A beautiful day in Bude which means a lovely view from Cafe Limelight out on the River Neet and the sea beyond - one of the best in Bude! The geese are back too so why not watch their comings and goings. Bude #visitbude #budeandbeyond #wearebude #bigupbude #budepastandpresent #museumsincornwall

These two Cornish artists, whose journeys into painting are happy and dedicated, also have two ways of seeing the world. Teresa’s landscape/seascapes are observed first hand. Back in the studio, she turns her back on her sketchbook, her absorption with the places she walks then resulting into imaginative responses to the very “stuff" of paint. Jacqui’s more mystical, delicate work translates from the soul into exquisite placement of shapes and colour, which bring pleasure and joy. In the exhibition display, the paintings are juxtaposed: each complementing the other and testifying to the miracle of that which is art.

A new exhibition has started in The Castle Studio which is full of colour and energy. These abstract creations will be on display until Thursday 20th September and are already getting a lot of interest. A fantastic exhibition opens at The Castle tomorrow by local artist Bridget Winterbourne entitled 'The Complete Picture'. Bridget uses a wonderful array of colours which bring her paintings of the great outdoors to life. Her art explores the beauty of secret and secluded places throughout the seasons. A must for any art lover! Bude #visitbude #budeandbeyond #wearebude #bigupbude #budepastandpresent #museumsincornwall

Something for the kids this Saturday! Come and build a civil war lego sculpture and enter the show class competition on Sunday to win a trophy. Lego will be provided but must be returned after judging and parental supervision is a must. Get building between 11am and 2pm in The Heritage Centre at The Castle. Let the battle commence! The Sealed Knot will be performing a re-enactment of the Battle of Stratton on Summerleaze Downs, behind Sainsburys. From their Living History Camp on The Castle Lawn, the Regiments will muster at 11am and march to the downs. Once the battle is over, they will then march back and return to The Castle camp. 1pm – 4pm on Saturday & 11am – 4pm on Sunday, the living history camp in The Castle grounds, will allow the public to find out more about the weapons used for battle and also dress up in period costume. There will also be a ‘pay parade’ during the day, with audience participation encouraged! Expect loud bangs - dog owners be mindful of this area during the battle. We had our wedding ceremony here earlier this month and it was just perfect! We've always loved the Castle and its setting, and felt it was where we wanted to get married. Planning it with Nicky was so stress free and easy, and the day was so relaxing. We were lucky to have the bonus of a photography exhibition and felt exhibition which raised some laughs. We even took our dogs along for photographs outside! Thank you for making our wedding day special. We will be back for coffee soon.

User

We had our wedding ceremony held here on the 7th April 2017. The first gay wedding. What an amazing place. Great views and surroundings. The staff were fantastic. Nicky the coordinator so brilliant from planning to rehearsal. Right down to timings of music. Nothing was to much trouble. Thank you all for such a perfect and memorable day. Bonus the sun shone all day too. Totally recommend this venue. Great art exhibition and lovely little cafe to boot. Hope to pop down and visit again soon. Love and best wishes for future events. Visited for the first time yesterday, ended up staying for lunch in the conservatory, which has fantastic views. Thoroughly enjoyed the exhibitions that were on. Lovely to find somewhere that's easily accessible with a wheelchair, and reasonably priced with uncomplicated food. Will definitely visit again when I'm in the area :)

User

This is an important venue in Bude. There is so much to attract visitors. An excellent cafe, which is dog friendly with an outside area overlooking Summerleaze Beach. The museum has important documents, pictures artifacts which go back to the 15th, 16th, 17th centuries. Sir Goldsworthy Gurney has a large part to play. The shop has the necessary souvenirs to interest one.

This is a great place to visit.

Parkham WI visited on Friday 30 June 2017 and had a really fabulous time! We were made to feel so welcome by Mark and everyone there. The museum has such a variety of really interesting exhibits and the lunch we had was great! Cream tea on National Cream Tea Day too! And lots of nice things to buy in the gift shop...! Would definitely recommend it and we will be back again! Thank you!

Having family and friends to stay locally is a good opportunity to make a return visit to The Castle - and my guest were impressed. It gets better with each visit; many thanks to all those responsible for the displays, it's appreciated.

Amazing place with very in-depth history of the Man who built it and his life of invention. A must see in Bude, cream tea was amazing with friendly staff.

A group of us had high tea yesterday to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was perfect. Freshly made sandwiches and really naughty cakes. We all loved it. It's a good price too as well S great service. The best view too. Thank you

User

We loved being able to see out in the conservatory as the view is amazing. The food and drink we had was lovely. It would be nice to have some more hot food like bacon sandwiches. Toasted sandwiches. Otherwise superb.

User

Good, simple food, excellent coffee, local artifacts and history well presented.

The sign outside said the conservatory and balcony of the cafe are dog friendly. We also double checked with the gentleman who worked there (very kind man with a ponytail), he said led us upstairs and directed us to walk straight through the cafe and to either go into the conservatory or balcony with our little dachshund. When we entered , however and went to order a very rude member of staff from behind the cafe till who had a face as sour as a lemon looked at us with utter distain and said no dogs allowed. So we explained what the other man had just told us. She continued to go on at us. We then left my father to order and went straight to the conservatory (literally 6ft away) and another waitress told us no dogs. So I again explained. We got into the conservatory and then were met with filthy looks from the customers. Needless to say we left without ordering whilst the staff glared at us. Really disgusting way to treat customers.
