This is fun! I wonder if anyone has ‘found’ themselves in one of Poole Museum’s paintings.

A very sinister object loaned from our collection...

Well worth a visit

My sister and I loved the area of the old kitchen it brought back memories of childhood.

Everything is really explained well.

User

Visited the exhibition and bought and read The Good Bohemian. What a treat. Thank You Poole Museum.

User

Took my friends boy who's nearly 3 years old and it was good fun, lots of interactive bits he could play with

The staff were all very polite, friendly and helpful. The entrance to the building is incredibly spacious, modern and light, whilst the museum gives you a good insight to Poole and the surrounding area and local community. The cafe has a good selection of cakes and nice coffee, and has a lovely view towards the Quay. In the Summer months, it’s a great place to sit outside and cozy inside, during the winter months. Admission to the museum is free but donations are welcome. The shop is bright and airy, and the staff gave a friendly greeting when I arrived. It’s very well stocked and great for tourists who may want to take a memento of Poole back with them. I think it’s a great place to visit for for all ages.

User

The staff were absolutely lovely. They couldn't do enough for my son. The food in the cafe was excellent and reasonably priced. And the coffee was amazing. I would highly recommend a visit. I learnt a lot about our town. Absolutely fascinating.

User

Really good presentation with a wide variety of artists exhibited. Very good notes written for each one with exhibits grouped into the approach taken in completing each piece....although the information cards were all at hip-level for me (1.85m) so the freely available collection of notes was an infinitely better choice - for me. Unfortunately too the lighting was at my head height because of the low ceilings...but these are minor inconveniences. The fact is it's an excellent exhibition to have brought to Poole. Thanks to all involved. If you're local certainly don't miss it!

Our residents attended the Her-Story Exhibition at the Poole Museum this week and had a fantastic time. They found it very informative and were warmly welcomed by the staff. The venue was easy to navigate and wheelchair friendly, and we enjoyed a tasty visit to the tea shop. Thank you for your hospitality.

User

It was a real surprised to see the exhibitions at Poole museum. We enjoyed our visit and thank you for such a rare opportunity to see the painting from Rembrant's and other world class painters here. Admission free...that's a bonus too.

User

It is a very well laid out and presented museum with lots of local interest. The sketches on loan from the British Museum are stunning. And it's all for free!!

User

I visited a year or so a go, found it wonderful, amazed it was free too. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

User

I can't believe this exhibition is FREE!!!!

The lighting takes a little getting used to, as it is quite dark after coming in from a bright sunny day but once your eyes have grown accustomed to the lack of light, you can enjoy and marvel at the range of drawings which date back to Egyptian times. I came to see the Picasso drawings but there were also some wonderful famous artists' work, including Michaelangelo and David Hockney, plus contemporary artists. Being in a small gallery you can get up close and personal to each piece and really scrutinise the techniques empployed. Just wonderful.

User

Great experience with a good friend and our girl's both aged 5

User

Extremely well laid out & fascinating to read the history of the area.

User

Excellent facilities on 3 floors with good disabled access. Very good for all ages, with plenty to see from the very long history of the Poole area. Very well set out permanent and visiting exhibitions. The cafe has a lovely small balcony with a few tables and an interesting view of the old shops, houses and the quay. Reasonable prices here, but who's complaining when there is no entrance fee? Highly recommended.

User

Both beautiful and interesting. Well worth travelling two hours for.

User

A museum in a lovely old grain store. It has a modern cafe with terrace, coffee and food reasonably priced. We sat on the terrace overlooking the old town. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, well worth a visit. And it's FREE ENTRY

User

Visited with relatives covering 4 generations and it had interest for us all. We laughed about things from our lives being in a museum .... made us feel old! Reminisced about the kitchen which had stuff from my childhood. My dad aged 91 still has a lot of the tools that are on show. Lovely staff. Enjoyable couple of hours. Would recommend.

User

Very good museum worth a visit if in Poole. Free entry

User

Small but very good. The drawings on loan from the British Museum were excellent as we're the pottery exhibits. It's really worth visiting to discover about local history
