Went tonight with a 40% off main meals voucher. Haven’t been in ages as last time we were really disappointed. Thought we would give it a try (obviously the voucher helped !) and we were very pleasantly surprised. Food was good , partner had steak which was a good cut, no fat at all and cooked to perfection ! Well done ! Have definitely put this place back on our list !!! Staff were great too. Worth visiting �

I am from and live in London....but actually have been here a lot (as I have family who live near here) ...I always find it to have such friendly staff and really lovely food!

And if they do get something wrong they have apologised or refunded something.

Kids love the soft play too!

Had my sons 5th birthday party here today... exceptionally lovely party helpers called Courtney and Stephanie :) :)

Nothing was too much trouble for the girls. Lovely food and play area......

Came in for lunch with my wife. We went for the three course lunch meal deal. For £21 including some soft drinks we thought the food was delicious and fantastic value. All with friendly service. Will definitely call again.

A huge thank you to all the staff today that helped to put together calebs 5th birthday party. Nothing was too much and all the girls went above and beyond!! Loved every minute of it 😊

3 friends and I came for a prebooked Festive gathering today and I was so impressed with everything the poached Salmon a large fillet was lightly cooked to perfection as were the sugarsnap peas broccoli brussels fine green beans the mash creamy and buttery hollandaise . My friends enjoyed the Lamb shank and Combo all perfectly cooked and presented .The Bailey cream profiteroles coated with dark chocolate on Vanilla icecream were so yummy too With a Friendly and welcoming professional greeting and waiting Staff A pleasurable service I highly recommend a visit thank you Well done to the Chefs and Kitchen team ��

It has been a while since I've been to Lock Keeper for a meal, we went on Friday as it was my birthday, reserving a table was easy to do online. From arriving to leaving the service was fantastic, food was lovely and we'll worth the money. The only thing that I could say slightly negative was the drinks were really expensive. I am definitely going back xxx

me and my wife used to eat here all the time. but lately found the food to be just ok. we took our 15 month old grandson there yesterday and had to pay three pounds for him to go in the play area. my wife paid and took him in but there were lots of older children in there and he was scared so she brought him straight back out. waste of three pounds. it should be free for a limited time if you show proof of a food order. the menu is the same thing all the time they add new meals very rarely. we are looking for somewhere else to eat around chesterfield now.

We arrived at 5pm, and decided on the carvery, as 2 of our party ordered from the main menu, we waited until their meal arrived before we went up to the carvery. My partner had a slice of Turkey & a slice of beef, I asked for beef & was only given one slice which on hindsight was probably for the best The beef was dry & tough, there was just a handful of roast potatoes left & they looked very unappetising. Good choice of vegetables, & we were offered new potatoes instead of more roast potatoes, but overall a disappointing experience. We overheard other customers being told that the carvery was finishing at 6pm. Had we been aware of this, we would probably have not opted for the carvery. However I do think that the food offered on the carvery should be of the same standard whatever time it is purchased. Unlikely to return.

The pub itself is nice and plenty to do with young children and the staff were friendly. However, after being told there was a 30 min wait on food (which was fine as it was busy) our sons food arrived 10 mins later. He's only 2 so ate it up but ours didn't arrive for another 25 minutes. Our 1 year old shared with her brother as she was hungry and was watching her brother eat. I don't mind being told a 30 minute wait but for us it's important to eat together especially with young kids who don't understand. Overall this made the trip quite stressful as by time our children had eaten we couldn't have ours in relative peace. The side was also missing which we had to ask for again. We don't go out for meals much but when we do we expect better organisation.

And it's not like you can explain to a young child that they can't go in when your sat right next to it. Kids meals are so small. My partner had the chilli and I thought they had brought a kids portion by mistake! Literally less than 10 mouth fulls. Went home hungry and very disappointed. Won't be going back.

No-one came back to check if all was ok, And having two small kids waiting and to help feed we didn’t manage to attract anyone’s attention. Plates were cleared 15 mins later, only comments were they would tell the chef. A few minutes later we were offered free desert but didn’t take them up on the offer as everyone was grumpy after the meal and didn’t want to stay longer.



We usually visit about once a month and eat in the soft play section where the staff are really great. Today we paid our £6 to get into soft play but even after waiting 20 mins no tables became available so moved into the restaurant. I hope this was a one off with the bad food, but does put us off coming again.

Waitress told us there could be a wait for a table. She went off to look and came back within seconds.. "This one is free..just needs clearing"she said. Hardly rocket science as the table was right in front of us..

Very cramped..4 chairs around a very small round table and we only needed 2!

Sun was glaring through blinds..we could hardly see. Very very noisy..not ideal place for a quiet drink and meal.

Ordered food and then told a 40-50 minute wait..!!! Why wasn't we told this before ordering? Scampi,chips and a teaspoonful of bland garden peas. All of it frozen food.

Waited for an hour and 20 minutes for cold sides and rubbery steak. I complained 3 times about the wait for food. No apology or offer of refund or reduced bill. I eat at brewers regularly with working away from home and I have to say this is the worst one so far... and I still have breakfast to look forward to �

One star is far too much in my opinion gone down hill big time, size of kids portions now is a joke they wouldn't fill a baby, standees size apparently they use a cook book with portion sizes weights in � only place I know that douse that and how come they seem smaller each time you go, toilets absolutely disgusting too no lock on door, broken taps witch spin and spray you and not very clean either, staff don't seem to care, I took photos but can't put them on here or I would. I don't know one person who has a good thing to say about it. Won't go again I'm a hurry ����

If you have a choice - go somewhere else. Service is really bad. I eat there for over a week while on a business trip and been very disappointed. The food served doesn't look like the one on menu photographs; they make you wait for food for over 30min occasionally even up to 45min (will be lucky if they serve you at all as they had forgotten about me and eventually left without the desert for which I have waited for over 30min without arriving); food when it eventually arrives is missing parts of the sides described in the dish; the place is either over booked or understaffed. While eating there I saw people reporting cold food, late service, uncooked food... Avoid if you can or only eat after 9.00pm if you can hold your appetite for so long!

If i could leave a zero i would unfortunately. I came in with my 4 children. I ordered chicken tikka,3 of my children ordered child's curry and 1 ordered childs hotdog. I found plastic in the chutney on my meal so i gave the plastic to a member of staff (who couldn't apologize enough)my 6 yo then found plastic in his curry so this time i found a manager and gave it to her and explained i had found it in my meal also. She offered me another meal but explained i didn't have time as my son had an event to get to to raise money for charity (singing).she told me they were getting it sent off to be tested( in other words clearly didn't believe me even though i handed her the plastic) none of my children ate their meals in fear of eating plastic but no refund was offered no nothing!!! Not my first bad experience with them but can definitely assure you it will be my last! Never again will i set foot in here. Its disgaceful!! Anyone thinking of going here don't waste your money!!
