Hello everyone
The Youth team are still working with young people during the refurbishment.
Some of our sessions are taking place in community venues and we are offering off site activities.
... We are also engaging with young people using street-based and outreach youth work.
For info about Wednesday’s Junior Club and our other weekly activities Tuesday to Saturday please ring us on 01803 208449 or email us at youthservice@torbay.gov.uk

UPDATE ON FUTURE OF MYPLACE START OF BUILDING WORKS
In April 2018 it was agreed by Council that its Medical Tuition Service (MTS) would relocate to Parkfield to sit alongside the youth service and other community services based at the site. This co-location would provide an opportunity to bring in other funding sources to help maintain and run the building effectively and safeguard its sustainability.
... The MTS would complement what is currently on offer from the site having majority use of the building during the school day, with the Youth Service and the community groups continuing to use the site during the evenings, weekends and school day. The front of the site would continue to remain open and accessible to the public at all times.
As outlined in the Information Sharing Event last September, this proposal does not require any additional building, however, minor alterations are required to the internal layout of the MyPlace building and a small amount of external works including some modest fencing and landscaping. Planning approval for the scheme was granted in January and a contractor has now been appointed to undertake the works. The works will be starting shortly and are expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
During this period, for safety reasons, the Youth Service will be temporarily moving out and the building will have restricted access. To minimise any service disruption it has been agreed that the works will be phased and the building handed over as follows:
11th March Contractor Starts - Restricted access to rear of MyPlace
28th May Phase 1 Complete - Handover of Sports Hall & Toilet Facilities
Mid July Completion of Project
1st September Official Opening of MTS
Please note that the following facilities and access will remain open and unaffected throughout the duration of the building works:
• Climbing Wall • BMX Track • Skate Park • Pedestrian access through the site from Colin Road car park to Lower Polsham Road

The Youth Service and the Young Carers Service hosted their annual Christmas Party on Saturday 15th December 11.30am to 3.00pm at Parkfield.
It was free and open to young people aged 8 to 17 years who have a caring role for a sibling or a parent and for young people who are members of the Centre.
It was a great success with over 80 young people attending.
... ⚽️🥅🍰🍡⛸🎹🎤🎅🏻
We would like to thank all our supporting partners who made this day so special by providing the following:
The Roller disco from Revolution Skate
The climbing sessions from Reach Outdoors
The Penalty Shoot Out delivered by Torquay United
The full roast Christmas lunch provided by the Lions Club of Babbacombe and St Marychurch
The arts and crafts provided by Imagine
The goody bags and hello from Santa provided by the Lions Club and Brixham Soroptimists.

I don't know what has happened at Parkfield, but I took visiting family there, complete with bmx,to find the place padlocked! There was a youth worker who told us that the people who run the climbing wall were there this morning, but he didn't know where they were now. There was a few kids there on scooters on the skatepark, but the bmx track was completely deserted. This was built up to be a world class attraction, please explain
