Hi all, Hope you are all keeping safe and well. Just to let you know that I am standing in the Co-op National Members Council Elections for Yorkshire and the Humber. If any of you Barnsley Youth Music and Drama Festival follower would like to vote for Me - Dorothy (Dot) Miller - I will endeavour to continue to support the Co-op communities in our area. Dear All We have received a number of enquiries regarding our festival, due to commence 30th March 2020 with regards to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. Having listened to the current advice from the government jointly with guidance from the Festival Federation, we have had to take the difficult decision to postpone our festival, in the interests of all concerned, until later in the year. We are considering rescheduling to early October when all classes and entries will r...emain unchanged, regardless of age category limits. Further information will be issued in the coming weeks. As a responsible organisation we do hope you will understand the decision taken and hope to welcome you to our festival later in the year.

CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT The Barnsley Youth Music and Drama Festival would like to confirm that with regard to our Festival and the ongoing problems surrounding the Coronavirus that it is business as normal - but with an increased emphasis on the promotion of frequent and prolonged hand washing and good personal hygiene (as at all other public gatherings). We would ask all Festival attendees - in whatever capacity - to take the necessary precautions to assist in everyone being kept as safe as possible over the course of the Festival week.

The syllabus for the popular annual Barnsley Youth Music and Drama Festival is now available for prospective music and drama entrants. Although entrants come from many parts of Yorkshire and the Humber this annual Festival takes place at the Emmanuel Church, Huddersfield Road, Barnsley S75 1DT from Monday 30th March to Friday 3rd April 2020, culminating in a Grand Finale concert on the Friday e...vening. A hard copy of the syllabus can be obtained by contacting the Festival Administrator on 07903171428 or email info@barnsley-ymdfestival.co.uk. Alternately why not visit our website on www.barnsley-ymdfestival.co.uk where you are able to download the syllabus and application form or complete the application form on line and learn more about our Festival. Please note that as a result of some schools restricting older pupils from attending the Festival during school hours, the Festival Committee have agreed that all Junior classes will now take place in the afternoon (2pm onwards) with classes for the older children being scheduled out of school hours and running up until 9pm from Monday until Thursday. Classes for Friday will commence during the day and there will be a break before the Finale Trophy Winners concert commences at 6pm. However, this will all depend on the number of entrants in each class and may not always be possible where the younger performers are competing for the same trophy as the older performers.
THE CLOSING DATE FOR ENTRIES WILL BE STRICTLY 1ST FEBRUARY 2020, SO PLEASE DO ENSURE THAT YOU GET YOUR APPLICATIONS TO US IN ORDER TO COMPETE IN THIS WONDERFUL FESTIVAL.

It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that our special friend Marione Brown saddled passed away Peacefully in hospital with all her family round her last Sunday after quite a battle against illness throughout the summer.
The funeral arrangements are as follows, Tuesday 15 October, 2.50pm Barnsley Crematorium, Doncaster Road, Barnsley S71 5EH, followed by tea at St Thomas Community Centre Church Street, Gawber, Barnsley S75 2RL.
The family have requested no flo...wers but there will be a donation plate and all donations will be for Lung research.
All Marione's festival friends are welcome to attend and her daughter and family would love to meet you all afterwards.
