Officers from Trowbridge Community Policing Team 3 attended Staverton House Care Home this morning to collect a number of 'Trauma Bears' which had been knitted by the local residents as well as their friends and families. 🐻🐼 These bears are kept in police emergency vehicles and are given to help support children involved in traumatic incidents such as road traffic collisions and domestic abuse. Thank you to all the residents and staff at Staverton House and PC Aimee Jenkins for organising. 👏

Two teenagers have been arrested after a car key burglary in Trowbridge in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Police were called at around 1.30am yesterday (9/6/19) about a group of around six or seven teenage boys seen acting suspiciously outside a house in Helliker Close.
Officers attended and spoke to the owner of the property, who confirmed there had been a break-in and car keys and a vehicle had been stolen.
... While they were taking details, a collision, involving the stolen car - a blue Toyota Yaris - was reported in Leisler Gardens.
Although the driver and any occupants had fled the scene, police carried out a thorough search of the area and located three teenagers on bikes who cycled off from officers.
All three were chased on foot and two were arrested, while the third managed to evade police.
A 17-year-old from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
A 15-year-old from Trowbridge was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent and possession of a Class A drug.
Three bikes were also seized.
The two teenagers have been released on conditional bail while we carry out further enquiries.
Acting Det Sgt Ted Roe, from Melksham CID, said: "We have been carrying out house to house enquiries and collecting CCTV footage, but we would urge people living in the area to look through their cameras or dash cam footage to see if they recorded anything which could help us with our investigation.
"We would also like to use this opportunity to remind people about the importance of home security - these types of burglaries are very often opportunistic.
"Offenders are looking for unlocked doors and open windows, so please make sure you are locking up when you go to bed at night."
Anyone with information should contact Melksham CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54190055224.

We are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked unconscious during an assault in Trowbridge.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking with his girlfriend along Bradley Road, between College Road and Holbrook Lane, shortly before midnight on Monday (27/05/19) when they were approached by a group of between five and seven men.
They asked him for some tobacco and, while he was getting this out of his pocket, one of the men punched him in the face.
... He was knocked unconscious and went to the Royal United Hospital, but was discharged later that morning.
PC Francesca Archer, from Wiltshire West Community Policing Team, said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
"We believe this group of men came out of one of houses in Bradley Road and this appears to be a completely unprovoked attack.
"We know there will have been cars driving past both before and during the incident, so would ask motorists to think about whether they witnessed anything suspicious, or if they have any dash cam footage which could assist with our investigation."
Anyone with information should call PC Archer on 101, quoting crime reference 54190051170. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

A Trowbridge woman has been jailed after pleading guilty to harbouring an escaped prisoner.
Debra Kerr, 52, of Summerleaze, appeared in Salisbury Crown Court yesterday charged with the offence.
On May 21, 2018, serving prisoner Tony Crowley, 35, was reported to have escaped lawful custody at HMP Sudbury, Ashbourne. He was serving a life sentence for a series of robberies whilst in possession of a firearm.
... The same day, Kerr travelled to the prison, collected Crowley, housed him at her address in Trowbridge and kept him from being recaptured and taken back to custody.
While Crowley was living with her, Kerr’s behaviour caused those who knew her concern, and information was reported to police.
On May 31, armed officers attended her address where they located Crowley and his partner in the living room.
Crowley was arrested for escaping from lawful custody and has since been returned back to custody.
Yesterday, Kerr was sentenced to six months imprisonment at Salisbury Crown Court.
Det Sgt Rob Blake said: “Kerr’s actions were completely irresponsible and as a result, put herself and the public in Wiltshire at serious risk. Crowley was serving a life sentence for armed robberies and is a dangerous and prolific offender who had the potential to cause harm to our community.
“Kerr went out of her way to hide Crowley and assist him in his attempts to escape prison and evade police, and I am pleased that we have been able to put her before the courts and they have imprisoned her for her dangerous criminal behaviour.”

Two people were arrested and a quantity of cannabis seized following two simultaneous drugs raids in Trowbridge and Warminster.
Officers executed warrants at addresses in Bisham Lane, Trowbridge, and Folly Lane, Warminster, on the morning of Thursday 9 May 2019.
A 36-year-old man from Warminster and a 27-year-old woman from Bath were arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and have since been released under investigation while our enquiries are continuing.
... More than 200 plants and around 3kg of dried Class B drugs were seized from the addresses, as well as a quantity of equipment and drug production paraphernalia.
PC Sarah Greenman, from West Wiltshire Community Tasking Team, said: "This activity was part of a wider investigation into the production and dealing of drugs in the two towns.
"We know the community is concerned about illegal drugs activity and anything we can do to take the products off our streets and protect vulnerable people has to be a good thing.
"It is important to point out that drug dealing is not a victimless crime - it is often linked to wider criminality, including anti-social behaviour and violence.
"We would urge anyone who has information about the production of drugs or drug dealing, to report their concerns to police."

We are re-appealing for witnesses after a man suffered facial injuries during an incident in Trowbridge over the weekend.
We were called to Fore Street at around 3.30pm on Sunday (12/05/19) and the victim, a 27-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment for a large cut to the side of his face. He has since been discharged.
A 39-year-old man from Trowbridge who was arrested shortly after the incident has now been released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue....
Det Sgt Adam Fleetwood-Brown, from Melksham CID, said: "We have spent the past few days carrying out a thorough investigation, including a detailed search of the town park to try to find further evidence.
"However, we still need to hear from witnesses who may be able to help us with the investigation.
"This assault happened in the town centre on a busy Sunday afternoon and we know there are people who saw the incident happen and who know who is responsible.
"We know the people of Trowbridge are concerned about knife crime, and this is something we at Wiltshire Police are taking seriously. However, we cannot do this alone and we need the public to help us and tell us what they know.
"We completely understand that some people may be nervous about speaking to the police. However, I want to reassure you that the information you give us can be kept in strictest confidence, or even anonymously if you prefer."
Inspector Andy Fee, from Wiltshire West Community Policing Team, added: "We know this incident will be concerning to local people, but I want to reassure you that we have responded swiftly.
"All the information we have tells us that this was not a random attack, but involved people who may be known to each other. There is nothing to suggest there is any risk to the wider public.
"However, we have been increasing patrols in the town centre to provide reassurance for local residents and businesses."
Anyone with information should contact Melksham CID on 101, quoting crime reference 54190045382. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
