We are deeply saddened to announce that Gerry, one of the three giraffe here at Wild Place Project, died over the weekend.
Gerry, who was four-years-old and the tallest of the three, had an extremely rare blood condition called thrombocytopaenia which was diagnosed by our vets last year. This meant that he did not have enough platelets and his blood was unable to clot.
Although last year he responded well to treatment, his health deteriorated again in recent weeks and this t...ime he did not respond to treatment.
Gerry arrived at Wild Place Project in May of last year from Amsterdam. He was a gentle giant and very much loved by our staff and volunteers at Wild Place Project and by all our guests.
His team of keepers have done an amazing amount of work in training Gerry to be able to receive the medication he needed, and we are all devastated by his death.
Gerry enchanted everyone who met him; he had a very friendly and inquisitive nature and was the first to wander across when he saw people standing by his enclosure.
This is a very difficult time for the keepers, staff and guests who were all fortunate enough to meet and work with such a wonderful creature. We all feel we have lost a friend and we will always remember him.

Our ring-tailed lemurs are showing us the true meaning of #NationalRelaxationDay!

What an AMAZING day out! My daughter had a junior keepers experience, and it was brilliant!! She loved every moment of it! Danielle (our keeper) was knowledgable and fun and took us around the park, I fully understand why this experience is booked up for the year!! Keeper experience apart the wild place is a lovely little zoo, great animals and other interactive things too! Canā€™t wait for the bear woods to open next year,weā€™ll definitely be back!

User

What a lovely place. I will definitely be visiting here again. The staff were helpful and informative and also very polite. The animals are kept in lovely conditions and the set up is good for visitors. Plenty of toilets on the way round too......phew.

Weā€™ve just returned from a 2 night stay at Camp Baboon. Not knowing much about the Wild Place Project before we arrived was good as we learnt so much and came home appreciating the work and efforts being made both here and on many projects abroad. The animals are the happiest Iā€™ve seen in a zoo environment with a high focus on nature being left natural. Close encounters with the animals after the park closes was great. It was quiet, and the animals were calm and curious. Never had such an up close and personal experience like this before. 1 night would have been plenty of time to see it all but our extra day enabled a free inclusive visit to Bristol Zoo which was amazing. Iā€™d recommend this experience to everyone. Time in the outdoors was long overdue and a very close encounter with a fox in the woodland walk was amazing!

User

We've been members for last couple of years, after watching The Wild Place start from scratch. It's now a lovely wildlife park where me, husband and 2 boys love to visit on a regular basis. We came last night for The members event The Bears are Coming, we all had a great evening, lots of activities laid on which didn't have to pay extra for. Also the animals were all out to see us. Looking forward to the bears coming next year. Great work everyone at The Wild Place! Xx

User

We visited on Monday 16/07/18 and had a fabulous day for all the reasons listed in all the other reviews. It is a place geared up for the animals and we enjoyed having to sit quietly and wait for them to be willing to come out and be seen. It is immaculately clean everywhere and all the animals look in prime condition. All the staff were very friendly and informative. Only negative comment concerns the cafe, which I urge the management to review. Drinks are expensive and our food took ages to order and to arrive. It was incomplete and after a reminder they produced an inedible cheese sandwich, something I thought was impossible to achieve! There are lots of nice picnic sites provided on the park which we would use in future.

User

We stayed at Camp Baboon this weekend and would totally recommend it. Although the snow deterred the animals slightly from saying hello it did not deter us or our wonderful guides Matt, Emma and Becky who did a fantastic job of making it a really fun and informative trip. The cabins are snug and warm, the welcome is friendly, the whole thing was run very well. Take appropriate clothing and have a whole load of fun

User

We enjoyed a night in a glamping pod at Camp Baboon this week and we all loved it. Very magical, knowledgable hosts, fab bush craft activities and animal experiences, we especially loved the lemurs, giraffes and butterfly maze. Camp Baboon, we think you and your hosts are amazing, especially Andy & Toby ļæ½ļæ½ Good luck with all of your conservation projects and saving the animals ļæ½ļæ½

User

The keepers and the volunteers are very knowledgeable and very happy to talk to the public making it a warm and welcoming place. The enclosures are built to suit each animal and their natural behaviours whilst still allowing the public to observe them in their natural glory. There is plenty to do at the venue but I prefer to be quiet and patient and watch the animals when they do appear. Spent ages in the rain yesterday watching the wolves. I took loads of photos and videos and even more time watching. Video clips of the wolves ļæ½ added in the comments!

