We have had lots of Easter fun here at Starfish today. The children put a lot of effort into making some wonderful Easter Bonnets to bring in for our competition and parade, they loved showing off their creations and paraded around the nursery proudly in their bonnets. The Easter Bunny paid a visit to the Jellyfish room while the children were all out in the garden, he left a little trail for them to follow to hunt out some yummy treats! We would like to wish you all a very Happy Easter and a lovely bank holiday weekend.

The children have enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day today. Some of the children brought their favourite books in to share with their friends too.

The Jellyfish children didn't let a little bit of rain stop them from having fun yesterday. They were already in the middle of excavating their dinosaurs when the heavens opened and they didn't bat an eyelid! Having frosen dinosaurs into eggs they were determined to get them out, they used many different tools and experimented with pouring warm water over them to help melt the ice and release the dinosaurs.

User

The Jellyfish children have been experimenting with what happens if you put chalk into water. They discovered that it becomes like paint and they can mix different colours just like they do with paint!

We would like to congratulate Milly on achieving her level 3 qualification, making her a fully qualified Nursery Practitioner. Milly has worked hard to complete her qualification and has done so in 18 months, despite some significant time off poorly. We look forward to helping Milly grow and develop further in her role.

The Rainbowfish children have been busy experimenting again! They made some ice cubes using water, food colouring and bicarbonate of soda. After freezing them overnight, they used a pipette to squeeze vinegar onto the ice cubes. They waited quietly in anticipation to hear the fizz that was coming from the ice cubes as the vinegar made contact and they watched the bubbles as the ice melted. As you can see, they found it very exciting!

Our Rainbowfish children helped to create a farm themed tuff tray today. Using coloured rice, dry spaghetti and weetabix they created different environments such as water, grass and mud for their farm animals to explore. Once they had created the tray the children played with the animals, mimicking how they walk and sound!

We viewed this nursery as a option for when i return to work and where very impressed. We instantly knew this is where or little one, who is 9 months old, would be going. The management and room leader had the answer to all our questions and understood a stay at home mum leaving her baby to return to work. The nursery was well kept, clean and the staff where amazing with my little boy who was off crawling around. It’s a huge change for our family but the staff are supportive and encouraging. We where told about there Ofsted rating, food hygiene, staff qualifications, plans for the garden and the process of him attending one day a week. We’re really looking forward to getting the paper work sorted and start the settling in sessions. We really loved the tapestry (baby facebook) and the concept of everything is taken care of (food, drink, milk, nappies) I’m excited but also still very nervous about leaving my little one but I have confidence the staff will take great care. Also Thankyou Lisa for understanding my worries and helping to settle my mind on a lot of things!

Wanted to post something today after reading the report that came out today from Ofsted.

My daughter, who started 3 months ago when she was 6 months has settled so well into nursery life.

I have honestly liked everyone and they have all shown so much care and love to Olivia.

She is happy and I believe that is down to all the lovely nursery staff and giving her the care she needs.

She is growing up in the nursery and loving it every time she is in. She is very happy and always smiling at the nursery staff in the mornings. I'm happy at her start into nursery life here at Starfish.

I have worked in education for many years now, in a day nursery for 8 years and now at a training provider and dealt with Ofsted many times (sometimes they get it wrong as this is just a snap shot) and this report does not give the outlook of Starfish on day to day life within the nursery and I am confident that the next inspection they will hopefully see this -with all the work you are putting into the nursery I'm sure they will.

Thanks for all your hard work

My son Rupert has been attending Starfish for 2 years, he has received and continues to receive excellent care. In regards to the last Ofsted report the staff within the nursery have worked very hard and the improvements are clear to see. As a parent I feel content in leaving Rupert in the care of the 'Jellyfish' staff, he is well looked after and his needs let, his latest report from his key worker shows this.

I would like to say thank you to Lisa and her team who have made a massive improvement to the nursery and to all the 'Jellyfish' staff who are caring, competent and an asset to the nursery. Thank you

My little girl couldn't be happier or settled any better than at Starfish! Activities are varied and the facilities are amazing. So lovely to know she has found a place she can be so happy at when I am at work

My daughter loves going to nursery. Everyone's lovely and I've never had any problems! I'll be sad my little one leaves! Their facilities are fabulous, an whole indoor soft play that every and any child can use daily is amazing! Highly recommended

My daughter has been going here for three months now, once a week. From the first time we went there we knew this was the nursery for her after seeing other nurseries and being let down by childminders! The practitioners and all the staff couldn't be more attentive, I get a full handover as she's only little (9 months when she started) verbally and written. (And with tapestry too most weeks). Their facilities are great and even have a soft play pirate ship! I couldn't recommended this nursery enough as a first time mum having to go back to work still with a young baby. She even gets excited when we turn up! Most importantly they listen and work around what she needs/likes.

Just want to say thank you again to everyone at starfish. Hollie has been there for 4 years. Starting in the goldfish room at 10 months old with the wonderful Laura as her keyworker. Hollie has loved every minute being being there through each room and leaving today in jellyfish. She was so sad to be leaving, she loves it there so much and I'm so sad for her to be leaving behind such a big part of her life. All the best to everyone. Will be back in 10 months to start a new chapter at starfish with Logan. Lots of love Charlotte and Hollie. Xxxxxxxx
