Our goal is to help you to maximise your leisure time and enjoyment of your garden by ensuring you use highly efficient equipment which gets the job done with the minimum of effort but gives you the satisfaction of a beautiful result that will be the envy of your neighbours, or for contractors, will be admired and appreciated by your clients.

Every garden is different, from small to large, level or sloping, contemporary or traditional. Every gardener is different too. Come to us for free, impartial advice as to the best machinery to choose to suit your garden and your budget. We will do our best to supply equipment which will be easy to use, simple to maintain and suitable for your own particular needs.

We offer a free local collection and delivery service subject to a minimum spend of £70 on servicing, repairs or machinery purchases (and sensible rates for clients further afield or spending less) to make it as easy as possible for you to ensure your equipment is serviced and maintained at the appropriate intervals. Furthermore, all new machines will be assembled and tested ready for use and demonstrated for you so you can quickly become familiar with its safe and efficient operation.

Our business has been established for more than 20 years. Started by Peter Sherrell as a spin off from a firm of agricultural engineers at Staddiscombe, Peter moved to nearby premises at Leyford Parks, building up a loyal customer base in the years leading up to his retirement. Peter concentrated upon machinery servicing and repairs, always offering good value for money.

This mantra remains the same today, having been extended to include the sale of a comprehensive range of new machinery following the purchase of the business by Steve Aldridge in 2012 when the business was restyled ‘Plymstock Garden Machinery’.

Having outgrown the Leyford Parks premises, and with an increasing number of clients finding us from West Devon and East Cornwall as well as bringing us machinery from their French properties, the business moved (May 2016) to new and easy to find premises in Valley Road, Plympton (next to Clean Spares).

The decision to become ‘Plymouth Garden Machinery’ was a logical one but our core values remain unchanged.

We exist to make gardening easier and more pleasurable for you the customer.
