Had a lovely relaxing Spa Day as a birthday present. Many thanks to Therapist Christine for a fantastic facial, my skin lapped up the treatment and I felt so relaxed I almost nodded off! We made full use of the beautiful pool, jacuzzi and the sauna. Lunch was delicious (I can recommend the Bento box) and we ate on the terrace in much appreciated shade. After our lunch we lazed on the sun loungers in the treatment area of the spa and relaxed. All the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful, definitely a 5 star experience.

User

Celebrated my friends 40th birthday on a disco and pamper themed night away. Couldn't fault the staff who were really helpful with cake and decoration arrangements. George was great at sorting everything for us. Nothing was too much trouble!

User

Broke down with students on our college bus from Newbury college and it’s the best place to be. The staff have really accommodated us with cold drinks for the staff and students. We thanks your so so sooooo much. Lovely place lovely staff

User

What lovely staff you have congratulations to them all.

I was a bit disappointed that the bedroom was a bit grubby no tea in the caddy but plenty of coffee.

I did notice there was what, looked like blood on the side of the bath, which made me feel a little unsettled.

Breakfast this morning was ok but not as good as I thought it might be. But you had a lot of guests so I understand it's not that easy. The fresh fruit was certainly not fresh the oranges were wrinkly apples looked rather old the skin was not fresh.

But again the staff were lovely and helpful. So thank you.

Visited here for the second time, with my partner and our 2 kids 7yr old and 2yr old, for peppa pig world 2 day break during Easter and both times found the hotel staff to be excellent and super child friendly, great touch with VIP robes for the kids along with cookies and drinks on first entering your room. Games room was also a stand out from other hotels offering the Paultons Park breaks. Was more impressed first visit in March with our hotel room which had a double sofa bed, as second time we had bunks beds which wasn’t ideal for a 2 yr old, a triple room on previous visit felt more spacious than a family room this time round. The hotel is very good in all areas but 1 from my experience, the spa it’s self, on both occasions we went I felt as a family we wasn’t the type of clients wanted, which doesn’t fit in with the great service by the rest of the hotel, 1 incident we felt rushed in and then out to make way for individual swimmers, and then felt a little bit profiled as I went into the jacuzzi with my boy who has to be 8 yrs old to be in, lady from the desk came out, asked his age then said he couldn’t be in their, fair enough I got out went back to main pool, 3 minutes later a family of 6 then go in their, with 3 kids clearly younger than my boy, they enjoy nearly 10 minutes and are never approached. The spa desk service is the only part that needs working on to encourage family’s back. I would probably go again, because of the outstanding service the main part of the hotel gives to your kids. But also my kids biggest enjoyment of any hotel is the swimming pool time and that would always play a factor in going again as well.

We visted the spa on Monday as part of my daughters Birthday celebeations. When I booked the visit back in May there was no comment about the refurbishment that is obviously taking place, so I was quite surprised to see workmen and the level of noise in the 'quiet' area. My daughter has worked the fitness industry so when we went to use the pool she commented that there was a problem as the pool was very cloudy and you could not see the bottom of the pool. We went to use the steam room only to find it was not working. My daughter went to the reception and asked the person there if there was a problem to be told "oh yes the steam is not working" this was not advised when we checked in. When she mentioned about the pool and that she had experience in pool management the person was very dismissive. I have to say that the attitude was neither helpful nor professional and we were very disappointed with our experience !

Visited the Solent Hotel for a meal in the main restaurant on Saturday 7 April 18. It was a special occasion and I was dining with my wife. The newly refurbed restaurant is awful. No table linen and my rotisserie chicken dish was too dry to finish. For three modest courses we were charged £120 which felt very expensive for such a poor ambience. The feel is unwelcoming and very reminiscent of a Premier Inn which was very disappointing for a 4 Star hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive so the whole evening was special in the sense that it was a shocking disappointment. We had our wedding reception here 25 years ago and we also use the place for business. It is such a nice hotel it seems a pity to spoil it with a poor dining experience. Come on guys get your act together please! Nick Boon

As a gift for my friends 30th Birthday we came to the spa on Monday and we were very disappointed with the treatment received upon arrival.

We arrived around midday and went straight to the spa and fitness reception - we were told to make our way down to the spa area and we would be seen to, so we did just that.

We waited somewhere between 5-10mins to be seen to. During this time a member of staff walked past asking if we were ok, I stated we were waiting for someone to check us in. That was the last we saw of her.

I had to go back up to the spa and fitness reception, the lady on there then came down to the spa area with us and handed up forms to fill in. By this time it was around 1215.

We both filled our forms in in the relaxation room thinking someone would collect it from us, as this has happened on all previous occasions I have been to the spa. This did not happen so I took the forms out to the reception desk and went back into the relaxation room to await our robes etc.

These did not materialise until my friend (whose 30th we were there to celebrate) went to the reception desk where 4 members of staff were stood chatting. Soon after this at approx 1245 (45 minutes after arrival!!!) we were taken to the changing room to get changed into our robes.

On top of this we were not made aware that there was an aquacise type class on in the pool. Had we known we would have had a later lunch to go for a swim beforehand.

The lunch, massage/facial and friendliness of staff from this point was spot on but I was embarrassed and upset that this had happened on what should have been a celebratory day for us.

User

6 of us arrived for my daughter’s hen do. We arrived early so didn’t expect our rooms to be ready. Initially things were very disorganised & although we could change for the spa, we were kept waiting for the robes, then our rooms were still not available after the 2pm check in. Eventually though we did get to our rooms & were able to start our day. The spa was busy & the treatment area didn’t appear to be able to cater for the number of people using it, not enough loungers, beds in the relaxation area. We did however use the outside jacuzzi which was an added bonus however be aware that this can become very slippery, there was no rubber matting or handrail & 1 of our ladies in the group did have a nasty injury slipping on the decking. We couldn’t fault the restaurant food was good and well presented. 1 of our group has serious allergies & I couldn’t fault the staff for their understanding, concern & care & appreciated the lengths they went to in dealing with her menu - well done!

Overall we quite enjoyed our stay, even with the little mishap, and my daughter enjoyed her hen day/evenings.

Booked for 6 of us for a relaxing spa break. Was disappointed to find the pool had around 10-15 small children. Was not a relaxing break as pool had children diving and was full with inflatables and pool noodles and very noisey. Great if you have kids but would not book for a relaxing quiet get away. Rooms are basic.

Massage was really good though.

We have just returned from our spa day and did generally enjoy most of our time there however we were left very disappointed with afternoon tea and the service regarding our friends with allergies.

The waiter wasn't aware of any requirements. He then went to ask and returned with 3 boxes of food, not afternoon tea or anything like it at all.

In the box was big mozerella cheese balls amongst the olives. This was a big mistake as well as looking rubbish after paying a lot of money we were surprised that this had come out. We were told all wheat and gluten free and dairy but asked the waiter to double check and he returned to remove the boxes. 10 minutes later to then return with the same boxes minus the cheese which had obviously just been removed.

So after a long wait when we arrived before being allowed into the swimming pool, no cups for drinks in the spa area, our treatments being mixed up and asked if we had changed them (which we hadn't), my friend being left for 20 minutes before her treatment as they had forgotten about her, no food for lunch for my gluten and wheat free friends even though requested weeks before hand, rushing what we did eat because we had booked the outdoors Jacuzzi which was really dirty and not being forewarned about small children being in the swimming pool in the morning lots of noise and splashing, our relaxing day for my friends 40th birthday was not as relaxing as it was supposed to be.
