What a fab place. Just spent the weekend here, take into account the size of this site, the amount of people in it, all being very polite to each other, staff handle the volume of people around the pool, the lifeguards are on the ball, always watching the pool, all working as a team. We stayed in the touring and camping area, it’s huge! But all looked very well kept, pitches are a good size. We only booked 2 weeks ago..... reading the reviews made me very sceptical after I had booked. But I thought it was excellent for the size of the place. The guys on the camping gate, were also very nice to deal with. We will definitely return.

We’ve just had a 5 day break here and loved it!

Sad to see the bad reviews on here

We were in the cheapest static van, it was fine, basic and what you expect really from a basic van if you’re paying for Linen, then remember to pack towels (inc hand towel, tea towels!). Ohhh, and toilet roll as you only get 1 roll!

In the near week we were there no one came in an cleaned, but I don’t know if they should have as I’ve never stayed in a static van, but there was access to a dust pan and brush so easy enough to do it yourself.

The facilities on site are fabulous, both pools lovely and clean and the water was lovely and warm! The bar area and children’s afternoon/evening entertainment was fab.

If you’re staying in the touring and camping part it’s quite a walk down to the centre/reception/shop etc. Our van was the last one before you go through the barrier for the touring bit, and it took about 10 mins to walk down to the centre (and that’s going at a slow pace).

All staff we met were really polite, helpful and friendly.

Overall, I’d really recommend the site for the static vans but I can’t comment on the touring part (it looked nice when we walked around, but other people say otherwise!)

Sandford Holiday Park - I really hope the toilet areas etc on the tent and touring park are cleaned really well and the other issues addressed...we’d love to stay here with our camper but I’m rather put off by the bad reviews!

User

We stayed in the tent site for the 1st time im surprised to say how clean our toliets and wash rooms were kept the security were helpful the kids had lots of fun and the life guards were all very busy working hard to keep the children safe it was good to see and it was a very HOT weekend and busy with football fans we had no trouble at all the chef and waitress at the resturant were brilliant given that it was very busy the only comment i have to make is the sunday carvery was open with it being very hot it attracted allot of flys maybe they should look into keeping a cover or aome sort over the food otherwise a great stay we have been coming for a few years now

Love this little park not to big just the right size and so peaceful we ate on site 2 nights the food was reasonable priced and had 2 loverly meals the only problem was only one member of staff taking food orders on Saturday night it was very busy could have done with 2, the kids loved the outdoor the weather was loverly and the lay out of the whole park is good we enjoyed our stay perfect little gem for a base for our days out exploring, found all the staff very helpful and were on top of everything no overflowing bins ect and toilets were loverly and clean in all areas over all a loverly stay with good facilities and entertainment looked good too but we didn't see much of it as we was to busy and tired from exploring the beautiful surrodings the area has to offer nice clean caravan with hoover, ironing board, everything you need and more to enjoy your stay X

I’ve just returned from a weekend break from Sandford. We arrived Friday and returned home Sunday (unfortunately my husband has work Monday otherwise we would have stayed the whole weekend)

I was really nervous before arriving as some bad reviews I saw however I shouldn’t have been.

Reception on arrival was really friendly and welcoming. When we got to the caravan I was so happy! It was Modern, clean, compact but it served us as a family of 4 perfectly.

The entertainment was great! The kids were in their element during ‘starland krazy’ and the glow in the dark party on Saturday night. The bar had a great menu of cocktails for mum too!

The outdoor swimming pool was beautifully warm and on Saturday afternoon I could of easily mistaken that I was on holiday abroad, not in the UK!

The arcades were brilliant - we went to Bournemouth and they were very poor in comparison!! Park dean arcades every time!

I can’t comment on the restaurant as we didn’t eat there - however we did use the Sandford Chippy once and it was really well priced and good tasty fast food!

The Nisa on site was great for essentials. We picked up a fresh warm baguette every morning we were there!

My only gripe was on Sunday we wanted to watch the England World Cup Match and I felt Parkdean didn’t really take advantage of this and make it an event as such. There wasnt enough room in the front bar and upstairs the tv had no sound so we had to leave and go back to the van as no where to sit! Or even stand. Perhaps a big game (England only play World Cup matches like 3/4 times every 4 years if we are lucky!) like this should have been played on screen in limelight club?! Would have fitted everyone in and or probably made more £ from the bar.

Apart from that! We hope to return again soon!

Went to Sandford Bay from 20th - 23rd April.

