraine inducing experience of poor customer service and event management, take the family for a “”FUN”” swim on a Saturday at 15:00hrs.

You can queue, yes they let you, for 40 minutes, then at 15:00 they tell you that they have sold out, they will however allow you to remain in the queue until 15:30 so you can purchase you family ticket then.

If you’re lucky enough to purchase your tickets at 15:30, by the time you get into the pool (15:35 at a personal best getting 5 people changed etc) you have to be out of the pool by 16:00....hmm, swindled out of cash here as paying for less than 30mins swim costs the same as a 40mins swim IF you are lucky enough (never had that privilege yet) of getting a ticket at 15:00.

No on line booking.

No mention of 20 people max per session.

No signs to display this information (you need to squeeze the stones of blood to get that).

Honestly guys trust me on this, take the family out here for that special family weekend time, nothing like wasting time on a Saturday afternoon and disappointing your children all in one go.

Thanks for listening to this rant.

I currently pay for a family membership, with the promise of family swimming for my five year old and teen gym for the older two. However, the only time 'family' swimming is available is for 3 hours on a Sunday morning. We have tried on at least 3 occasions to get in to a normal swim session on the weekend (the only time suitable for a five year old) to find that the entire main pool is taken over by inflatable swim and the teaching pool is limited to twenty people, because of the lifeguard ratios. Every week we try to swim there is a huge queue of people wanting to just swim with their children. We have waited for forty minutes and then been told we can't get in the pool and that the next hour's swimming is lane swimming in the teaching pool. All well and good if your child can swim lengths - that's a no for us then (how do we get to that point when we can't get in the pool).

As for the teenagers in my family, we were told that they would be able to use the teen gym between 4-6pm every weekday. The reality is that they have to book the session, which actually runs 4-5pm on weekdays, and cannot get in unless they book two weeks in advance. Yes, they could come with us but the idea was that they could have some independence and take ownership of their fitness in an environment that has been set up for them.

The facilities are fantastic, if you can manage to park, then get in through the check -in system and you don't want to swim with your children.

Credit to Andy in the gym, who was very helpful and patient with me. He worked out a programme that suits my needs and couldn't have been more helpful.

I have tried to complain. After my third attempt I received a voicemail from the manager, who advised they would call back but haven't bothered. I can't ever get through on the phone and whenI leave messages they aren't returned. To have such great facilities on your doorstep and be so let down in the management and availability of them is disappointing. I really hope things improve!

User

Where do I start, I joined the gym after I was going more than once a week and got a membership for £32 a month, then the new gym opened and half the weight machines had gone, limited bikes, facing the wall or steamed up windows on the treadmills, overall no atmosphere. The changing room is tiny when I could get in there as my card never worked and I only went at non peak times. Then after my first 3 months they advised me my membership was going up, why? Anyway quit now and go somewhere else for half the price, Staff are great but the layout and equipment available is poor. I won't mention the pool.

User

Very sad to see Community sports clubs being priced out of the sports centre. £50/60 an hour is simply an unachievable hire-rate for a small-medium club requiring the specialist equipment such as matted floor areas without making it unaffordable for club members. The kit is new and shiny, certainly. Really disappointed that this facility and business has a monopoly in the area and then they refer to 'competitive' pricing when there is no-one to compete with. Really disappointed, its a missed opportunity.

Very reluctantly tried to renew my annual membership today (current membership expires tomorrow). Renewal was not possible on computer system. It flagged up a message saying membership could not be renewed as there were more than 60 days remaining on current membership. God help FP when i go to classes on Monday and im told that my membership has expired ! Membership includes use of sauna and steam room. 12% increase in membership this year ..... of course thats to pay for all those individuals who dont have memberships and pay for a swim and think they can use sauna and steam room and do ! Sauna and steam room are poolside so mostly always noisy and nowhere to chill and cool down. Female sports change room has two toilets, one of which has been out of order since 28 Nov 2017 ! The list is endless of things that dont work. Get your act together FP.

