Wowzers! I stayed at the hotel this weekend and from the moment I booked my room to the time I checked out. The service was amazing. Helpful and friendly staff and the room was clean and perfect. Breakfast was enjoyable. I would highly recommend.

What a lovely pub/restaurant. We were on a drive an decided to stop for a drink but ended up having the most delicious lunch. Staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. The pub is very well decorated it looks cared for. Toilets were spotless. This is definitely somewhere I would take friends and family to.

We've done breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday lunch at The George & Dragon and it never fails to disappoint! Great atmosphere, helpful and knowledgeable staff and absolutely delicious food. So lucky to have such a great place so close to home.

We stayed here in September for a night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a 3 course meal, wine and drinks and stayed in a beautiful guest room called Pemberley. When we arrived we were given a friendly welcome and invited to see our room and set our things down. We thought we'd have to book a specific time for dinner but were put at ease and welcomed to come downstairs whenever we were ready - it felt like staying at a friend's. So comfortable and welcoming. The room was beautiful - very spacious and well decorated. Not overly fussy, which I loved. The room and bathroom were immaculate - I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this is definitely the cleanest. Very smart and modern with a cosy country feel that you would expect from a high quality village inn. As a front facing room on a reasonably busy road, I did worry that it would be noisy, however the sound proofing is such that we couldn't even hear the traffic - clearly every effort had been made in the design and planning of the rooms to consider all comforts!



We went downstairs and were shown to our table. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and restaurant area with fire lit and locals and visitors chatting away over drinks. We fancied a drink and were expertly guided through an impressive range of gins - 17 I think! We put our trust in our waiter and he brought us a couple of beautiful G&Ts which went down a treat. We enjoyed reading the menu - not a massive choice, which I often find overwhelming, but an excellent selection of delicious dishes made with local produce. Again we sought advice and suggestions from our waitress. My husband is dairy intolerant and this couldn't have been less of a problem for the staff and chef, we felt reassured and informed and the kitchen were able to some lovely suggestions for alternatives and changes to suit his diet. The food was exceptional from start to finish and the warm, friendly service was fantastic. As parents of a 15 month old, we rarely get to enjoy time together, and the atmosphere and feel of the place meant that we enjoyed a long and luxurious 3-hour dinner full of chatting, good food and delicious wine. We never felt rushed or pressured to make choices and we could have stayed there forever chatting and enjoying the ambience. Breakfast in the morning was wholesome and plentiful. Again service was excellent and staff couldn't have done more to make our stay more enjoyable.



Such a fantastic place, and an amazing treat to have it just up the road. We would whole-heartedly recommended the George and Dragon as a destination pub for all visitors from far and wide. A must-visit if you are even vaguely in the area - you're guaranteed a wonderful time.

Thank you....it was so much more than we expected! Booked one night with my sister as we were visiting Thruxton BTCC the next day. We were greeted on arrival and made to feel very welcomed. Room was beautiful with everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel! We enjoyed a lovely 2 course dinner at our leisure and the breakfast was most satisfying. We have planned to come back next year...but we want 2 nights to really make the most of the beautiful location and excellent service.

Thank you so much to all of the staff for a brilliant hen/birthday lunch yesterday, the girls (& CP) enjoyed themselves immensely...We are all telling everyone to come and sample your menu and we're all waiting for one of the girls to make the cheesecake from the recipe you gave out...can't wait to come back again x

Second visit this year both as a result of walking the Test Way. We love this pub. Super friendly both to humans and muddy dogs. Great food and lovely ambience. Not a local for us which is a shame as we would definitely go back.

Out experience:

We were 4 adults, 2 three year olds and 1 baby. And they could not have made it easier for us.



First the kids menu was brilliant and it turned into colouring which is a treat as it means the they are entertained. Fresh, healthy food that kids would like but that is still healthy, we ordered homemade chicken dippers and fresh veg and the two three year olds had clean plates at the end.





For us adults: We ordered Hake, Chicken and Burgers and all were delicious. I personally had the burger � and it was awesome but also the fries had something special about them too.



We can not wait to come back and either stay at the hotel as they have babysitters or stay with friends nearby but the one that can be sure is that we will be coming back. (And next time I will look at the wine � list)

Last night I took my girlfriend out for dinner here for our 3 year anniversary and I couldn't have picked a better place. The food and drink was fantastic and staff all so friendly. We're already planning to spend our next date night out there again. Thank you for a great night �

I've eaten at many places in and around Andover. Both my fiance and I feel that the experience at eating at the George and Dragon is simply the best.



The staff are what you would expect from a high quality restaurant, an attritibute sorely missed from the George and Dragons competitors. If I were in charge of this pub I would be proud of my team. Flexible and ready to adapt to suit needs that don't appear on menus.



The food itself is exceptional. Tonight we dined at the Yew Tree and were excited to try something different. Personally I was disgusted by the service at the Yew Tree and furthermore the food there is unquestionably inferior to the George and Dragon.



There is no comparison to a night out in Andover to this pub. You simply cannot be disappointed.

I called in today by chance with my mother in law on our way back from Andover.

I'm so glad we did.

The service was fantastic, all the staff we met were polite and helpful. We had a steak sandwich and a steak baguette both of which were excellent.

Having lived in the village for a long time before moving to Cornwall it was a pleasure to return for a visit to family and have a meal in the refurbished George and Dragon now under new ownership. The menu is varied and nothing is to much trouble for the very friendly staff. If you haven't visited yet do your self a favour and book a table, you will not be disappointed.

Came for a meal on Valentine’s Day and had been looking forward to it since I booked the table. The menu has changed since the last time I ate here so was excited to see what new dishes there were available. Had all three courses and the flavours were amazing on each one. Very well cooked and thoroughly enjoyed them. The staff were exceptional, all very friendly and service was very quick which was great considering how busy it was in there. Will definitely be back to try more dishes on the menu now. Thank you.

The staff, environment and food were really lovely worth a visit only negative took a long time to get food but it was a small issue and wouldn’t stop be revisiting this lovely place
