The Little Fabric Shop . . . . I love making and to open my own fabric shop is like a dream come true. I started sewing when I was 14 years old and have always enjoyed making crafty things. When I left school I started work at a clothing factory making men’s trousers and jackets. I found it pretty boring to be honest but loved using all the different machines. That’s when I started making my clothes and soft furnishings. I stayed there for 12 years then went on to do other things. 10 years ago I met my partner Warren and after a while I started working for him at his tile shop. Some days could be quiet, so that’s when I started sewing again. I made hundreds of baby items, cushions, dresses for our granddaughters and personalised gifts. I loved it! Unfortunately my partner became ill and he had to give the tile shop up. That’s how we managed to start up The Little Fabric Shop! We opened on 2nd April 2012 with little stock but filled the shop up with the bits I had made to make it look full. I also put my fabric stash out to sell. We have been open over 3 years now and the shop is full of beautiful fabrics and haberdashery, we also have the website that Warren works on. I love being here and when a delivery arrives it’s like Christmas. I get very excited! lol One of the nice things about being here is meeting all the lovely customers and seeing and hearing about their projects. Some people amaze me with the things they make. The shop is doing very well and we hope to be here for many more years. Thank you very much to everyone that supports us!
