If you're looking for some inspiring craft ideas Rachel has lots of great videos on her page. This mosaic bunny using paper is ideal - use old magazines or newspapers, wrapping paper or even packaging. It's fun, creative, easy and the result is gorgeous 🌈
Check out Rachel's Facebook page for more inspiring craft ideas and her mosaic kits can still be bought online too. Rachel's mosaic bunny was the first on Puzzlewood's virtual Easter trail which is still running every day and more details can be seen on their page with all the outlines available to download. 🐰

Stay safe, stay home, do some yoga... breathe, stretch, take some time for yourself now or this weekend and if you've never done yoga before or you're out of practice we hope this video by Hayley from Forest Retreats helps.
Forest Retreats offer day and weekend yoga and wellbeing retreats in an idyllic Wye Valley location. Since lockdown they've gone online offering virtual yoga classes using a simple bit of technology meaning you can be anywhere in the world and still take p...art in their brilliant classes.
They've also put this video together especially for us. It's a 20 minute yoga class with the first five minutes about relaxation, breathing and gentle stretching, ideal for releasing tension in the neck and shoulders, then some gentle movement to get the whole body stretched, the blood flowing and the mind calm. We hope you enjoy it.
#StaySafeStayHome and have a great Easter weekend all 👋

Listen to the Prince of Wales reading William Wordsworth's wonderful Wye Valley inspired poem 'Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey' including the famous lines: 'Once again Do I behold these steep and lofty cliffs, That on a wild secluded scene impress Thoughts of more deep seclusion...'
... Today marks 250 years since the birth of the poet and to celebrate, the Prince of Wales has recorded this reading for BBC Radio 4’s Today programme. Listen to the whole thing at: https://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/prince-w ales-recites-tinte…
Describing why he chose to read this poem in particular, HRH said, “I chose this poem by Wordsworth, because funnily enough, I know that rather wonderful area around Tintern Abbey, up The Wye Valley. I can understand so well the way in which, I suppose for Wordsworth and as for a lot of other people, the power of the landscape to move us, is something rather profound. I found myself struggling, for instance, to paint a watercolour of a landscape. But, in a strange way, when you sit and observe it, very carefully, and you observe the movement of the clouds, the light and everything else on the landscape, the extraordinary thing is that you almost feel the landscape, you almost feel its heart and soul, as it were.
“To me, Wordsworth captures so well the power of the landscape to move us in a profound and extraordinary way. That is why, of course, landscapes - why we need to preserve them and we need to understand that man working in harmony with nature is absolutely crucial.
“So, this poem, I found ends in this extraordinarily moving and special way, so it’s one of my favourites.”
We hope we get to behold those views ourselves once again ❤️

Flatbreads are so easy and so versatile - great for getting the kids involved and really hard to get wrong (honest!). Here's Yvette from Harts Barn Cookery School teaching us a simple flatbread recipe using some local nettles for a bit of added flavour, don't they look delicious ❤️🌿🥙 PS when picking nettles please use gloves, only take the leaves and remove the stalks and steep your nettles in boiled water for 10 minutes before chopping to remove the sting!

A simple way we can all support our local businesses during this time of uncertainty is to buy a gift voucher. They of course also make great gifts so if you need a present for someone during this period this is an ideal option: http://www.wyedeantourism.co.uk/gift-guid e
Maybe you'd like to look forward to an afternoon tea when this is over, or perhaps a cookery class is more your thing. Take to the water with canoeing or kayaking vouchers, or into the trees with high ropes f...un. There are loads of experience days and adventure activities from birds of prey handling to mountain biking. Or there are treats such as wine tasting, steam train trips or floatation.
We've got great gifts for everyone and we've rounded them all up into the definitive online gift guide for businesses in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
Pay it forwards and look forward to being able to treat yourself or a loved one after this is all over...

We will never get bored of this view!
It will still be here. Just visit later. #StayAtHome
Who else is really appreciating the things we normally take for granted which we can't do right now? Days out, long walks, beer gardens, meet ups and Sunday roasts...
... Maybe this will make us all that little bit more appreciative. Not a bad thing.
We should point out that this was taken last week before the lockdown. Thanks A.Noble Photography for getting up so early again.

