About The Grapes Alehouse & Kitchen

The Grapes Alehouse & Kitchen, Falmouth. Family owned and family friendly, we focus on good quality homemade food, local real ales and a great atmosphere.

The Grapes Alehouse & Kitchen Description

One of Falmouth's oldest pubs - The Grapes was founded in the 1700's and, situated on Fish Strand Quay, has traditionally been the destination of choice for the seafarers, merchants and Navy-men whose ships are docked in Falmouth's stunning harbour which this pub overlooks. The beautiful panoramic view from the back of the pub is a perfect location to enjoy a great drink from the pub's very extensive range; with over 80 spirits and liqueurs across the back bar and a great range of lagers and local real ales and ciders - there is something for everyone.
The front of the pub faces on to Falmouth's busy high street, and located right in the centre of town - The Grapes is a great place to drop by during the day - esspresso coffees and a range of teas are available as well as a full brunch, lunch and afternoon food service. Main meals are also available here at lunch and dinner time; all our food is locally sourced and home made by our kitchen team which is headed up by our highly experienced Chef, Keith Webb.

So come down to The Grapes! All are welcome - we're family friendly and we accept well behaved dogs too. See you soon. . . .

Visited The Grapes this evening, good view, good music, great service and the food, pork roast and bean chilli delicious!! Can't recommend enough.

User

Just had pulled pork burger, with awesome chips. Really delicious flavored burger and rustic chips also very tasty. Cappuccino also great, will pop back in here again. Throughly recommend that pub, big thumbs up...

User

I popped in yesterday lunchtime after walking around looking for a dog friendly place to grab a pint and something to eat as I had my dog with me, food was really nice and the pints were cold, good atmosphere and some good music playing over the speakers. I even got given afew treats and a bowl of cold water for my dog. Great service, great place, I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again!

User

Had a really tasty Sunday roast with fresh vegetables and it was nice a hot.

User

Had a lovely lunch at Grapes yesterday. The staff service was amazing, so happy and friendly. The food was very nice and a great setting. Thank you will definitely be back.

User

Fantastic place to bring the grandchildren for a big family meal. Lovely staff, healthy homemade options on the "kids meal deal" which is really appreciated (not a chicken nugget in sight!) as well as a great choice of meals for the adults. Fab drinks (husband was very impressed with the ales whilst I thought the sauvignon was very tasty) and a great view too. All in all a good afternoon spent, thank you!

User

Beautiful looking pub from the outside, absolutely over flowing with flowers, they have clearly gone to great effort.

The pub inside is recently done up but still in keeping with the age of the place with wooden beams and lots of original features. View over the harbour is stunning and really makes the place!

We tried to get everything as 'cornish' as possible and weren't disappointed, local ale, local cider, fresh Cornish fish and hand cut chips (Cornish potatoes we were told!) a real winner, everything delicious and the staff very friendly. Check it out!

User

Always love the Grapes for a pit stop while out shopping in Falmouth for a drink and small meal - which are very good. And very reasonably priced for the daytime small bites.

We find the staff friendly and the bonus is we can take our dog to the non carpeted bar area. We have a rescue dog that wont stay at home without howling and same if we left him, on a cool day, in the car. So while we have two more, this dog goes everywhere with us.

So ideal.

For what we use it for.

I am told for those younger it can get lively at night and can be fun. But not too much as to put off older visitors and locals. But so we are told as rarely go out at night now.

One of the pubs we use most in Falmouth and for many years.

We live about 5 miles away.

User

Very friendly welcome and good atmosphere. Had jacket potato with chilli, all very good, quick and good value. Lively mulled wine too.

User

Really lovely food with a good choice of ciders - great spot overlooking the harbour, perfect place to wait for the ferry back to St Mawes.

User

Even though the sign said 45min wait for food which is to be expected on a Sunday, our dinners arrived in 15mins. The roasts both the beef and the chicken were delicious and the fresh vegetables perfectly cooked. Service was very good.

User

Our 2nd visit and food not much better. Steak and onion baguette came served with mushrooms included as a surprise from the chef!, so had to be sent back, steak chewy, and not hot... cheesy chips ok - but tables were left dirty for quite a while and it wasn’t even busy. Won’t be back.

User

We came for a Sunday dinner, meal was awful something you could get from a frozen meal, the service was poor we asked for more gravy as the chicken was dry and was told we could not as how it comes is how you have to have it. Would not recommend to anyone coming to the area, as a group of 6 and spending over £100 we did expect better service.

User

Rude staff, no customer service. Had food here twice and both time is was nothing special. No beer garden and dirty toilets. Beers from the fridge was warm too, not impressed.

User

rude staff, terrible customer service, avoid like the plague.

WE WAS GROSSLY OVERCHARGED!!!

We went to the Grapes last night out with a group of 11 of us. It was our friend Andy's turn to buy a round of drinks. Up to this stage our drinks round was averaging £33 to £36 a round. In the Grapes Andy's round came to £47.50. Andy paid but queried the cost and asked for an itemised receipt, because if this the bouncer thought we may be causing trouble and was on the verge of asking us to leave. A friend explained they we're just quibbling the cost.

When the staff actually checked the bill he explained that Andy was overcharged £13.50. He blamed the fault on the til crashing.

NOW in my experience a faulty til will either show an 'ERROR' sign or a 'ZERO' sign, but it won't make a bill changed from £33 to £47.50.

So I what I want know is how many unsuspecting souls who go into Grapes of a Saturday night have the til go faulty on them. At £13.50 overcharge that's a very profitable evening for the Grapes.

Most people (maybe a bit tipsy) are too embarrassed to question the price, unfortunately for the Grapes Andy wasn't.

My one star rating was not because I hated it, it's because we definitely wasn't impressed. Will not be going back again in a hurry. AND we're all local people.

User

Terrible Sunday dinner, veg felt like it just got pulled out the grown very hard and chewy, the coke was off and the bar staff said mate I've got no idea what to do, I've been here 5 years and don't no how to change the syrup, overall the place looks nice but very poor food and communication
