With all this terrible weather its been a chance to get a bit of maintaince done. 4 hours of power washing and scrubbing and the hulls are looking mint again! Looking at a copper coat now as this is a monthly grind! Next up polishing and oil change.

With the approach of storm Helene the sea conditions aren't looking good for a few days but it's still a great time to make a booking to get onboard Silver Halo. The bass and shark season are in full swing and we have some of the best grounds in the UK right on our doorstep. My holiday break is nearly over now and Im taking bookings from this Sat 15th Sept going forward right into 2019.
Expectations are high right now with September and October being the best months for the bigger bass, its also a great time for sharking!

AUGUST has been a great month onboard Silver Halo and I must say a BIG thankyou to all those who have helped, advised, supported, given feedback and had faith in what I'm undertaking. It's really truly appreciated!
I'm having a couple of weeks break now but bookings are still open from 15th Sept onwards, right through the winter and into 2019.

It was a tougher day today for my anglers with a few bass and pollack to 5lb, along with red, grey and tub gurnard, mackerel, scad and the mighty pout all making apperances. Todays shark trip went pretty well. Father and son, Matt and Tom bagged 2 blue sharks each and Adam and myself had one each (thanks guys!)...not bad going for a 4 hour drift. On the way out we had some really playful dolphins around the boat and I got some great underwater footage....I will post that and pics of the biggest shark (approx 75lb) when I get them! Another great day on Silver Halo with over 25 bass caught between 4 guys, 2 of whom had never caught bass before. Other fish included black bream, horse mackerel, pout, mackerel and pollack. Lots of spaces in the 2nd half of Sept and Oct still available. silverhalocharters.co.uk

Today I took Simon, Andy, Tony and Ryan bass fishing. They chartered the complete boat so had plenty of space and I was able to give them all the help they needed (Tony and Ryan were first timers). The day went really well with loads of nice bass being caught and released. Fish of the day went to Ryan...it was also his first ever bass and a cracking 8.5lber! One of todays requests was to catch some cod on slow pitch jiggs. I thought it pretty optomistic especially inshore but Jimmy did manage to get one nice cod at 7.9lb. Other fish over the side were several small pollack and chunky mackerel, along with an annoying amount of pout whiting! We also spent an hour or two in tight to the rocky shore flicking lures with light spinning rods and were rewarded with two beautiful wrasse. Another fun day onboard Silver Halo today! Several nice bass were caught on the drift by first timers, Paul and James. Despite tiny tides and a wind that was more Southerly than forecast they had a good handful of fish each, the best going just under 7lb (but it looked bigger). Two other much larger fish were sadly lost by getting into the wreck! I still have spaces in the diary so please get in touch if you fancy targeting these or other fish.... Today I took Chris and John out bassing. The tides were medium and decreasing and we found the bass very fussy, but we did still manage to find a few nice sized fish. Best bass went to John at just under 8lb, totally smashing his previous schoolie best!

We enjoyed a great day out last weekend, first a coastal tour of Torbay, including a few stops to throw a line in for mackerel, then anchored off Paignton for superb views of the airshow and a wonderful picnic lunch. Matt was a great host and I highly recommend his cruises to anyone!

Thanks Matt for a brilliant time. All in all an excellent day out topped off by lots of decent pollock too 9.5lbs, a few pout whiting and a cod (well done Pete)! Lovely boat, quality tackle provided, good company, nice weather, great value but most of all a really nice friendly knowledgable skipper! Nothing was too much trouble for Matt and he coped with our amateurishness with patience and humour! I would thoroughly recommend silver halo charters and we will be booking another trip out soon. It was my husbands 50th Birthday yesterday and his brother and family bought him as a surprise a fishing boat trip with Matt at Silver Halo Charters. He's never been sea fishing before on a boat and wasn't quite sure about it at first as he's always seen them advertised when we are on holiday but never really been interested. It was a brilliant day and Matt catered for all our needs. He put us on the fish every time. Had a brilliant day's fishing yesterday with a few friends on Matt Forrester's boat, the Silver Halo. It was just as I like it - inshore, not deep water and casting out lures to catch fish you'd want to catch on light tackle, and to top it off, the sun was shinning and the seas were calm. A great way to spend a day off and beautiful to see the Devon coast from the sea. We were also lucky to see a pod of dolphin and sleeping seals on the rocks.

I found that I didn't need to be an expert, Matt was on hand to offer help and advice, he also had all the equipment if it was needed.

Matt is a quiet and confident helmsman, that knows the sea and his boat well.

I'm happy to recommend Silver Halo Charters.

Great day drift fishing livebaits across wrecks. Caught some lovely bass to 6lb 10oz. Neither my brother or I have boat fished for years, and never drift fishing, but Matt was very accommodating and great at putting us on the fish. Recommended without hesitation.

Great 1.5hrs out mackerel fishing with these guys, definitely recommend them.
