About Westbourne Fire Station

Welcome to Westbourne Fire Station's page. We hope to give you an insight into the life of the station, incidents we attend, training & equipment. This station is crewed 24 hours a day by Wholetime Duty System (WDS) staff.

Westbourne Fire Station Description

This station is crewed 24 hours a day by Wholetime Duty System (WDS) staff. It has 28 Firefighters, 8 Crew Managers, and 4 Watch Managers split over 4 watches (Red, White, Blue and Green).

To ensure we can respond safely and effectively to all types of incidents we train whilst on duty. When we aren't responding to incidents we also undertake prevention activities such as Safe and Well checks.

We may need Community Volunteers - so please get in touch if you think you have what it takes and want to make a contribution to your community.

Westbourne Fire Station is home to the larger of the two Aeriel Ladder Platforms (ALPS) in Dorset. It has a working height of 32m and can deliver 3800 litres of water every minute from this height.

A boy, aged 11, was lucky to escape serious injury when his tablet overheated and burnt his bed after being plugged in and left under the covers overnight. Always put phones and tablets to charge on an appropriate surface and away from flammables credit to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue

With the weather set to warm up for the weekend we are asking the public to be vigilant and by following these few simple steps we can all help to reduce the chance of a wildfire in the countryside.”
🚭 Extinguish cigarettes properly, don’t throw cigarette ends on the ground or out of car windows – take your litter home. 🆗 Avoid open fires in the countryside. Always have them in safe designated areas. ☎️If you see a fire in the countryside, report it immediately to the Fire & ...Rescue Service. Early detection can prevent it from developing into a large wildfire incident. 🆘When calling the Fire and Rescue Service: 🔸 Get to a safe place, 🔸note the fires locations, 🔸 call 999, 🔸 meet the Fire and Rescue Service at the entrance. 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒Don’t attempt to tackle fires that can’t be put out with a bucket of water – leave the area as quickly as possible.

Only the sprinkler head(s) directly affected by the intense heat from a fire is triggered. Sprinklers do not cause flooding in buildings as depicted in some movies!
