We visited the show on the first weekend as a family of four our two children 5 &6 had a great time. We were surprised at how many activities there were for there for there age group. There favourite thing was the bumper boats and mummies was the speed boat experience.

Lots of places to eat and drink and the entertainment was a great mix of adult and child fun.

A great family day out! We will be back!

User

This was the first time we went there. The best day according to the kids 😀. We had a fantastic day. At first I didn't think we would enjoy or the kids but I would definitely go again. In fact the kids can't wait until the next year. The favourite thing for us was the Sunseeker boats. We had VIP tickets and loved every minute of it. The boats are so beautiful and so luxurious.

The weather was lovely and even had couple of free Prosecco's which is always a +.

Lovely day.

Our first time at a boat show and we really enjoyed ourselves despite the weather on the 21st. We are planning our first (2nd hand) sailboat purchase so we loved being able to get onboard such a variety of boats - some exhibitors were hiding from the constant drizzle which made it a bit harder, so we missed out on the Hallberg Rassy's, Najad's etc. We had absolutely no problems with anyone being snooty on Princess yachts or Sunseekers and the girls with the Oyster's were more than happy to get us onboard their gorgeous yachts even when they know you blatantly can't afford them. We booked an Onthewater trip which was with Commodore Yachting's Bavaria 37 and it was fantastic (even the weather cleared a little), giving us a chance to take turns at the wheel and sail handling - the Commodore Yachting team were great, very helpful and fantastic instructors. We were at the show from opening until when our legs gave out at about 16:30 and would definitely make the long drive to go back next year. We had a wonderful day which would have only been made better if the weather had cooperated more.

Never been before so I tagged along with my partner and it best day out so far! Bought a few a things along with bargains prices unfortunately didn’t buy a boat it out of my price range😂

Definitely looking lush inside some of luxurious boat and an eye opener!

Will visit next year on your 50th anniversary event and she’ll bring tinie weeny more money next time.

Only one thing, food and drinks are expensive but all nice day out

John

User

Great day out finding out all about different types of boats from sailing to motor boats of all shapes and sizes and all pockets! Plenty to do and keep your interest- I especially love getting down onto the floating pontoons and onto actual boats- you can’t beat The Yacht Market Southampton Boat Show for actual Boats on the Water!

User

Always a great day out and good value too with up to two kids free on an adult ticket.

Plenty of boats to see and you can even try out boating if you get there early enough to book on.

Good selection of onsite catering, though this can be expensive £3.20 for a small tub of chips is a bit steep. There are still the odd gems around like the ice cream van that sells nice hot coffee for £1 a cup, and a single cone with a flake for £1.20 instead of the inflated £2.50 at some vendors.

User

Very nice day out for kids they loved it jumping all over the nice shiny boats etc, no where near enough seating to sit down and have a rest , and there seems to be more non related products being sold there for example, hot tubs, conservatory’s, pergolas over priced garden furniture, investment groups and many more .

But overall a good day for us all .

User

I agree with everyone's opinion of "better than you" attitude by the boat sales people but despite of them we had a good time and bought some stuff for our boat from really lovely people at the stands of which there were not as many as at excell boat show in London as the variety of boat product is concerned. More boating clothes than products like for boat plumbing etc.. . Why do I want to go to a boat show to buy a Jacuzzi or garden furniture is beyond me...

User

First time at the Southampton boat show so can only compare it to the previous visit to the London one we went to in January. This was far better with so much to see and plenty of boats to look at on the water. The only complaint I have is there was no seating and with so much to see and parents in their 70's we couldn't stay as long as we wanted (very tired legs). There was some seating in the refreshment areas but these were always full, benches around the site would have been great. Overall we all had a great day and would definitely come again.

User

Boat show was great as usual. However I’ve been going for many years and this year it really felt like the boat prices had gone up massively.

I don’t mean the gin palaces, not interested in them.

I mean the price range, that normal people save for.

Sorry Feeling boats £30k for a 18 footer sports and £60k for a 24 footer sports is mental.

Worrying times

User

Been there many many times and they have all been great. This year was a shame. Even my 10 year old said there were not so many boats this year and hopes there will be more next year. So if a 10 year old notices a change like that it can't be good. On the plus. Found everyone friendly and the sunseeker stand was as always fantastic and the princess stand was also impressive. So if you fancy going and can go. And kids under 15 are free.

User

The show was good this year but definitely a lot quieter I don't think there was many people there this year as last also I agree with other peoples comments it is a shame to see the show shrinking as it is One of the best shows to go to in the UK . I purchased the platinum tickets which I do each year and yet again they will well worth the money . The Sunseeker stand was as impressive as it was last year and the staff on the static stand are always polite and accommodating to let you walk round them and dream of a lottery win so you can talk to them seriously next year LOL

User

Some of stand staff were a bit pretentious! Looking us up and down, really not appreciated at all! I think some could do with some customer service experience. However, the good outweighed the bad. Some of the knowledge was outstanding as we are looking to purchase our first sail boat in a few years. We had a lovely day with the weather. Also the toilets were spotless.

User

It would be nice if ticket allowed you to re-enter the show. They don't allow you to leave and re-enter because they want you to be captive and have to spend lots of money in the over-priced on-site food stands. My family left at lunchtime and ate at IKEA for a fraction of the price and didn't bother coming back.

This was a great shame.

User

Had a 3 hour drive and the show on the whole was good although not being able to leave and re enter was a poor decision. Maybe that's to keep a captive audience and force you to pay £18 for a burger a hotdog, portion of chips and 2 drinks, all of which was poor in quality. We would have stayed longer but hunger got the better of us. Exhibitors should also remember not to judge people. If you can't treat me civilly I'm not going to give you my business.

User

Disappointed vs last year. Little Opportunity to get on the water if you are a child. The Sunseeker “effort” was very poor this year. Struggling to see what the point of the boat show is ?

User

An annual event for us and aways a good day out. Lots of good advice from manufacturers and dealers as well as picking up quite a few boat bits and early Christmas presents. Seems to be a shortage of yachts on display this year with only a few big players in force. I could list quite a few builders who were either not present at all this year or only had a limited presence. Was noticeably quite for a Sunday, and this was being felt by the traders. Not sure if this is the event organisation or a bellwether for dark economic times ahead. Either way, exhibitors were very cheery and helpful as every.

User

1st time so can't compare others.

Quite liked it. Good selection of boats and Chandlery outlets; even managed to find some trim I was looking for which was great.

Why tho ,have the larger princess and sunseeker models there if not allowed to view except by invite only. It's a show so show them off. Some sales people I feel need to take a lesson in being more respectful and stop turning your nose up to the average punter. They couldn't afford 1 and nor could most people but find yourself winning the lottery the following week, you'd remember who looked you up and down.

Nowhere near enough seating around some food stalls. We ate standing up!!

User

One of the highest blessings in being considered by many to be amongst the best Caribbean musical entertainers in the UK, is the opportunity to be invited to perform at the very best venues and events around the country. Some amazing exhibitors and great audiences throughout the entire week of the Boat Show - very much look forward to working with you again in the future - Gary (Steelasophical Caribbean)