Very poor customer service - bad communication and a lack of being able to solve problems. Facilities are great, this place could be exceptional with the right staff. Clearly need better management, training and need to sort out processes, such as swimming pool entry. I'm surprised nothing is being done, particularly as the majority of reviews only 1 star

User

Very disappointing first visit yesterday. Arrived to swim with our 6 year old to be advised we had to buy a ticket for either the main or the small pool, it wasn’t possible for me to be with my daughter for some of the swim and then move across to the main pool for a proper swim afterwards. This is very limiting for parents of young children who will still want to swim properly themselves. My husband and I often wish to take turns swimming while the other one of us is with our daughter.

We were then informed we had to wait for the next session which was in 25 mins but we couldn’t pay our entry or go through to the changing rooms until the 25 mins was up. We were advised that the full session would be 40 mins but as this would include our changing time and getting ready time, this severely limits time in the pool, particularly when visiting with babies or children. By this point we were very frustrated and decided to go elsewhere for our swim.

I understand swimming time needs to be limited at busy times but this just doesn’t seem like a workable system at all. We won’t be coming back unless this is adjusted. A shame, as the pool looked pleasant through the window.

User

The swimming pool timetable is absolutely dreadful and possibly the most poorly thought through system I’ve ever experienced in a leisure centre. It urgently needs revising.

Examples- Sunday afternoon- (ideal time for family swimming) why on earth would you close the children’s pool for lane swimming?! Approximately 3 people got in and all of the families were forced out! Why not make the main pool lane swimming or have 1/2 lanes dedicated for lane swimming- this is surely just so obviously ridiculous.

2nd example- I’ve just taken my son aged 3 swimming on a Monday morning- the children’s pool is barely half full with swimming lessons (easily could use half of it) and he main pool is packed! Half of it with school swimming lessons but the other part filled with adults wanting to lane swim but being frustrated with it being full of kids. Why not give them an entire lane so they can lane swim and leave the rest of the pool for normal swimming, or better still not close the entire small pool (which is easily large enough!).

These are just 2 recent examples- I don’t have the emotional energy to explain how bad the banding system is. With 2 children you might end up with 30 minutes in the pool if you time it right.

The entire programme needs an urgent audit of use and a complete revamp. I would be delighted to help with the process!

I have written 3 suggestions and had not reply- I’ve also spoken to the management face to face and told they are ‘reviewing the situation’ something needs to change!!

Really disappointed is a understatement and so angry such lovely pool went with grandson yesterday for his birthday and granddaughter who had just got feeding tube taken out after 6 months and wanted go swimming ,

We were never advice when purchase a family ticket that had choose pools why would you if fun time

then by time change making sure children been toilet after 30 minutes in pool said our band colour was up .

After explaining we had only been in 30 minutes said had go in large pool which granddaughter had tried this

but was to cold after checking with 2 other families who were also very unhappy and one man refused to leave the pool it was not that busy and not a cue to get in after spending a lot money for 30 minutes can say will not happy or coming back Maybe train staff at the start before feeling robbed of our money for 30 minutes .My grandson was upset and granddaughter was saying we just got in after all her suffering was really even more upset and angry for them .

Hope you sort this fiasco out maybe put signs up so people can make there own choice if want to go some were else in stead of 30 minutes I will be advising other people such sham sort ya system and staff out Sue Godley

User

New leisure centre is fine, but how they’ve managed the change over has been woeful. Let us book football when they were closed. Double booked squash courts. Have to “buy” tickets to the gym when you have a membership to get in. Why can’t the card just work? Never answer the phone, take ages to answer queries when they’ve cocked up. Website is terrible. Over charging us for stuff. Problems seem to be going on and on, they say it’s because they are busy, but it’s been open a while now so if they are busy maybe they need more resources. Management are an embarrassment.