User

Such a brilliant place to spend the day. The animals are well looked after and so much time and effort has been put into the enclosures for them, to make it as much like their natural habitat as possible. It is very reasonably priced and you know that the money you spend there will go to the welfare of the animals and their needs, not to an array of other things. I have been here before and went again today. Each time it has improved and is a highly educational place. I visited the Noah's Ark Zoo Farm on the same day and was very disappointed. It's double the price and the enclosures are unkempt in comparison, not trying to match the animals natural habitat in any way. I would recommend The Wild Place to anyone looking for a fantastic day out for someone who cares greatly about the care of animals in captivity.

User

Often come to wildplace me and my boy love it. Came today and fell on my ankle which Turned out to broken. Staff were brilliant very helpful and even give us return tickets even though my fall was no fault of wildplace just an unfortunate accident. As I said we often come here and have always recommended to people but will do more so after today. Excellent staff and animals are excellently cared for

User

I've been fortunate to travel to Madagascar so loved the Lemurs here. You can sit so close to them & watch them go about their day. Great layout of park... Very educational for all ages. I would love to have children to bring here to get wild & muddy. Very thoughtful layout ...will be back for an overnight stay. Well done to all involved had a wonderful day out.

User

I visited for the first time on 07/04/2018 on my own and I really enjoyed myself. I love how undiscovered it is and that itā€™s a project ongoing. Itā€™s a great place for kids and older generations alike. I will remember to wear wellies next time though so it was very muddy and wet but I really enjoyed it and thought the price was good for what you got. My favourite place was the lemur walkthrough and the giraffe viewpoint. Will visit again in the near future no doubt

User

I took my 6 year old lively son here for the first time today and we both loved it. Lots of woodland adventure to be had whilst admiring the animals and the high swing experience topped the day as being one of the best. Definitely recommend, especially on a dry weather day and particularly suitable for children with mass energy levels. Staff great. Well worth the entry cost. Will be back soon.

User

I had a great time here the kids were so excited about going and really enjoyed the experience. The staff were very friendly and great couldnā€™t help you any more and being a vegetarian the food was acceptable in fact non veggies were eating my food, so annoying. I would recommend this especially if you have kids.

User

I bought 2 annual passes in January for myself and my granddaughter, WE love it šŸ˜. Best thing I have bought in years as we make it our adventurous day out or even just for a couple of hour.

User

First visit to wild place project yesterday! Went with my partner and two children (aged 6 and 4) Great value for money at just over Ā£30 for us all! So many great animals there (the giraffes being a big favourite of ours) so much stuff to do for the kids, a few park type things dotted around the park, the foot trail type thing the kids absoloutely loved!! Going round stamping things off to what animals weā€™d seen etc, great time was had by all! Will certainly be returning

User

Every time I come back itā€™s got better! I love the new entrance as the shop entrance was a bit chaotic! The animals and all the enclosures are done so cleverly! Love it!!

User

Visited here today for the first time and was surprised at how close you could get to the animals. The enclosures are designed perfectly to give you optimum viewing but are much bigger than you would see in other wildlife parks which is so lovely to see! The only thing we couldn't see was the Wolves ļæ½ļæ½ I waited around 30 minutes but they didn't appear. Disappointing for me but amazing habitat for the wolves who can roam far and wide. The staff were all friendly and gave interesting talks about the animals. We arrived at the Cheetah and Lemur walkthrough just as they were being fed so got to see them all up close. Lots of parks and activities dotted around for the children to enjoy on the walk round but would advise to wear wellies if it's been raining as there was alot of puddles and muddy paths. Cost Ā£33 for 2 adults and 2 kids to get in so was reasonably priced compared to other's ļæ½

User

I wonder if you could tell me your timeframe for installing a Changing Places toilet for disabled children & adults? Your one at the zoo makes a massive difference when we visit - making things much less stressful for us as a family and much more dignified for our disabled daughter. The average Changing Places facility only takes up the room of an average parking space!
