Escherichia coli (or E. coli) can affect dogs, cats, and humans—and it can spread from animal to human or person to person. The bacteria is one of the most common types found in the world and it is a normal inhabitant of the gastrointestinal tract of all animals. Under certain circumstances, this bacteria can also be responsible for causing disease.
Enterotoxigenic E. coli, for instance, is an example of one type of Echerichia coli that c...an cause disease. Most commonly, this type of bacteria can cause food-borne disease specifically. In the case of enterotoxigenic E. coli, the bacteria produces a toxin that acts on the inside of the infected intestinal tract which causes diarrhea. This disease can start to manifest itself when contaminated food or water is ingested.
Infection in Dogs and Cats Dogs and cats can be infected with E. coli in a similar way that people can get infected; by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. There have been many recalls of commercial pet food diets and treats involving contamination with E. coli. Ingestion of these diets and treats could potentially cause infection in your dog or cat, and could potentially allow your pet to become an unfortunate carrier of the disease as well.
To protect your furry ones, make sure to keep an eye out for any recalls and news about E. coli. It's important to stay on top of diet information, as there is concern that feeding your pet a raw diet may result in increased risk of shedding E. coli in the feces.

Toxoplasmosis is a parasitic disease that is most commonly associated with felines, but it has actually been known to affect all warm-blooded animals, including dogs and humans. This infectious disease is caused by a parasite known as Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii...), which is most commonly found in raw meat, and on the surfaces of unwashed fruits and vegetables.
How Dogs Contract Toxoplasmosis Symptoms of Toxoplasmosis in Dogs Dogs will often contract the parasite by digging in infected soil or through the ingestion of the feces of an infected cat. Once the parasite enters the stomach and lower intestine, it quickly spreads through the body. Toxoplasmosis can affect any breed and age of dog, but for very young dogs and those with weakened immune systems, the disease can be deadly if treatment is not administered promptly.
There are two forms of toxoplasmosis a dog can suffer from – chronic and acute toxoplasmosis. Chronic toxoplasmosis can be difficult for a dog owner to identify because it exhibits very few, if any, clinical symptoms. Acute toxoplasmosis, on the other hand, tends to be much more symptomatic.
Signs and Symptoms of Toxoplasmosis in Dogs If you think your dog might be suffering from acute toxoplasmosis, you may start to notice several tell-tale signs. Here is a checklist that you can use to monitor your dog so your veterinarian will have the most comprehensive information at their disposal when treating him.

The veterinarian will also order a series of labs, including a complete blood panel, biochemical profile, and urinalysis to determine the levels of toxoplasma antigens in the body, and other determining markers to indicate the presence of the parasite.
Getting Treatment for Toxoplasmosis Treatment for toxoplasmosis depends on the severity of the infection. In very serious cases in which the dog has a suppressed immune system, the dog will usually need to be hospitalized for emergency care and treatment, but this is rare. The majority of toxoplasmosis in dogs can be effectively treated with a round of antibiotics, and by educating the owner on how to prevent their dog from being exposed to the parasite in the future.

We started selling fresh water fishing equipment to help the youth of fordingbridge , and many will remember the fishing competitions organised by us. We've helped the local school with work experience . With the help of Forest Veterinary Clinic (Roger Stubbs) we have rescued and rehabilitate Reptiles, and rehoused them. We also hold raffles funded by us to help support local charity's with in Fordingbridge.
We are registered firearm dealers for legal limit air guns . We also buy second hand air guns and also Tony is a gun smith for the above. We hold frozen sea bait/pike bait and a small amount of sea terminal tackle .
We are passionate about wild life and sell bug houses, hedgehog homes,frog homes ,etc. We have an extensive range of wild bird foods and products.
We sell specialist dog, and cat food, a small amount of frozen ,also natural healthy free from foods, natural treats, working dog foods and have done since we opened. Also small animals healthy foods + natural treats , reptile live and frozen, fish foods frozen +dry and accessories for all mentioned . We sell natural/normal health product and health care equipment .
We also provide pest control products. Tony is qualified for agricultural pest control.