User

Lovely bright gym, shame about how difficult parking is...I have spent over 20 minutes driving around looking for a space on several occasions now. I also became a member here as I wanted to be able to take my daughters swimming. Sadly, as others have also commented. the timetable means that there are only very limited times that it is possible to go (unless you want to be lane swimming) - and we therefore have ended up paying more to go somewhere else. Seriously considering switching to another gym unless these issues are resolved.

User

I've only been to the new centre twice and both times you have messed up!

Firstly you messed up the bookings for my son's 2nd birthday and ferried the whole birthday party from room to room. You then proceeded in making us leave promptly because you had double booked and what feels like a more important party was priority.

Secondly, we popped down for a swim today and was made to wait in the que for 20 mins. You started to let people in, only 20 and told me that we had to wait in que for a further 30 mins and would not let us in. You said we could make the 3.30 swim but the pool closed a 3.55. We wernt allowed to buy tickets in advance and wernt allowed to leave the que. By the time we would of got changed, we would only have a 15 min swim.

Staff told me you had a few teething problems but that should of been sorted out months ago!

Sort it out! You have really let me down, and by the sounds of it, you've let a lot of local people down.

I visited your new Eastleigh centre with my 4 month old daughter - we wanted to go swimming in the teaching pool. When we got to the pool I quickly realised that there were no graduated steps like in old fleming Park learner pool. This meant that I had no choice but to lay my 4 month old daughter on the hard ground unsupervised while I got in to the pool. This is far from ideal or safe. However to make matters worse, when I used the metal steps to get in the pool, I slipped on the metal and fell in, seriously Bashing my knee and shin in the process. There were at least 3 life guards around and not only did none of them check to see if I was ok, but they didn’t even see it happen! That doesn’t fill me with any confidence in their ability to spot a small child in trouble! I feel the absolute lack of awareness on the part of their staff is a potentially life threatening issue which needs to be dealt with immediately.

Operations Laura Cowper responded to my complaint and offered no apology and instead blamed me for not reporting it. When I highlighted that I felt it was a safety issue that not one of the 3 lifeguards spotted this or checked That me or my baby we’re ok, she replied that “At the time they may have been looking in a different area of the pool” - great, so if you or your child gets in to difficulty, they might not help because they’ll be looking elsewhere - not acceptable at a swimming pool I’m afraid.

User

I have been telephoning the direct line for 4 weeks to try booking a place for my daughter on a trampolining course. No reply, I have left messages too. I have also called the main switchboard to check I have the correct details. They are polite and apologetic but after I’ve been waiting 15 minutes for them to answer they just give me the same number I’ve been calling. A very frustrating situation for someone who is keen to be a customer.

User

Daughter has just been in soft play area and it was a hazard city for babies and toddlers. Wires all over the place. Toddlers playing buttons with an Air con unit which was easily accessible to them. Likewise, a music station which was not locked up so the kids were in there trying to play with that. The bouncy castle rapidly deflated as the air compressor slipped out the back. My partner was quick enough to grab my daughter and one other child of of it before it went totally flat. The member of staff was in no hurry to attend this incident and said "it often does that"!! When we explained the fact that babies and toddlers are on there and it could easily suffocate them, little concern was shown and again told "It does it from time to time, it just happens" We said it must be reported to management to be resolved or do you want to wait for the worst to happen and then sort the problem?

User

Awful for taking kids swimming. Have to stand aimlessly in a queue for half an hour before they release tickets for the next session - challenging with small kids in tow!

I can’t help thinking it would be better to sell the tickets, then send people in to the cafe to wait to be called when it’s their time to go in?

Not sure why they built a shiny new centre with such a small learner pool, given that capacity in the old learner pool was such a problem.

The swimming timetable is fairly hopeless too. Closing the main pool for most of the weekend for a few people to do a cheap version of a Total Wipeout, rather having the pool open, seems pretty limiting.

The final verdict goes to my eldest - a keen swimmer. He would happily go swimming any time, anywhere. I asked him if he’d like to come swimming today - his reply: “no thanks; it’s just not as good as the old pool.”

All in all, an expensive flop in this household. And don’t get me started on the daft name...

User

User

User

User

User
