Well we booked at 11.30am yesterday for thirteen people. Managed to get a booking for 3pm. Had to wait a while. Have to say that the food was lovely. Waitresses run off their feet but very polite and helpful. We would always give it five stars. The chef and his staff did a Grand job (as always). We eat there fairly often and it's generally very good.

User

We turned up on Mother's Day without a booking and they managed to squeeze us in. They were so nice on what was an extremely busy afternoon, the food was to die for and reasonably priced. If your thinking of going for a meal I would highly recommend this place. We will 100% be returning in the very near future!!

User

Valentines night with no booking, we managed to get a table just as busy. Very good service from our waitress along with a quality 3 course meal which had very good choice options. Well worth the £50 per couple set price.

User

Second time in has many weeks I've attended a birthday gathering here. They go out of there way to make special birthdays special. Last night the meal was as fabulous as ever. Great menu and beautifully cooked food. Not rushed and made to feel welcome and special. Will definitely be back.

User

Had a lovely meal at The Bold Forester today! Beautiful hot sunny day so sat in the pub garden. Children loved the play area & bouncy castle. And a really nice touch by the staff handing out ice lollies to all the children on this scorcher of a day! Will definitely be back again soon!

User

A really nice pub,the ales we sampled were very well kept.Didn't eat but it was Sunday afternoon & the food we observed being eaten looked pretty good.

User

Went with a group of friends for our annual Xmas Christmas get together. We were very lucky to have a little room off main restaurant to ourselves. The food was obviously pre ordered and arrived promptly and the waiting staff were efficient, friendly and attentive. We were not hurried at all and the food was lovely. Some of us only get to see each other once a year so it was lovely to be able to sit and chat and be able to hear ourselves speak

User

Went here on our wedding anniversary. Good steaks, desserts and service. Prices seem be a bit higher than elsewhere, but we left happy which is a lot more then I can say of visits we've taken to other establishments in the area.

User

Took some friends here today who had never been to the pub / restaurant and they were really impressed. I've not eaten at lunchtime here only of an evening with a couple of friends. I had fishcakes with chips and salad, two of the meals were salads (one chicken & bacon & one duck), other meal was Chicken Kiev with Jacket Spud and salad. For the price we paid for the meals / drinks etc you could not find fault, excellent value for money. Only reason I have given it 4 stars is that we had to wait about 1/2 hour for food BUT that is def not a complaint, we were told at the point of ordering that due to a busy period, there would be a slight delay and meals should be out in about 1/2 hour which they were. Friendly staff, nice Manager, very welcoming. Would def recommend and of course we'll be back!

User

Looks great from the outside - beautiful hanging baskets. Ate in the beer garden - clean and well kept children’s play area and bouncy castle. Quick service and tasty food.

User

I went with my hubby yesterday for light lunch, we both had very yummy Crayfish and Avocado sandwich with chips and salad, was delicious good size helping great value for money. We sat in the garden as the weather was glorious, the children there were having a lovely time on the bouncy castle, nice for families.

They were very busy and the staff seemed stretched, having said that we didn't wait long for our food.

We will be back! And our daughter lives a few minutes walk away which is a bonus 😃

User

Booked in on Saturday 1 July. Unfortunately had to choose from a menu that was different from the one the Bold Forester advertised on-line the new menu was ok but disappointed as the menu advertised on-line was what drew us to this restaurant in the first place.

User

Food was really good but service poor.

Bill calculated wrong but corrected when queried.

Quiet for a Saturday night !!!

It doesn’t cost anything to smile staff looked miserable when serving.

User

Very, very disappointed. I can remember coming when the service was good, and the food was excellent. We arrived on Saturday and were shown to our table which was so close to the next one. The backs of the chairs were touching, making it impossible to move. The food was a real let down, over cooked, dry chicken and cold chips. To top it all, the waitress asked if we wanted the dessert menu after having finished our starter. A real shambles at £93 for 3 adults and 1 child. NOT the Bold Forester we used to know. Will not be returning.

User

This used to be a place to rave about but after our visit today we won’t be hurrying to go back. We waited over an hour for food, wasn’t that busy at all to be waiting all that time. My partner had a rack of ribs which were dry. 3 of us had roasts which were ok, although tasted like the whole pepper pot was dropped in the suede. A very disappointing visit I have to say.

User

Table booked for 7.30pm for 8 people. Starters arrived 8.45pm, ribs very burnt & no sauce (sent back). Main arrived the chicken was dry, steak 1/2 burnt & chill order with side plate of fries came out with fries on plate without the rice or tortilla chips.... Hence went else where for pudding. Will not be returning!

User

Roast was lovely, however the wait for our meals was unreal & the waitresses need to smile ☺ such miserable looks of their faces 😞 perhaps that's because the manager promised to give one of them a slap (overheard in the garden) for coming back from the garden empty handed, no dirty glasses or plates in hand

User

First time in a long myself and my family went to the pub to have a Sunday lunch . Food was good but sad to say it staff and dinning experiences was very poor not just our table but watched as others left due to poor customer service as we waited 20 mins to even know if we had to go to bar to order our food after being seated then we had to go and find the staff to ask for a menu and then had to find staff again to see if they where going to take our order and we waited very patiently. The whole experience seemed like the staff were having a bad day and it’s a shame that it seemed to have reflected on the service.

User

Very disappointed. Arrived at lunch time and was please to see a bouncy castle in the garden and lovely play equipment for my little girl who is 7. The sun was lovely in the garden and I was surprised that the place wasn't packed out. My husband ordered our food at the bar, which took a little while to come out, but not too bad. I ordered fish cakes, but when the waitress brought my meal over I could see by just looking at it, I was not going to be able to eat it. The fish cakes were over fried and greasy (wish I had taken a photo). I opened one up and there was little substance in it. I am not one to return my food if I can help it but this was just gross. I took my food into the restaurant, where one of the waitress staff, apologised and quickly dealt with my complaint. She offered me an alternative meal which I just asked for chips as I didn't think they could get that wrong. She refunded my meal which was ok, but the chips were not quite done in the middle and the oil tasted like it should have been changed. I have not been back here for a couple of years as we had a similar experience the last time, but thought we would try it again. Wish I hadn't bothered. Oh and in case you were wondering, my daughters fish fingers and chips and my husbands baguette were not much better, although edible unlike mine. I only hope that by posting this comment the owners will be able to turn this place around. Perhaps a new chef? Good luck, but we wont be back. :(
