Red Kite Feeding Station

About Red Kite Feeding Station

We feed Red Kites every day .

Red Kite Feeding Station Description

Llanddeusant Red Kite Feeding Station was opened in the summer of 2002 by a local partnership with support from the Brecon Beacons National Park, the Welsh Red Kite Trust and various other notable wildlife organisations and individuals. The centre is designed to fit naturally into the landscape and to provide bird lovers the ideal opportunity to witness Red Kites, Buzzards and other birds feeding. WELL BEHAVED DOGS WELCOME Visitors may sit in the specially built hide only feet away from diving birds and observe them competing naturally for the meat provided by the feeding centre at regular times throughout the year.

Usually around 50 + birds may be seen gathering before the feed, soaring high into the sky until they start diving onto their food. In addition to Kites, Buzzards and Ravens may also join the fun!

“We would rather people come to see the bird at feeding stations than go tramping through the countryside looking for their nests and eggs”

To all the people that arrive with no cash and tell us they will pay online and we are trusting and kind enough to allow you to go into the hide and watch our stunningly beautiful Red Kites feeding on the meat that we provide every day 365 days a year , we are still waiting for your payments . Perhaps if this is you ,you should at least have the decency to come on here and thank all our regular customers ,as without them we would not be able to do this and you would have noth...ing to see . So perhaps next time we should maybe take your watch and promise to return it once you have paid , would you trust us to return it , no I didn't think so . If you cannot pay then do not go into the hide . We have had people from Holland, France Germany and as far away as America and Australia that have paid online after leaving yet people that live an hour or so away do not and expect every one else to pay for them . Sadly we have fallen for this trick many many times and are now going to have to turn people away that may have genually forgotten to bring cash .🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 🤬

Being the Easter weekend the hide will be really busy so please arrive before 3.00pm ( 2.30pm would be great ) If you arrive late we cannot guarantee that you will find a space in the hides . So please don't shout at us if you are disappointed no matter how far you have driven . Sorry.

Just to clarify the Red Kites are completely wild and you cannot hold them nor can we ,not even if it is your birth day .We have a purpose built hide for viewing the feeding of the Red Kites . The hide has some wooden benches to sit on and standing room with a shelf to rest a camera on . We feed at 3.00PM SUMMER and then 2.00PM when the clocks fall back the end of OCTOBER. You need to be inside the hides before feeding time , If you arrive after feeding time you may not b...e allowed into the hides because this disturbs the people already inside and waiting. NOISE must be kept to a minimum so that the Red Kites are not scared away. Children must be taken out if making too much noise as the noise will disturb the feeding .The feeding is not suitable for young children or babies . Remember these birds are wild and we have no control on how many will turn up or how soon they will dive in for the food , they don't take all the food straight away and will keep diving in until all the meat has gone . Every day is different and also weather dependant etc . PLEASE EAT, DRINK ETC ON ROUTE. WELL BEHAVED DOGS ARE WELCOME but must be on a lead. REMEMBER YOU MUST BE IN THE HIDE BEFORE FEEDING SO YOU WILL NOT BE TURNED AWAY . THEY ARE COMPLETELY WILD AND WE CANNOT PREDICT HOW SOON THEY WILL COME IN TO FEED .Charges are £4.00 per adult £3.00 per OAP £2.00 per child