Welcome to the world 😃 these adorable chicks have just been born at the ICBP International Centre for Birds of Prey as part of their conservation projects.
They are the first chicks of 2020 and normally visitors would be able to see them at the centre but for the moment seeing them on video will have to do! We wonder what they will call them?
These are lugger falcon chicks. In the wild, luggers are found on the Indian subcontinent and are classified as 'near threatened' and n...umbers are decreasing. This is partly because lugger falcons are often captured to aid the trapping of saker falcons which are endangered and sell for hefty sums on the black market.
An important reminder that life goes on and there are many people out there doing amazing things to help nature thrive. 🙏
Find out more about the centre at: http://www.wyedeantourism.co.uk/…/i-347 6-International_Cent… they are a registered charity and donations are accepted on their website. We hope we'll be able to see them open to the public again soon.

If you can't come to nature, here's nature coming to you... it's officially the first day of spring today and while we're not celebrating it in quite the way we'd hoped - with festivals and days out, campsites full of families and beer gardens ready for socialising - nature doesn't know any different and is just happily and beautifully doing its thing...
Stay safe and if it's appropriate for you to do so, spend some time outdoors every now and then, a walk in nature with it looking so beautiful right now will do us all the world of good.

We all need a change of scene sometimes... our accommodation providers are doing what they can to provide a safe environment for those wanting a break away from everyday stresses.
Our rural setting means that we have lots of very secluded places to stay, from cottages in hidden valleys to peaceful treehouses, log cabins surrounded by woodland, shepherd's huts, yurts and tipis in lovely countryside settings.
Many are offering self check-in, as you've seen there are catering op...tions available including takeaways and deliveries, picnics in a box and even afternoon teas for collection. Walking and enjoying the outdoors is very much recommended for both our physical and mental health at the moment and we have plenty of space for everyone to enjoy at a very safe distance.
Even if you're local you may still want to get away but spend less time travelling so why not consider supporting your local tourism businesses and rediscover this beautiful area from a different perspective? There is so much to see and do on your doorstep still and nature is all around us here in our ancient forest and wild river valley.
We've listed just a few of our places to stay with availability this spring including Easter here: http://www.wyedeantourism.co.uk/itins/70< br> See More

You might not want to eat out at the moment but that doesn't mean going without delicious pub grub, hampers, fresh produce or even beer! Our brilliant local food and drink businesses have come up with a fantastic new plan to keep people fed with home deliveries and takeaways and we've put together a list: http://www.wyedeantourism.co.uk/deliverie s-and-takeaways
With unknown times ahead plus many people self-isolating, businesses which can stay open are doing what they can to ...keep doing what they do best. The Farmer's Boy Inn is delivering delicious pies, Hillside Brewery has a beer bus keeping you topped up, Forest Deli can supply you with a wide range of local produce and hampers, The Red Hart Inn has afternoon tea gift boxes perfect for Mother's Day, Greenway farm cafe is offering a local delivery service as is Sixteen Community Cafe. There's a drive through dinner service at The Old Court Hotel, high tea delivery from The Angel Hotel & Oak Room Restaurant and deliveries from Truffles Delicatessen too.
Also don't forget that many of our businesses provide gift vouchers, including digitally, so please consider paying it forward and purchasing a voucher to use when this is all over. They will really really appreciate it 🙏

Well, nature is still open, the outdoors is a great place to be and you will still find many things to see and do here in the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.
We are committed to responsible tourism and want to do everything in our power to ensure the health and safety of all visitors. After yesterday's coronavirus announcement by the government advising against non essential travel and to avoid social gatherings we have put together the following statement: http://www.wyedeant...ourism.co.uk/Corona virus
Please follow official advice and we only hope that the forecasted 12 week lockdown will not continue further. Thank you as always for your support and we hope we can continue to spread a little positivity in these difficult times.
Unfortunately for us after the floods and a February wash out spring has most definitely sprung and the whole area is looking blooming marvellous right now!
Thanks to Forest and Wye Valley Camping Site for the video.

The Forest is still here, the rivers remain, there are lambs in the fields and daffodils are in bloom. The blossom is out and the magnolias won't be long and there are buds on all the trees. Come April there will be bluebells... amongst the chaos, nature is still here.
We will post an update tomorrow with information for our visitors about coronavirus. We have all been affected by recent news and our priority is of course everyone's health. Stay safe and please follow the advice provided.
