It's an 80's spin on Saturday at 11am. Katie's back and she's got a new playlist🚴🏼‍♀️🎤🤘🏼

User

Aquacise is cancelled Wednesday morning, we are contacting anyone booked on right now. It will be general swimming instead.

We booked the pool for my daughter's birthday party (today) and I can't thank the staff enough for how helpful and friendly they have all been.

Everything was perfect from the pool itself, the giant inflatable, the changing rooms, the cafe area and the play area and of course the staff themselves.

The big thank you of course is due to them accommodating us having an entertainer in the pool (a mermaid) which several other local pools had refused outright.

My only minor niggle was that well after the pool was supposed to be closed to the public there were several hangers on watching my child's party which was annoying and also prevented me from setting up the food in the cafe area. But, minor niggle, everything else was perfect!

User

Me and my husband joined in april when it re-opened and love it! The studio sessions are great and varied, gym is much improved. Obviously the pool could have done with a refurb but you can only do so much. Changing rooms/showers are much better. Cafe good, gives you somewhere to wait if husband is doing something in the gym and my class has finished. My only gripe is allowing people to smoke at the entrance, so you have to walk through it when going in, doesn't look good for a fitness centre.

User

Love the new refurbishment, it's been a long time coming. Finally feels like it's been brought into the 21st century. Nice clean feeling when you walk into reception and a massive improvement with the changing rooms. Love the idea I can grab a coffee and still see my son have his lesson. My personal opinion regarding swimming lessons is not the decor of the baths,it's the quality of the teaching. It doesn't matter which swimming baths your children are taught at it will always be inconvenient to some, there are plenty of times when lessons aren't on and you can just go for a general swim. All 3 of my children have learned to swim at eckington, they've now got a skill for life. That skill came from knowledgable, conscientious swimming instructors not the colour of the tiles!!

User

Just done the 11am Spin Class and it was brilliant, great music & the energy & enthusiasm from the instructor carried me through a challenging but enjoyable class. Loved it.

User

I am so happy about the increase in classes now available due to the new studio. It is something Eckington was missing and provides a new service to the town. The changing rooms are so much better. I love the changing cubicles in varying sizes and the fact there are plenty of showers (6 i think) in individual cubicles as well as the four open showers. The reception area looks great. I can't comment on swimming lessons as my girls go elsewhere but I have been swimming in the pool while lessons are on, and from an adults perspective it did not have a negative impact on my swim. I understand disappointment with the poolside being the same as it was before the refurbishment. Personally i am glad the money has been spent on the studio, changing rooms and gym as they offer extra services to the community.

User

Had our sons 8th Birthday party here today on the inflatable. The staff were fantastic and everyone had an amazing time. Thanks so much!

User

Friendly staff. & as a cover Instructor coming in from the outside to a lovey warm (& sweaty) welcome. Very impressed with the hard work & energy of the members in class. Thank you & hopefully see you again one day.

User

Fit ball class every Tuesday what can I say I love it kat is a lovely lady that pushes you to do things you never thought you could. If you fall that's fine it's all about finding that balance, laugh it off and get back up. I've not missed a class for this yet and I hope you keep it on. Gives me something to look forward to everyweek I'd like more classes like this. Thanks kat

User

Not a good start i got so many phone calls asking me are your children definetly starting swimming with us and that payment had to be made on the 6th march, which was nearly 200pound for 3 children for swimming lessons upfront. I turned up on the 13th march for my sons lessons to be turned away as it was not open, no phone call etc to say it was still closed. This week i did get a phone call to say it wasnt opening again, but come on 3 weeks ago you was happy to take nearly 200pound off me with no mention that the opening may not go ahead. Really dissapointed and fingers crossed it will open by time our next swimming lesson is due otherwise i will taking my children elsewhere!!!

UPDATE..my boys had their first lesson last night i was very impressed with the staff and also the added bonus of having swim instructors in the pool with the kids. Well done after a rough start i am more than happy for my kids to carry on attending.

User

Me and my family love swimming here and kids love there lessons however my youngest has had to stop now she is in full time nursery as they wont allow her to leave early for lessons. I really do think you should consider trying to fit a lesson for the otters for 1 day straight after school time i think it would be very popular now alot of children do full time nursery and i would definitely be there. Please think about it.

User

I'm very happy that Aqua Jog and Aqua Fit has restarted but the only problem is the times have changed to 9am which is very difficult for a lot of people, you are battling with the rush hour traffic, it took me almost three quarters of a hour to do what should be at most 15 minutes. People with kids to drop of at school just can't make 9am so they can't come. I was speaking to two women in the pool that used to come to Aqua Fit and Aqua Jog but had not been because of the start time, they said it was just too early for them when it used to be 10am so they came for a swim to see what other people thought.

