FIRE BARRIERS..I am trying to get a list of anyone from anywhere in the UK who has had fire barrier issues of any sorts in their new build homes. I have records from Exeter...where I found the issue to start with..and I other records from areas in the UK...but I need more info..so where ever you are...whatever developer..let as many know..and let me know by DM...or email me on getresults@snagaroo.co.uk...I simply can't let this serious issue subside and will fight for everyone's safety. More homes to snag. More positive results. Another client got results yesterday. Everything on their list of 168 issues we noted, and just 5 were rejected as 'within tolerance'....This isn't unusual with our reports...We know we are good at what we do and if you know someone who needs our help, let them know too, . Anyone not sure what to do about the fire barriers issues. Here is what you need to do. If your home is a timber frame, you should contact your developer as soon as possible. Snagaroo.co.uk suggest you do this by email to an email address of the customer care department or, if you have it, a Director or Managaing Director of your developer. Ask for your home to be inspected immediately. It is a LEGAL responsibility of your developer to ensure these barriers are in place. ANY... barrier missing or not in place properly is a FAIL. If the developer says they do not need to inspect because the home has been signed off as built to building regulations by a warranty provider i.e NHBC and others, they are wrong. They MUST inspect your home at your request. If they can prove your home does not need the inspection in another way then demand a letter of compliance from them. This means they take the responsibility of any defect possibly found in the future as a company liability, which would also become a liability against directors personally if found to have been issued incorrectly. Once an inspection has taken place, irrespective of the pass or fail result, you then need to get the letter of compliance sent to you for the reasons mentioned above. The fix is an easy fix for the developer. Retro fitting of barriers is easy and should not take long, hence done immedialty the issue is found. One developer suggests one site in Devon has a 40% fail and others in the region are currently on a 10% fail, so if you do the maths the number of fails nationwide is enormous. Remember this is on the whole an issue of timber framed buildings. Traditional construction can be signed off without the barriers but no harm asking your developer what ever kind of construction you have. #getresults Snagaroo
