Young patients at Southampton Children’s Hospital are set to celebrate their ‘everyday heroes’ during a fun-filled week of activities from Monday (8 October).
Whether it is mum or dad, a brother or sister, a teacher or their favourite member of staff, patients will spend time drawing, writing stories, discussing and making props that resemble the people they look up to.
The initiative forms part of National Play in Hospital Week, which is organised by the National Association... of Health Play Specialists (NAHPS) and supported by charity Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Thank you so much xx
We would like to extend our gratitude to all the AMAZING medical and support staff who treated our 2 year old, Wilbur for concussion following a head injury.
The care, dedication, expertise and service provided by all was nothing short of phenomenal and we are so incredibly grateful, words really cannot describe!

Thanks to a lot of pediatric cardiology department, especially doctors who took my child's intervention, they are real angels who save the lives of our children. I worship them in front of them, thank you very much.
Thanks a lot team E1 Ocean Ward Cardiology . You are the most special. You are the angels what saves lives. A massive thank you to all.
Southampton Children's Hospital in particular E1 Ocean Ward and PICU are absolutely incredible! Our son would not be here without them and the kindness and support they have shown all of us is fantastic.
Really helped us through a difficult time, the staff there are awesome and truly care about what they're doing xx
PICU and G2 thank you so much for looking after my boy so lovingly! Also for encouraging us to take time for self care during such a stressful time! You hear so much bad stuff about the NHS, but without it, my baby boy may not be here! The staff are amazing. Thank you again.
Our son came in for surgery yesterday & although g4 had no bed for him g2 neuro accommodated him and looked after him fabulously, thank you all so much to Sophie and her team you are just amazing
Our 7 year old was admitted to hospital on Saturday night. There are no words to express our gratitude to the Southampton Children’s Hospital staff, from the triage nurse and A&E staff who promptly identified our Leo needed immediate treatment, to the nurses and doctors in the Children’s ward. Their willingness to go above and beyond their jobs in the physical and emotional care of a stressed little boy (and one or two quite scared parents) is both impressive and remarkable. Leo is back home today and all is well thanks to them. A massive thank you to all.
Never been there before but the staff are friendly & helpful, they were really good with our little man! Only thing we didn't like was the fact that dad had to sleep in a different room witch had another bed & baby cot in so we could of all went into 1 room & saved more space :-)
I would like to thank all the staff on G1 for looking after my grandson Harvey and my daughter this last week. You are all amazing. All staff are very friendly, understanding, patient and really help in such a stressful situation. Thank you all for all your help
I think sometimes we forget to be thankful for the things we naturally take for granted.
Being up in Southampton children's hospital (PMU) has put so much in perspective. The long term patients who help lift the spirits of all the other patients and all the parents being there for each other was admirable.
The spirit of the nurses, doctors, hcas and everyone else who is part of the wards were amazing! They always had the time, they always wanted to help.
A special mention to the children's endocrine nurses too who looked after Vinnie in John Atwell today. I'm so grateful for each and everyone of you.
Thank you so much!
