Ringwood Meeting House & History Centre Description

Ringwood Meeting House was built in 1727 by the Dissenters / Presbyterians, and later used by the Unitarians. The building was saved from demolition in 1970 and is now in the care of the Ringwood Meeting House Association Limited, a registered charity.

After refurbishment it was awarded a Grade II* listing being one of the most complete buildings of it's kind. As far as possible the original architectural features including the box pews were reinstated /retained.

The Meeting House is now, with its archive of photographs and articles, the official history centre of Ringwood. Exhibitions are held throughout the year, many are about local history while others support local groups, charities and artists
.
A large scale 'tithe' map and various artefacts are on permanent display in the upper gallery.

A variety of concerts and other events are held, from bluegrass to male voice choir, including twice monthly jazz concerts. The building's wonderful natural acoustics make for a perfect venue for live music.

All are welcome to look around the building, browse the archives or just sit and have a cuppa and chat with friends.

Note The building and forecourt are available for hire and we have licences for live music , sell alcohol and hold weddings. We are also Dementia Aware accredited.
