About Dolphin Spotting Boat Trips
We are now taking bookings for 2020, book online: www. newquayboattrips. co. uk trips begin March 28th. We are located at the seaside town of New Quay in Ceredigion, west Wales, we offer 1& 2 Hour Boat Trips along our beautiful coastline to spot dolphins.
Dolphin Spotting Boat Trips Description
DOLPHIN SPOTTING BOAT TRIPS (New Quay), Wales SA45 9NW
We offer both 1 hour and 2 hour boat trips and operate 7 days a week (Weather Permitting). We have two purpose-built passenger boats which are fully equipt with life-jackets and rafts to safely take you along our protected coastline. Trips depart from the historic pier at New-Quay and head two miles down the coast to Cwmtydu (1hr trip) or four miles down the coast to Ynys Llochtyn (2hr). On the trips you will journey past grey Seal haul-out areas and bird colonies where you can see a number of sea-bird species (and a few rare species if lucky). If you are fortunate to encounter dolphins along the way your skipper will slow down or stop. The Bottlenose Dolphins in Cardigan Bay are a protected species. We show respect for them by strictly operating in line with the marine code of conduct which states we are allowed to stay in their presence for 10 minutes. This allows us to give passengers the best encounters with wildlife without causing them any disturbance or jeopardizing their safety.
Our trips are suitable for all ages and dogs are more than welcome on board our Ermol boats.
The ERMOL V (2hr) boat has a toilet and cushioned seating, both boats have a canopy covering 3 /4 of the vessel for rain or sun protection. Both boats can offer wheelchair boarding by arrangement for a limited number of customers per trip (due to space).
We also offer 2 and 4 hour Fishing Trips on the Dunbar Castle 2 - Suitable for all levels of experience with rod, tackle and bait all provided. Group bookings & Boat charters available.

Caught today on our 1:20pm 2 hour fishing trip with skipper Nathan Enright and crew Connor Williams. A 15 pound bull huss. They had to use the net to get that one in! Special thanks to Simon Marden and family for coming out and for the photo! ****PLEASE NOTE***** All of our trips are weather depending - our trips are not affected by rain, we have a a large canopy covering 3/4 of our boat which will keep passengers protected from the elements (and of course dolphins do not mind the rain) however we advise to please keep a regular check on the current weather forecasts as certain wind speeds and directions can affect the length and operation of certain trips.

First trip of the day and so far Dolphins, a grey seal and possibke sighting of a harbour porpoise. This day gets better, not only a big yellow disc shaped object in the sky but an unobscured horizon, flat calm seas for the first time in a long time. Is the summer coming back ??? Went out on a 2 hour boat trip with Sarah and John. First time at the bay. And had the most amazing time. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Both Sarah and John are so lovely warm and friendly hosts. We saw quiet a few dolphins and stayed in an area for a while so we could watch them. Will be back again such a memorable experience. Totally enjoyed every minute thanks guys keep up the great work <3 :-)
Went on the 10.30 2 hour boat trip on Sunday. It was brilliant. The crew were great fun and very knowledgeable. They showed great care, compassion and respect for the wild life. They encouraged everyone to be thoughtful and respectful while keeping the tour fun and very enjoyable. They had activities for the kids to keep them entertained and even allowed children to steer the boat if they wanted to. We saw dolphins, seals and a variety of birds. The coast line is just beautiful too. Perfect trip for all ages пҝҪ
We've just returned from a wonderful holiday in New Quay, one of the highlights has to be the one hour trip we took Ermol 6. It was fantastic. The 2 gentlemen that took us out were friendly and so knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. They went above & beyond to make sure we all had a good & safe trip and to top it all off we were lucky enough to see dolphins - absolutely priceless пҝҪ
We went on the 2 hour trip and the dolphins were playing hard to get. We seen lots of nesting birds and was given some very informative information. On our way back we spotted the dolphins and Jonathan dropped the underwater mic into the water and we actually heard them talking. That was amazing. It was like we had invaded their world.
I would higly recommend this trip. Jonathan and his crew made us all feel very welcome aboard and they were very knowledgeable.
