Someone once said when you love someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s you lose them piece by piece and then again when they die 😢 ‘Rapidly shrinking brain’ is how doctors described it. I wouldn't wish Dementia or Alzheimer's on anyone. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move and unable to eat or drink. There will be people who will scroll by this message... because dementia or Alzheimer's has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Dementia or Alzheimer's. To help you, and them, remember and talk about the best times of your life with them. They may not appear to remember but who knows. It always amazes me who and what is remembered by the smiles and hand gestures that are made, however small. It is good for you as carers, and friends.
