Chicken Supreme With Green Beans Crushed New Potatoes & Gravy

Went on the 20th October, it was really busy but managed to get a table for 2. Waited 40 minutes for food but definitely worth the wait. We ordered the pork & Apple sausages and the Hake. Both dishes were amazing. The service we received from our male waiter was second to none. Didn’t get his name but an older gentleman who was very professional and friendly.

Really impressed and will be returning.

We went on Sunday for mother's day and had a superb meal, even though it was really busy the service was top class

We had my wife's 50th Birthday meal there for 24 people. The food was excellent and served quickly (but not too quickly), the staff were all friendly and really helpful. I would highly recommend it.

We didn’t book and popped in 1.30 on a busy Sunday ... didn’t realise full menu wasn’t available and really fancied a roast anyway!

Was outstanding, and we were both stuffed ... told we would have to wait but we’re served within 20 mins. Will return

Warm and friendly atmosphere, staff welcoming and nothing too much trouble and the food was excellent. Would definitely return and definitely recommend!!

Visiting from FL, I had the best crust Pie; sweet potato, chestnut and goat cheese. Just spectacular! My friend who is a resident and regular patron was non-plussed with this order of fish & chips which is usually great. Squishy, cold and fish was almost burned (dark brown) but cold. Even as a newb to UK F&C it was a mankey looking chunk of fish. Second order was great beautiful golden fry, piping hot and crispy chips. They gave us a discount as apology for the cold plate. My food was great and regardless of this 1 time issue I'll definitely be back with my husband.

The food was was of an amazing quality , staff all very helpful and polite , a very positive experience coming here for the first time would definitely recommend.

The food was fantastic the place is well decorated and staff was brilliant the menu has excellent choice can't fault it will be back very soon

Popped in on the off chance of getting a table for Sunday lunch .. seated immediately upstairs as downstairs was packed, drinks arrived swiftly and sunday roast not long after and for under £10 no complaints here ! Large portions and beef was lovely, would recommend this place and will go back again :)

Our first visit to the Stables today, despite being busy we had a delicious lunch served by friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us, we’ll be back & will tell our friends too - thank you all, Evie & Andy

My daughter & I had a lovely time here in the ambient & informal surroundings,we were made most welcome by the friendly smiling staff who couldn't do enough to make us feel relaxed, the food was excellent and plenty, will certainly return in the near future!

Came here today as we looked online for food whilst in Exeter, chose yourselves and were glad we did. We were greeted by a very friendly blonde lady who i should have asked her name � had a lovely chat and ordered our meals. Which were a little large but very nice indeed. We shall be coming here again.

Been there a few times now and yesterday was our Anniversary so we thought we would treat ourselves to a top meal. We were not disappointed and the mushroom starter was the best I have ever had. I will try and recreate it but I don't think I can. Well done chef. I was stuffed at the end of the meal

Beautifully simple but very well crafted menu. Love the options to go big or small depending on appetite. We all enjoyed our meals in beautiful and relaxed surroundings. Attentive staff and the chef clearly has a flare for really good flavours. I had the turkey and ham pie and the gravy was to die for. �

Been a couple of times always had good meals. went last night wasn't too impressed steak came out bloody asked for well done. waitresses were lovely and sorted quickly. husband had trio of meats. all came out pink again steak ask for well done.

Nice setting and staff were really nice. Order our meal I had the sweet potato and mushroom lasagna, partner sausage and mash. Started eating my meal to find sweet potato raw and the middle very cold like it had been cooked from frozen !!! Took it straight back and the staff was very helpful and replaced it with a prawn baguette unfortunately by now I had to eat my lunch by myself as my partner had eaten his. It was a shame this happened as I was looking forward to trying something different as it is hard to find good vegetarian food. My advice to the chef would be probe your food. Like I said the staff were very helpful in sorting the situation out and I will try the place again.

Great service and friendly staff. Food was hot and came out in a reasonable time.... but the stables burgers(we had 2 on our table ordered) were a hard ball shaped meat, not remotely burger shaped, and as the relish was put in as well the bun was soggy instantly so had to use a knife and fork to eat it rather than the way a burger should be eaten.

Such a shame as I like the Stables but can’t recommend it.

What a shame, normally great service & fantastic food but this time a real let down.



Sirloin steak that was tougher than rump, servers insisted it was a sirloin and basically implied I didn’t know the difference. Not impressed.



Thank you Michelle for the treat, just a shame about the quality of the food this time. Hopefully it’s just a one off.

We booked a meal for five people at 7:30 for our sons birthday.

“Sit down at your table and and we’ll take your drinks order shortly” the barmaid said. Sat at our table 15 minutes later no one had served us so we went to the bar and the barmaid told us she’ll be at our table in a few minutes to take our drinks order.

Again no one came to our table so we went to the bar and purchased our own drinks.

At 7:55 a barman appeared and told us the food will be half an hour late as they are running behind.

At 8:30 we still had no service and no sign of our food and no communication or apology.

We decided to wait an extra 10 minutes and still with no sign of our food at 8:43 we paid our drinks bill and left.

Clearly under staffed and with no communication.

Not recommended guys!