Took my wife out for a one hour trip on Monday. Weather was stunning and, despite the absence of dolphins and seals, we had a great time. It was very informative and there were some lovely people (and dogs) aboard.
Just finished going through my photographs at home, but am certainly not posting them here as the quality (and focal length) are no match for the professional photographs already on display (I can only dream of getting that close). Thanks again, we will be back for more.
Lovely hour long trip this afternoon where we saw lots of active dolphins plus an inquisitive seal. Also viewing the beautiful coastline with numerous nesting birds. The staff told us about the local area and all the smuggling activity in the past. Thoroughly enjoyable for all ages and at affordable prices compared to some other boat trips within the cardigan bay area. Totally recommend.
I have to say a huge massive thank you to your team for a lovely evening on your 1 hour boat trip tonight! My daughter and son have seen tv programs about Dolphins in Florida; and they wanted to go there on holiday to see them... not only Florida is a long long way but certainly out of our budget пҝҪпҝҪпҝҪ it was a last minute decision to surprise them after school to go looking for dolphins; actually finding some was amazing!! You have made a couple of kids dreams tonight and you have saved me a fortune and just being 20 mins away!! Thank you so so much пҝҪпҝҪпҝҪпҝҪпҝҪпҝҪ
Fantastic fantastic fantastic!! Had a brilliant morning out on Ermol V and we were so lucky to see loads of jumping dolphins, crazy amounts of jellyfish, some breathtaking scenery and a few sunbathing seals! We honestly could not rate this trip and the crew highly enough - definitely something you should do in New Quay. Don't think about it, just do it - you won't regret it пҝҪпҝҪпҝҪ Amazing experience пҝҪпҝҪ
Amazing trip out today with Jonathan and Sarah! I have been waiting months to go on one of these trips and I can definitely say I wasnвҖҷt disappointed! Before we had even boarded the boat we saw dolphins in the harbour, lots of information whilst we were out and Johnathan made special effort to stop or slow the boat so everyone could see and we had opportunities to get pictures!
Went out on a 2 hour boat trip with Sarah and John. First time at the bay. And had the most amazing time. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Both Sarah and John are so lovely warm and friendly hosts. We saw quiet a few dolphins and stayed in an area for a while so we could watch them. Will be back again such a memorable experience. Totally enjoyed every minute thanks guys keep up the great work <3 :-)
Went on the 10.30 2 hour boat trip on Sunday. It was brilliant. The crew were great fun and very knowledgeable. They showed great care, compassion and respect for the wild life. They encouraged everyone to be thoughtful and respectful while keeping the tour fun and very enjoyable. They had activities for the kids to keep them entertained and even allowed children to steer the boat if they wanted to. We saw dolphins, seals and a variety of birds. The coast line is just beautiful too. Perfect trip for all ages пҝҪ
We've just returned from a wonderful holiday in New Quay, one of the highlights has to be the one hour trip we took Ermol 6. It was fantastic. The 2 gentlemen that took us out were friendly and so knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. They went above & beyond to make sure we all had a good & safe trip and to top it all off we were lucky enough to see dolphins - absolutely priceless пҝҪ
We went on the 2 hour trip and the dolphins were playing hard to get. We seen lots of nesting birds and was given some very informative information. On our way back we spotted the dolphins and Jonathan dropped the underwater mic into the water and we actually heard them talking. That was amazing. It was like we had invaded their world.
I would higly recommend this trip. Jonathan and his crew made us all feel very welcome aboard and they were very knowledgeable.
Took my wife out for a one hour trip on Monday. Weather was stunning and, despite the absence of dolphins and seals, we had a great time. It was very informative and there were some lovely people (and dogs) aboard.
Just finished going through my photographs at home, but am certainly not posting them here as the quality (and focal length) are no match for the professional photographs already on display (I can only dream of getting that close). Thanks again, we will be back for more.
Lovely hour long trip this afternoon where we saw lots of active dolphins plus an inquisitive seal. Also viewing the beautiful coastline with numerous nesting birds. The staff told us about the local area and all the smuggling activity in the past.
