A big thank you to all our volunteers, especially those helping us at the start of the construction phase for the new entrance.
They are all going above and beyond and their help with wayfinding is vital to helping patients attend their appointments on time, assisting visitors to help see their loved ones and ensuring staff find their way around the site while work is progressing.

Construction work has started on the new main entrance (south) today. The horseshoe car park will be closed to all traffic with no access for pick-ups or drop-offs.
There will be no pedestrian access to the dome from the horseshoe entrance or Churchfield House car park, however Costa Coffee and Lloyds Pharmacy will remain open.
Signage has been put in place of the changes that will be made to help staff, patients and visitors navigate around the trust during the closure.

The haematology department has been awarded accreditation for its care for patients with myeloma, a form of blood cancer that often affects several areas of the body, reflecting its position as one of the top centres in the country for this type of service.
A glass plaque was presented to the department by Myeloma UK – the only organisation in the UK that deals exclusively with this type of cancer – on 2 November.

When to hospital my grandmas cause had a pin in her leg and I had a seizure there and the 2 nurses that's came to help were amazing gave me a wheelchair to seat in and a cup of water

User

The paediatric staff on the wards were absolutely lovely. They handled my daughters case amazingly and were very patient and helpful with us; they made her very happy even while having tests done!

User

Thank you to the lovely staff of the acute stroke ward. It should have been me making you tea after your hard work but your kindness tonight with that simple cup of tea after a evening tinged with sadness you are beautiful and kind people.

User

Thank you to staff on C3 Head and Neck who looked after my son so well after his surgery yesterday. Also to Emma King Consultant and her team and the Day of Surgery Unit. He was so nervous.

User

My mum received the most excellent care cant fault the staff in A and E and on ward B4

User

Just wanted to give the staff at Poole Hospital a huge thumbs up and thank you from the Nixon family. My Mum was taken ill during a holiday to Swanage and she received exemplary care - from the Pararmedic's swift diagnosis and treatment in A@E to amazing care in the wards she was put in. She was treated and spoken to with kind and respectful attention and on discharge was given lots of information for her own GP and Consultants. We can't thank you enough. Congratulations NHS on 70 years :)

I was very surprised that during the well documented nhs winter crisis the care I have received at Poole hospital over the last week has been amazing.

Clearly there are pressures and staff are working extremely hard. But the care we received was absolutely phenomenal.

We have experienced a&e to acrewood and then bearwood I would like to personally thank each and everyone of the the nursing staff, care assistance and the consultants for the high standards and level of care they have given us.

Well done everyone for the hard work you undertake everyday with a smile on your face and kind words in your heart

I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to show my appreciation for the excellent service I received at Poole A&E last night. All the staff were extremely kind and caring, including the receptionists. I arrived feeling very anxious, but was reassured at reception, and then triaged almost immediately. The wait was what you would expect on a Saturday night, but when I was treated I received such good care from all the staff on duty. Thank you so much Poole Hospital!

User

All the staff were so kind at A&E (Teresa, Hannah, Mark) when i went in this week with broken wrist. Each one had a smile, even with all the pressure they're under and long shifts they do! Hats off to you all.

User

A big thank you to the doctors and nurses who treated my daughter this week at Poole hospital A&E and especially to the paramedics who acted so quickly and professionally and kept me calm on our journey to the hospital. The staff were so friendly, professional and compassionate. They offered both my husband and I tea and coffee while we were there and nothing was too much trouble. they interacted with our baby daughter the whole time. And offered reassurance. I really do rate you one of the best A&E departments we have. Thank you so much for all your help.

User

A big thank you to all the staff in A&E this morning. You’re all super stars... helpful receptionists, friendly and caring nurses and amazing doctors. A great example to all of the NHS.

User

The care I received yesterday from everyone in A&E was absolutely amazing...what wonderful, caring people they all are 5 to them. Such a shame that the same care could not be continued on the ward I was transferred to..transferred from A&E to the ward for observation after an anaphylactic shock..apart from the nurse who filled in property forms I was not asked if I was ok,no obs were done on me by anyone.A nurse strutted in and spoke to my husband like dirt, made him leave and wait in the car until they knew if I was being kept in or I was allowed home.Eventually discharged after midnight (still without having any checks done-pulse,sats,blood pressure) into a hospital that seemed it was on lockdown, the nurses on the ward didn’t give me any indication which way to exit the building. I followed the exit signs which led to locked doors.I saw a dr whilst I was trying to get out,he gave me instructions which led to another locked door.I rang my husband in tears, eventually saw him out of a window whilst I was walking down a corridor,he was outside talking to some nurses who were able to let me out as they were coming back into the hospital. 5to A&E who all went above and beyond,1to the ward staff, not a pleasant experience to go through on my own

User

Can’t fault the staff on Ansty award or A5 but actually getting a very poorly elderly man in to the hospital was a nightmare!

No where in front of the main entrance to park, no wheelchairs and a man who couldn’t walk more than a few steps... ran around like an idiot trying to get someone to help only to be constantly told that “you can’t park there!” How did they expect me to get him in to the building??!!!!

Eventually managed to get reception to call the ward who sent someone down with a chair to help get dad out of the car.... so stressful! Next time I’ll just call an ambulance for the 2 min journey! At least they can park near the door!

User

The care I received was very bad for a hospital. The nurses didn’t know how to look after me as I am disabled and I can’t do anything for myself, so my mum had to stay in hospital with me. We was in resus for 12 hours before we got moved to Ansty ward and when we got moved again to a ward the nurses put me on a air mattress which it kept going down all night so I was really uncomfortable, and the night nurses are was noisy as the day nurses. We didn’t sleep for two nights. They should have some nurses who can understand my disability

User

Shocking what I witnessed today on a personal level and with the treatment of a female outpatient who came in at 9am for an MRI was told the DR need to see her due to the scan results then made to wait till 5pm this evening to be told she has brain cancer all this while sat there with my 5 yr old on Nil by mouth to be told at 7pm to go home & they will call in the morning with a time to come back in still on Nil by mouth. The Nurses fantastic the management could not organise a piss up in a brewery.

User

Poole hospital everywhere else I’ve used has been absolutely fantastic but shame I can’t say the same about the nuclear medicine department. I suffer with severe anxiety and I was made to feel very uncomfortable when I went for not only my first appointment but also my second just a week later. I get some people have off days! But twice! I was called in and because I don’t look my gender I was questioned to make sure I was who I said I was. I’m sorry but who goes to have that test if it’s not them. Then secondly when having the scan they hardly spoke a word to me and when they did to tell me something they were very abrupt. I was on the verge of a panic attack and all I got was can you sit still! They had the door open whilst I was having my scan and having a chin wag about something completely irrelevant! I was disgusted! I hope to god they don’t make anyone else feel like that!

User

Mother in law has poor level of care in Poole hospital over the last two weeks. Cannot believe the NHS staff on her ward treat people in this way. Loss of dignity and feeling vulnerable.

User

In this hot weather it appears there are plenty of large floor fans in the corridors for staff but they are few and far between for patients.

User

I would suggest that if you want a blood test it is best to make an appointment. The walk in service is diabolical. This morning I arrived at the blood testing station at 9.40am my ticket number being 291. 275 was the next patient to been seen. Between 9.40 and 10.30am only 275, 276 and 277 were seen. At that rate my wait would have been near to four hours. No staff member explained how long we would have to wait or why it was taking so long. I was not prepared to wait for what could have been a 4 hour wait - so I left the hospital at 10.30am. Extremely poor service. If walk in patients cannot be dealt with in a reasonable period then the hospital should stop this service and only see patients with appointments.