The park looks very clean & tidy although the roads could do with some attention especially as they hire Dino Karts (majorly overpriced)

The facilities were all clean & tidy, it's a shame the outdoor pool wasn't open, considering most resorts open all their facilities and entertainment at Easter.

We were pounced on within 5 minutes of arriving by a member of staff doing a survey about cleanliness - very coincidental as we didn't have time to open the door let alone inspect the caravan.

Having paid £25 for early check in the bed guard which cost me an extra £15 wasn't there when we arrived, and had to be chased up.

The play park for the little ones, was absolutely chaotic with teens etc running riot, so much so they knocked my 2 year old over and he smashed his mouth open. Teenagers etc should not be aloud in a park designed for little ones. The bins were often over flowing too, despite seeing the van go round, it clearly wasn't often enough.

The caravan - the caravan was super clean & in a very good condition and smelt really fresh on arrival. We were under the trees in the shade the whole weekend which was a shame; but however, there is no outside furniture not even the cheap plastic tables & chairs, which would of been really nice.

Over all we had a really nice holiday, we would return but only via a Sun Holiday, I definitely wouldn't pay £250+ for a 3 night break here again.

User

Pro's: Nice indoor and outdoor pools, modern comfortable caravan, well stocked Nisa local, small but fun play parks, nice Costa coffee.

Con's: 75% of staff look like they're just waiting until home time, understaffed in some areas, bad indoor pool management, not many activities, 1 loo in the caravan smelled like a mens public loo despite seeming quite clean

To sum up, we had an ok time but not sure we would return and definitely not at full price. The restaurant food was a bit hit and miss and the entertainment could do with updating. The staff that were friendly and helpful were great. Our caravan was the best bit, nice and modern and close to the plaza. Prices in the bar etc were what you would expect for a holiday park.

Ok place for a few days. If you were there a week or more you would have to go off site and visit local attractions. Left today after 2 night stopover. 2 families with 3 kids 8 yrs and under - they loved it. First night we pitched on the tents and touring. Pitch was tidy and more than ample space. Had booked for electric pitch to find others (on the non electric side) had plugged into our socket!! We were close to fresh water (although the street lamp 1 ft away from the taps had exposed wires - was mentioned following morning to the shop/reception but nobody came to secure it!!) The wash/toilet block was close enough but far enough away so you couldn't hear or smell anything. Wash /toilet block was not brilliantly clean. Noticed smears on wall cubicle 2 of ladies, but as arrived late ish thought the attendant would sort in the morning. We had chippy tea, 1st night - never again in there! My other half went to order and no fish left, had to repeat order several times. I ordered scampi , it was a nice sized portion but well over priced. Got an over fishy smell in a couple of the last few bites- low and behold had a really dodgy tum the following morning. Went to toilet/Wash block, the attendant was there and all bar cubicle 2 was in use, so I had to use it, with said smears still on the walls. They were still there today!!!!

Entertainment was a trek away but good first night, can't comment on Saturday night as didn't go. Queue for drinks at the bar was a bit of a wait.

Swimming pool was a trek from our pitch but nice area- went Saturday morning weren't asked for proof of access by the attendant/lifeguard, he just gave us our coloured wrist band's so when we returned after lunch we didnt take our passes as assumed not required ( wrongly assumed)! We got turned away (by female attendant) after queuing for half hour then had to trek back to camp to get them!!! Annoyed wasn't the word. When we returned we found no attendant at all at the gate, she was too busy chatting to someone in the kiosk and guests just walking in, which is exactly what we did - again how annoying after our trek. Maybe she did her job correctly but the previous one hadn't, who knows to be fair!

Shop wasn't over priced but under stocked. Luckily we didn't need to get too much.

All said and done we and kids enjoyed our time together new memories made but with a few unecessary niggles!! Cleaning training and maybe issue wrist band's at check in rather than loseable (not that we lost ours but we would have had them on our wrists and visible to attendants) tickets.

Recently came back from my Monday - Friday camping holiday at Sandford. Lovely at first view, driving through the park to the touring and camping reception - scenery looked absolutely lovely. However when arriving at the camping reception, members of staff was very rude - almost like they had to be there. When arriving to our pitch, it was covered in rubbish and rubbish hanging off the fence. Later on in the day when we went to the shower block, very dirty and hairs all over the sink. Next day, we went to the block again. Apparently the cleaning staff had been at 17:15, when the time at present wasn’t even 17:00. Never seen any members of staff or security guards come and check to see if we was okay. Won’t be staying here again, wouldn’t even recommend it to my worse enemy. Very disappointed.