It seems that no one is happy with the far too early 9am start time. Alison is a brilliant instructor but her numbers are down due to the times of the classes, such a pity it not suitable for, from what I've heard.....everyone

User

A great start for Eckington ! This is a site that can draw the whole community. I'd probably agree that the pool needs more work. My daughter's swimming is hardly impacted by the pool changes- but there is more to this than kids swimming. We have a community space in which to develop our mind body and spirit. We can work out, swim, meet, grab coffee, dance, do yoga. It's SO much easier to moan about what didn't get done this time, than to recognize the new opportunities right on our doorstep. Let's embrace the positives and let go of the negatives- there's enough of that already don't you think?

User

The place looks spot on since the refurb but for anyone who works full time swimming is pretty much off limits considering all late slots are wiped out by lessons. Their ought to be at least a couple of lanes open until 9 at least 3 times a week, or better still Open until 10 and possibly even subsidise cost of late swimming (see Staveley). Can't please everyone but I only live about 150 meters away so it's a shame to drive, even just to Staveley.....

User

Finally has Family changing rooms. 30+ years in the making and then they close the only pool worth taking families and smaller children. I cannot see the sense in that. It completely defeats the purpose as the area given over in the large pool is less than adequate.

If cost is the concern. They have cut out a large proportion of regular business. As families will just go to dronfield which suitably has both facilities.

User

visited today with my daughter and disappointed was an understatement got no info from reception on arrival about the pool being cordoned off for lessons, we were penned into a small area of the pool in the bottom corner, god knows where all the money has gone because the pool was in the same state as it was on closing, dirty broken tiles, parents walking round the pool in outdoor shoes, couldn't hear your self think for teachers shouting in every direction, the changing rooms are ok but 4 showers are not enough and when there were 4 running there was no water pressure so we had to take it in turns to turn the shower on. the café was closed so went to the vending machine got a decaf white coffee with no sugar ( diabetic ) and it came out full of sugar when I mentioned it to the receptionist she looked at me as if to say what do you want me to do so we just left and will not be returning

User

Was looking forward to working out here until the miserable receptionist talked to me like crap and told me there wasn’t memberships for students as it said online. I won’t be coming here again as I don’t really think I should be spoken to like I’ve done something wrong for enquiring about a membership.

User

Turned away from a swimming baths I have previously brought both my children swimming by myself as now I am apparently not allowed. Two disappointed children. Spent a lot of money at eckington teaching one of my children to swim, but now seems to have been a waste as I can’t ever bring her to have a swim!

User

My daughter has re-started and will very promptly be stopping her swimming lessons at this venue. The idea that children will be able to be taught to swim in such a small and cramped space is reprehensible. Children are spending too much time stationary in the water or in the case of the older children walking on the pool side for it to be considered an exercise in teaching. The decision for the pool to be divided into 4 uneven quadrants, so that they can have swimming lessons and general swimming on at the same time is fuelled by greed and in no way serves the children who are there to learn how to swim. As someone who used to swim competitively for Eckington Swimming Club it makes me very upset that this is how they choose to 'teach' the next generation of swimmers. I would in no way recommend anyone to have lessons here based on how it is currently organised. I hope that for the development and learning of others that Eckington revise and change their current setup.

User

Just updating my review due to the a very disappointing visit to the Inflatable session with my daughter and friend. This used to be brilliant, but today it was a catastrophe waiting to happen. The lifeguards were not controlling the number of children on the apparatus or their behaviour once on it. One male lifeguard seemed to find the whole situation amusing! (At least he was watching). Therefore, there were massive pile ups of children and most of the boys were pushing and shoving and pulling others off the equipment. There was a huge size difference between some of the children and ours found it intimidating and unpleasant. When we complained someone came out to speak to the poolside staff, but it had little effect. It used to be so good and we were regular customers - It only needs a whistle system and staggering the pairs of children allowed on at one time. Also just time out the kids who aren't following the rules and simply watch both sides of apparatus! I hope they improve it before someone is injured.

visited today with my daughter and disappointed was an understatement got no info from reception on arrival about the pool being cordoned off for lessons, we were penned into a small area of the pool in the bottom corner, god knows where all the money has gone because the pool was in the same state as it was on closing, dirty broken tiles, parents walking round the pool in outdoor shoes, couldn't hear your self think for teachers shouting in every direction, the changing rooms are ok but 4 showers are not enough and when there were 4 running there was no water pressure so we had to take it in turns to turn the shower on. the café was closed so went to the vending machine got a decaf white coffee with no sugar ( diabetic ) and it came out full of sugar when I mentioned it to the receptionist she looked at me as if to say what do you want me to do so we just left and will not be returning

Was looking forward to working out here until the miserable receptionist talked to me like crap and told me there wasn’t memberships for students as it said online. I won’t be coming here again as I don’t really think I should be spoken to like I’ve done something wrong for enquiring about a membership.

Turned away from a swimming baths I have previously brought both my children swimming by myself as now I am apparently not allowed. Two disappointed children. Spent a lot of money at eckington teaching one of my children to swim, but now seems to have been a waste as I can’t ever bring her to have a swim!

Just done the 11am Spin Class and it was brilliant, great music & the energy & enthusiasm from the instructor carried me through a challenging but enjoyable class. Loved it.

Thanks kat
