Today’s dish for our Hot-Pot and Pint Night is Berkeley Estate venison sausage, vegetable and red wine casserole served with crusty bread and butter. £8 including a pint and is served until 8pm.

Today on keg we have Barley Wine 7.5%. A big, fruity strong ale by #tileysbrewery. It has a huge malt bill balanced with English hops and dry-hopped with a dash of mosaic. Brewed right here at the Sally.

Today’s third dish - Sage and lemon griddled pork tenderloin from our own Gloucester Old Spots, served with rosemary roasted new potatoes, honey roasted carrots and parsnips, minted savoy cabbage and a cider gravy.

Today’s third dish - Aberdeen beef burger topped with mature cheddar, relish and gherkin, served with hand cut chips, coleslaw and a balsamic dressed salad.

Today’s third dish - Tiley’s beer battered haddock fillet, served with hand cut chips, minted mushy peas, spiralised courgettes and tartare sauce.

The Sally house band (Sally and the Hamonites) will be playing in the front bar of the Sally on the third Thursday of every month (except this one). Expect screaming fiddles, rattling banjos and heaving accordions with some traditional Irish jigs and reels! As Shane MacGowan once described it, it’s “heart, b*lls and feet music”!! Music usually starts about 7.30pm.

One of the few things that we love almost as much as beer and cider here at the Sally is cheese. Being based in Berkeley we are also steeped in cheese-making history with the town once famous for being the cheese capital of the county (Double Berkeley anyone?!). Given this, we’ve decided that we need to celebrate, nay worship, our favourite booze accompaniment on a monthly basis. Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you The Sally Cheese Club! Our resident cheese connoisseu...r Jerry (no, not a cartoon mouse but actually a cheesemaker for the legendary Jonathan Crump) will take all you fans of fromage through a hand-picked selection of world cheeses that would make Wallace and Gromit wet themselves. Jerry will be pairing each cheese with a sample of perfectly paired beverages from some of the world’s finest beers and ciders and some alright wine as well. Sally Cheese Club will run on the last Thursday of every month starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14 each (available to book in advance now from the bar) and include a selection of and introduction to six different cheese and drink pairings from our man Jerry.

The late afternoon/early evening Sunday session in the Sally is one of our favourites. Sunday lunch is all washed up, you’ve kicked out the relatives, Saturday’s hangover is starting to clear and before you even start thinking about another working week, there is just one last treat to squeeze in. Time to get out of the house, have a brisk walk up to the Sally and sink a few relaxing pints with friends sat by the warm fire. Well, those Sunday evening sessions just got even be...tter since we found hand-clapping, foot-stomping, ivory-tinkling, Elton John-eat-your-heart-out, piano playing legend “Mike The Piano” (OK we’re not sure what his surname is). Mike is the most gifted pianist and can it seems, pretty much play any number you ask guys for (“Do you know your monkey’s stolen my pint? “No but if you hum it…” etc etc). American Pie, Crocodile Rock, Hey Jude, you name it and every fortnight he’ll be here to play it (and we’ll probably butcher it trying to sing along). The Sunday Sally Singalong is brilliant way to round off your weekend and is well worth delaying Mondays for. Music starts at 6pm.

The Simcoe Pale Ale 5.0% by #tileysbrewery is back on our keg line! A single hopped American pale ale with a piney, resinous hop character. Heavily dry-hopped for a big citrus aroma. Brewed right here, at the Sally.

Friendly, helpful staff, and oh yeah, they have their own brewery out back.

What more can you say? Simple...a bloody great community drinking house which does everything right.

We went to the Sally for lunch today and I don't think I will ever need to eat again. We had chicken, chips and coleslaw and it was absolutely huge and delicious. Nice change from a Sunday roast and we will certainly be going back again.

We visited on Sunday for a late lunch with family & were all very happy with our meals and couldn't resist the delicious desserts. The staff were so friendly & very accommodating to us all, especially our young children. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

We travelled from Norfolk on our way to Cornwall and what a perfect place to start our holiday.

The Ham In Ham is perfect and the real ale was to die for.

My only moan the coffee was rubbish get practising lads

Love the warm country feel in this little gem, and great landlord, very welcoming. Fantastic selection of ales and stouts. Can't wait for their own to get going. If your ever I the area drop in and enjoy.

No food had, but the ale was exquisite.

Plus, some excellent impromptu live acoustic music! Fabulous atmos, ambience, ales & all-embracing welcome x

Just popped in on our way back to Berkeley and had the warmest welcome. A fabulous pub which I probably shouldn't extol too enthusiastically - Ham's best kept secret!

I would highly recommend this place for all. I had a blast. The Staff & Patrons were like Family! Thank you for a Great English Experience! I can't wait to return.....

I have come home.The best beer in the whole wide world, not probably, definitely.I have informed my children too spread my ashes in the beer garden.Nuff said.

Dropped in for a swifty. A fine pint of Tiley's Ordinary and a cheese and onion bap. Proper job! Could have easily put my feet up and had a few more. �

Bustling, friendly and concentrating on the important things: fabulous line-up of beers and ciders, simple menu properly done, successfully welcoming locals, cyclists and walkers alike. The pub entirely deserves its star billing in CAMRA's pubs of the year Top 4!
