We have now successfully got our drinks licence and can now sell alcohol, so for all of you who like a glass of wine with your meal or a beer we can now accommodate you, also not forgetting a nice glass of ice cold Prosecco with your cream tea. 🍾🍷🍺πŸ₯‚

Feeling thirsty? Us too! Thankfully we have the lovely Luscombe Organic soft drinks range to cool us off in this stunning weather. Why not stop on by our gorgeous courtyard garden to enjoy the sunshine and some refreshment.

I was wondering what cake to make today! I looked outside & saw the beautiful sunny day, which made me feel happy so I thought that I would make a cake to compliment the day, A Vegan Lemon cake with a buttercream frosting (Ve of course) seemed to fit the bill just looks so fresh and sunny, so why not come and sit in the garden and enjoy the sun, a piece of sunny cake and a cup of Yorkshire tea. Alternatively you could always take a piece home. πŸ˜‹

Opinions please! We have been trialling our new pork platter and people loved it! Should we offer this as a permanent summer menu item?

User

Now summer is underway, why not visit our beautiful courtyard garden to enjoy a cream tea, or why not push the boat out and have an afternoon tea party with your friends? It's a lovely little sun trap! 🌼🌹🌞

I would just like to promote Zoe of Cocoon in Buckfastleigh, she is a masseuse and has a quirky little shop which sells lots of different things for certain aliments, also some super gift ideas for birthdays etc. she is a very warm welcoming person and will give you lots of advise on her therapies. I have been to see Zoe recently as I have a trapped nerve & she recommended that I have a course of Bowen Therapy, I have now had two treatments and cannot stress enough how this has helped me tremendously, from not being able to hardly move to getting back to my normal active self. I would thoroughly recommend that it you have any aches and pains to go and give Zoe a visit & see if she can help.πŸ˜πŸ˜€

Looking for something scrummy to eat over the weekend? Why not pop in to try one of our freshly cooked pies. Chicken pot pie is creamy and made with fresh chicken breast, and our vegetarian cottage pie is rich and suitable for vegans too. Both cooked fresh to order. Delish! πŸ˜‹

My partner & I turned up mid afternoon on Saturday after a lovely trip on the South Devon Railway steam train from Totnes. We're both vegan & were pretty hungry & we hoped to find something we could eat in Buckfastleigh.

A quick nose on the internet took us firstly to 'The Seed', but unfortunately, food was scant. However, kindly, on their generous recommendation, (& a rave review of a certain vegan & gluten free Lemon, Blueberry & Almond cake), we found ourselves at the Singing Kettle, a gorgeous sensitively decorated listed building with two big Inglenook fireplaces, we immediately felt at home & settled down next to the log fire.

The soup, (there will always be vegan soup on the menu we're told) had finished, so we plumped for a pot of tea each & were lucky to get the last & 'Queens Slice' of the aforementioned cake to share & blimey was it good! Fresh blueberries, zesty lemon, moist yet substantial light texture & with a vegan cream cheese topping which was utterly masterful. We agreed that this was one of the best cakes we had ever had, (& believe me, we've eaten quite a few!). We had vegan sausage sandwiches with red onion chutney afterwards, which set us up just right.

The cafe owners were so kind, welcoming & accommodating, which always makes a big difference for us. It was very reasonably priced too. We chatted veganism and were heartened to note that the Singing Kettle will be expanding its vegan offerings as soon as they can finalise their menu. We wholeheartedly recommend this cafe & hope that it is a roaring success. It definitely deserves to be!
