Under to the latest Govt guidance and in addition to staff precautionary isolation (due to vulnerable family members) and lack of stock, I will be unable to open today. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone today for a final time before the uncertain future but I’d much rather keep everyone safe and well, than to run the risk. I am emotionally exhausted and the whole team are overwhelmed with the sheer love and support we’ve received! I could never express how gra...teful I am to each and every one of you who have donated or taken the time to leave such beautiful messages ❤️ Take care, look after yourselves and please learn from Italy’s mistake, and take this seriously for the sake of the vulnerable, not just ourselves. I have to say that I have been completely overwhelmed with the love and support that has been pouring in through facebook, my phone and in person today. It's been such an emotional day, highlighting to me just how lucky I am to have The Toast Office situated in Whitley.
I have never been one to beg or to ask, but I have received a message to highlight a 'just giving' page that has been set up. I am swallowing my pride with this post, but if it give The Toast Off...ice an extra boost to increase its viability and to support my incredible staff, I'll do it. Never when I opened The Toast Office did I think the day would come that I would have to close. But here it looms. It's such a heart-wrenching decision to make but I am too proud to see this place go down in a bad light. As some of you may know, things have been slow for a while and as much support that we have received from some incredible customers & friends, we have been gracefully treading on thin ice. Unfortunately, with the Corona Virus in situ, our sales have taken su...ch a hit that I am unable to remain open and so we will be closing, this Saturday 21st March at 3pm, for what could very well be, the last time. There is some hope that with a sufficient step up from the Govt, we may be able to re-open, but that all remains unknown for now. I can not stress how truly lucky I am to have such a loving and supportive team here, with each and every one of them beaming the good vibes that customers have known us to hold. I wish and hope that Saturday won't be the last time to hear the front door bell ring as someone enters. This virus only highlights the vulnerability of small businesses. So if I could ask for anything to be taken forward from this, please let it be that you support your local businesses as much as you can, now & after this virus clears. I will be in all day tomorrow (Thursday) & Saturday, so if you're well and able, I'd love for a little 'hello' to keep us all cheery! 🤓

*UPDATE* In light of current circumstances, I wanted to assure you that we have implemented further measures to ensure that we can serve our customers in the safest way possible. To give you an idea as to what we’re up to, here are some of our creative solutions!
✔️ We have removed some seating to ensure a greater distance is kept between people, not forgetting that we have outdoor seating too.... ✔️The Café front door is propped open to remove people using the door handle. ✔️We’ve replaced the sugar pots with sachets and will provide sanitised cutlery with each meal. ✔️We’re religiously wiping all surfaces/handles etc with disinfectant while minimalizing all contact where possible. ✔️Finally, we also offer takeaway so if you don’t fancy staying, you can still have your healthy fix of coffee and cake! 🍰
We’re doing our bit to keep all risk minimal, so you can still enjoy the same Toast Office experience you’re used to 😊
