Visited today with some friends including a small child, food was amazing and beautifully presented! The customer service was just as great, the female staff member which I am assuming was the duty manager went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and was so good with little oscar bringing colouring, and cheering him up when he had a little accident! Will definitely be visiting again! Keep up the good work �
Typically, most pubs you go to the cocktails are not great. We came here Monday evening and was pleasantly surprised! Plenty of alcohol in them, loads to choose from and 2 for 1! Also the 50% off food was a hit! Turtle bay used to be our favourite but definitely will be returning here as turtle back has got terrible lately!
My fave place to eat out with my family, there foods is so gd my boys love it there, we live there 50% off on Mondays as its great for a meal out in the skool holidays

Fantastic Christmas party yesterday evening, buffet food was excellent, plenty of choice and lots to go around. Staff were very accommodating, and service was perfect. Will definitely visit again. Thanks all!
Came in with a few friends after we hadn’t had the best afternoon - my friend had had her bag and phone stolen outside, so we came in a for a few cocktails and the bar staff were so great with us their service was second to none and we felt so well looked after - so much so we ended up feeling so relaxed and chilled despite everything that had happened beforehand.
Fantastic staff and a special mention to Candice who was particularly empathetic and helpful with us!
Can’t forget to mention that the cocktails were really nice and the food was delicious!!
Came in for an afternoon drink yesterday and was served by an extremely helpful and friendly barmaid who clearly took pride in her work and recommended a new cocktail for me to try which i loved! As we left i actually commented to my partner that she was exactly how a member of bar staff should be....so top marks to her and S&L, people are often quick to criticise but not to praise!
I made my second visit to the Slug and Lettuce on Friday with my daughter and Mum. After reading some of the views I was wondering what it would be like on the second visit. My first visit was back in August with my daughter and we had a lovely lunch. On Friday we were not disappointed. I had the open chicken pie and the only thing that stopped me from finishing it was that there was too much. It was delicious, and piping hot. Even my mum was impressed, she had Scampi and had the same problem, just too much to eat. Wonderful.
Four of us went for a meal on Monday night, food was very good service was very good, he did forget to bring the tomato ketchup but he was very busy, as the food was half price Mondays is the day to go.
Despite the negative reviews our personal experience was very pleasant. I had the sausage and mash and my wife had the salmon fishcakesvand both meals were tasty, hot and well presented.
The wait was 40 minutes but they were busy and the guy taking the order warned me before I ordered that it would be that long so no complaint there.
Staff were friendly and helpful and I tipped them which I only do if I am happy with the service. Nice atmosphere with families eating and very relaxed.
We will happily go again when in Southampton.
Been in slug and lettuce a few times . I find the staff extremely friendly and helpful as I'm visually impaired. Carrying drinks to the table . I love the veggie options they are tasty and very well priced .
Very confusing place on a friday night ...its a restaurant .... NO ...its a bar ....SORT OF.... its a club.... TRYING to be! Make your mind up and be good at one or two things not average at many. Friendly staff but just not enough if them. 20 mins to get served is just not ok!
Quiet for a Sunday slow service food was good value but cold not that impressed ! Toilets up a lot of stepps so beware
Having travelled from the isle of Wight we went in for a meal before heading off to the Robbie Williams concert only to find that food had to be booked in advance so left - very disappointed and hungry. We had loads of .obey to spend but took it elsewhere - your loss!
Came down to Southampton last weekend to catch up with some Uni pals and went to the Slug on Friday night.
Service at the bar was a tad on the slow side but we all loved the Dj down there and he was dropping some great tunes..maybe more staff at the bar would be good but well worth checking out the music.
Went on a Friday night. Had to wait about 20 minutes to get served and that was every time we went to the bar .i know of several people that gave up and left. Lack of bar staff leads to lower takings !!! The staff that were there were polite but they were run off their feet.not fair on them
Waited 27 minutes to get a bottle of wine last night. 7 large groups were served before me, all of whom arrived at the bar after me. Haven't seen service like it before. It's a bar workers job to pay attention to who is at the bar and who is next in line to be served and that simply was not the case. The place was also extremely dirty, especially the toilets. Having said all of that, the music was great, there was a good atmosphere, door staff were friendly and there was no trouble at all despite large groups of people drinking.
Poor cocktails. Poor service. Staff did not ask how our meal was. The side of chips showed us that their oil clearly needed changing. And after showing my Partnership card for 20% off food no money was deducted at the till. Did not moan about that because I was purely fed up already.
Cocktails are BOGOF. Reason is they make enough for one glass then fill 2 Glasses with ice and share it between the 2 definitely not value for money at around £9 very disappointing.
