Poppy's Community Kitchen is now open for business come on in and try us out. Open Tuesdays - Sundays (Tuesdays - Thursdays and Saturdays 10am - 4pm) (Fridays 10am - 7.30pm), (Sundays 12 - 3pm).

Roy Aldis says thank you very much to all at the centre who signed his Birthday card on his 70th Birthday, who is currently celebrating on holiday.

All Round Weightlifting Competition report
Mark Rattenberry travelled to Pontardawe in South Wales and took part in the I.A.W.A. (UK) (International All-Round Weightlifting Association), Welsh Open Championships.
Next up was the One Handed Dumbbell Clean & Jerk (RH) where 15kgs set another World record. The last discipline was the Trap Bar Deadlift and 167.5kgs on his fourth attempt broke the existing World record by 12.5kgs. He finished the competition with a 272.5kgs total ...and first in his category.
There were three disciplines to tackle, starting with the Front Squat, in which he set a new Masters World record of 92.5kgs at 55+ age class and in the 65kgs bodyweight category.
Next up was the One Handed Dumbell Clean & Jerk (RH) where 15kgs set another World record. The last discipline was the Trap Bar Deadlift and 167.5kgs on his fourth attempt broke the existing World record by 12.5kgs. He finished the competition with a 272.5kgs total and first in his category.
After the competition, Mark was allowed to have a go at breaking the Two Hand Straddle Deadlift World record. This, he duly did by some distance with a lift of 155kgs.

Charity Bingo night for Tommys (Saturday 18th August) A big thank you to everyone that attended the bingo on Saturday. 84 people in total played bingo which was amazing.
An incredible £1060 was raised with an additional £61 donated from people who couldn't attend which makes it a grand total of £1121! All for Tommy's Charity (Funding research, saving babies lives).

UPDATE# event has been cancelled! Sunday 26th August 2018 Sunningmead Community Diversity Day has now been cancelled for this year but we will be doing one next year celebrating our 20th anniversary.

Andy's Bistro has unfortunately closed at the centre. We thank Andy for the time he spent at Sunningmead and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Located at Sunningmead Community Centre for over 10 years, expert instruction and national level coaching is provided by Mark Rattenberry, a regular competitor and ex-British Power-lifting and All Round Weightlifting champion with numerous British and World records.
We are an all-inclusive club and wish to encourage people of all abilities, from 13 years of age.
Also, we are keen to see people take up the exciting and rewarding sport of “drug free” power-lifting, where participation has increased steadily in recent years.
