Wonderful place where animals roam free, brilliant places to walk and picturesque villages to explore!
Visited for lunch yesterday with family, food was beautiful and the service was second to none. My children really enjoyed the garden in the lovely weather highly recommend a visit!
This is a amazing pub with an awesome family running it with fantastic staff I would recommend this place to anyone
The New Forest Fest was a blast! Really friendly people and staff. Thanks for having us! Wonderful venue!
Please have us back again soon
Lovely friendly atmosphere ,fab food and service from Paul and his great team. It’s great to have a pub to walk to that loves dogs too.
Just had a great lunch stop with the family. The heat today was ridiculous but the outside seating was well placed to provide good shade from the trees as well umbrellas at tables on the patio.
The staff in that heat could be forgiven for being a bit grumpy but despite what they must have felt they were all calm under pressure and with a smile - good effort.
A New Forest gem not to be missed by families with children of all ages.
Excellent day at The New Forest yesterday, Had a fabulous Afternoon Tea,with great food and brilliant service on a beautiful sunny day
A beautiful place to visit. Wild horses and cows roaming around freely. Beautiful surroundings. Loads of pretty walks with quaint pubs and lovely little shops. So much to do and so much history there. It's a must for anyone who loves the countryside.
The Hampshire Walking group called in for drinks on Sunday afternoon after an excellent twelve mile walk through the forest ...
Had lovely late Sunday lunch in the bar . Beautiful pork belly roast followed by the most delish chocolate brownie desert..which is not what I would normally choose. Accompanied by a really nice Australian shiraz. A little bit expensive even for a nice dinner but would go back again because the service was very good too.
Service & food in the pub are excellent and get 5 stars, but toilets, with the seat in the gents hanging off and no hot water, get just 1 star...
Just been for the first time since the refurbishment and standards have slipped in both service and quality of food. Just had a falafel burger and the 'hand cooked chips' were served in a pool of grease which was splashed all over the plate - and they were just cooked. Hard and unappetising - I ate what I could but left a lot. Asked the same questions within a minute of eachother by 2 separate waitresses, asked for mayonnaise but ketchup was bought and the wait was a good 40 mins- yet barely anyone there dining. Sandwiches with chips were nothing special but overpriced for £8.50- you'd get better at a small cafe for less than that. A bit embarrassed to have just taken my in-laws to be honest. Perk up New Forest- else you'll be losing quite a few customers.
We use this place regularly as a family and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately we went on a mon eve for a family birthday. There was no staff, no service the food was good as usual but the evening was not able to follow easily as the food came at separate time, the service even though we went to the bar was terrible(tho no one else was in the building) and removal of finished food and drinks was far and inbetween. Such a shame, would never recommend a group again
We attended Liam Whites Big Band evening the music was outstanding unfortunately the service we received as a group(9 of us in total) was very poor. Waitress took our order at 7,40 We waited for our starters for 35mins after we gave our order. When the starter arrived it arrived over the space of 5 min! Not wanting to eat cold food the first people started their starter and when the last ones came out the first starters were finished! We then waited another 30mins for our main course. We waited 15mins for our sweets. We asked to speak to the on duty manager and was told there was no manager working tonight! We finished our meal at 9,45
Very poor service last night, one dinner sent back due to chicken being raw and bloody in the centre, and cold steak pie, no coleslaw with a dish that clearly offered coleslaw as a side. Staff walked past and kept their distance as my niece choked and consequently threw up, no offers of help or a mop to clean up.
Parking was packed, but didn't seem to be enough people in the pub or garden to warrant all those cars.
Lovely building and gardens. Steady flow off customers.
Booked but no table allocated. Sent from one area to another to get it sorted.
Easy to order meals at the bar, but drinks is another matter. Ignored for quite a while.
Meals arrived quickly. Chips with burger where definitely reheated.
The Pies and Battered fish were reported as being good.
The Mushroom and Spinach lasagne was awful.
Doubt we will visit again.
Lovely building , menu had a very poor choice , plus expensive ( milking the new forest location ), waited too long for food and it wasn’t even busy . Not impressed . Sorry .
Waited an hour for the restaurant to open with a very hungry toddler. Ordered our food to then be told that they couldn't provide our meals (ham egg and chips & macaroni cheese) so got refunded for the meals as nothing else on the menu looked very appetising but still charged for the drinks that we ended up leaving to go elsewhere for food. Not a great visit
Very nice pub, staff started off very friendly offering us all food choices and menus, ordered off the bbq menu asked for a normal beef burger and an mint burger but with no salad in the bun, waitress comes over with my husband burger and what she said was another plain burger for someone else in are party, to return with another burger saying the burger she had handed out as actually the plain mint burger which by this time the other person in our party had put salt over the chips and tom sauce in the burger, so look a bit shock when I explain I didn’t want the burger she had given out wrongly!! She said she can ask the chef to re-mark, I was slightly shock as it was like it was my fault she given out the wrong burger? She return and said the chef will make another one I explain I would like the coslaw with the burger it was just the salad I didnt want in the burger to which she said that was fine! A another member of staff came over and said the burger would be 7 mins is that ok? Well we don’t really have a choice do we? When he came with the burger no coslaw which had to ask for again and not once did anyone say sorry I shall not be returning or recommending this pub to anyone!
