Rokill support Poole Hospital
We held our Christmas party recently, we traditionally hold it in January, and raising money for good causes is a key part of the event and our company values. This year it was held at the Hilton Hotel in Bournemouth and 111 colleagues attended the event. It was themed as winter wonderland and it certainly didn't disappoint! We sold raffle tickets, played heads & tails, held an auction and a £5 draw. Thanks to the generosity of our team we raise...d £1,805 and Rokill and Rocare are increasing this to a total donation of £3,600 to the Poole Hospital Radiotherapy Centre. Rokill’s Patrick Poore (A member of Rokill’s Technical Team) attended an event at The Downley School, High Wycombe organised by the Royal Warrant Holders Association. Patrick’s attendance is part of Rokill’s continued support of the Primary Futures initiative that has been implemented to help inspire young people make good career choices for their futures.
As usual there was a great deal of interest in what Patrick did in his everyday work, what pests he encounters and where his role has taken him……..whether work in domestic premises, a small restaurant or large multinational food manufacturing site. The children showed particular interest in the props Patrick brought with him and it looks like there may be a few budding pest controllers in the making!”

We had the privilege to visit Wiltshire Air Ambulance at their HQ at Outmarsh, Semington. The purpose built site is state of the art and was opened by the Duchess of Cornwall. They have to deal with numerous challenges not least operating in the air space above Salisbury Plain where the military Chinooks, Apache and Puma helicopters are active. The Novichok incident in Salisbury led to the temporary closure of the site for precautionary testing by government scientists. For...tunately the base is operational again. We met the paramedics who are trained to the highest levels medically and some are trained navigators! The pilot's skill levels are amazing having to land in ad hoc locations that they have never seen before. They are totally professional and despite having to deal with trauma on a daily basis they approach their work with a cheery disposition, passion, pride and enthusiasm in equal measure.
Rokill colleagues donated money at the Christmas party and the companies matched the sum raised resulting in a donation of £2,000 earlier this year. We choose to support the Wiltshire Air ambulance because they had touched the lives of one of our team. Thank you to all our colleagues whose generosity made this donation possible.

BBC Radio Solent invited Rokill Director Chris Turner to appear on the Lou and Alun show to talk about pest. Not suprisingly most of the conversation was about summer pests, particularly wasps. The wasps that built a full size nest in spare bed, was a source of much comment and the producer tweeted the photo! Listeners called in with questions relating to pests these included how to deal with wasps in a chimney and mice.

Rokill's Brian Duffin attended the launch of Inspiring Dorset at Holy Trinity Primary school Weymouth. Brian participated, along with Rokill's Roland rat in a"Whats my line ?" session which was extremely popular and very energetic as can be seen in the photographs below.
Rokill's Chris Turner attended the launch of Inspiring Dorset Secondary event at All Saints CE School Weymouth the following day.

Rokill Director Chris Turner appeared on the Alun Newman & Lou Hannon show on BBC Radio Solent today. The format was a live phone in with listeners. Chris answered questions on rats, fruit flies, wasps, bed bugs and ladybirds.

We are delighted to confirm Rokill Managing Director Alec McQuin has been elected President of the Windsor Eton & District Royal Warrant Holders Association. Windsor is the oldest of the Royal Warrant Holders local Associations, it was formed in 1810, it is older the the National RWHA! Alec was elected at the Historic Guildhall in Windsor, just outside the Castle entrance. Alec can be seen with his lovely wife Bernadette wearing the full chain and Windsor jewel, each Presiden...t has their name engraved on the links. Alec thanked everyone for their support and explained that the Windsor Eton & District Association has a special place in his heart and he promised to do his absolute best to make the year ahead a special one for our retiring Hon. Rokill Bird Proofing team in action
Rokill's superb bird proofing team have been in action in Cardiff. We recently carried out a proofing project for a retail client, the site was challenging as we had a small footprint to work from. We used a small self propelled hydraulic platform to provide access. and the team resolved the issue with netting and vertical wires to deter the pigeons Well done team!
