Strom Architects Description

Founded in 2010, Ström Architects is an award-winning, high-end contemporary architecture practice specialising in one-off private houses for international clients. Our approach to architecture is not superficial or purely for effect. As a practice, we seek foundation in the basics of human life (the client) and nature (the site / environment). This inspires our designs and how we create spaces. Through a continuous and careful dialogue with structure, details, material and order, we seek a holistic and tectonic approach in realising the architectural ideas.

I’ve always been intrigued by designing small but clever spaces, but we are always asked to maximise build area as that reflects value. Designing small reflects a different value. Less resources used, less build cost and of course less running cost. Want to be sustainable? The meaning of value is changing. Build small.

The lay house consists of two volumes separated by a void where the staircase is placed. The brick walls are taken from outside to inside to enhance the feeling of the two volumes.
