Just a quick update below for patients as to what constitutes an essential or emergency treatment. If in doubt I’m happy to have a chat to advise you or respond to emails (I currently have quite a bit of time on my hands 😀 so it’s not a problem).
*How likely is it that a failure to receive podiatry treatment will result in NHS treatment and likely stretch precious NHS resources further and unnecessarily ?
*Is the risk to your health due to... no Podiatry treatment demonstrably greater than the risk of you potentially contracting Covid-19?

Good Morning
As of Monday 23rd March all appointments are cancelled except for emergency and essential treatments.
If you are in an at risk category (we all are) I strongly recommend you weigh up the risks of attending for treatment versus not.
... If you need help with this decision or any advice over the coming weeks please contact me if I haven’t already contacted you. My doors may be closed but my ears are not. If not stay healthy and I'll see you when this is all over.

The clinic has had many calls over the last 24hours enquiring if we are still open.
Currently we remain open, but this is assessed in a daily basis. If we do close and you have an appointment you will be informed the day before. We are still operating a strict ‘1 out, 1 in’ policy and ask you to follow government guidelines.

In line with the new government and Public Health England advice, we should all now all take steps to reduce social interaction and the over 70s and vulnerable are advised against any non-essential social activities.
Podiatry clinic’s are classed as an essential health service and as such Crookes Chiropody/Podiatry will remain open to patients. Some patients appointments may be routine and therefore classed as not essential and with this in mind patients may want to reschedul...e their appointments, especially patients who need to take public transport in order to attend. Ideally what we don’t want to happen is for a routine appointment to be cancelled now and in 2 months time (for example) serious problems to occur because routine treatment has not taken place.
Please be assured that a policy of one patient at any one time within the clinic is now in operation (unless accompanied by a carer) along with strict hygiene protocol and personally limiting social interaction for the last 3 weeks.
This is a difficult time for all of us. If I can offer advice via phone, text, email or FaceTime I am as always available.
Kind and healthy regards
Elizabeth at Crookes Chiropody/Podiatry.

More appointments have been added to this weeks diary to the meet demand of people wanting treatment before any potential isolation restrictions are imposed.
Please be assured that this will not impact on the clinics hygiene control and we are still asking people to arrive no more than 5 minutes before their appointment to avoid contact with other people and allow cleaning to take place.
As well as my usual protocol, I will also be taking my temperature daily.

Due to recent events I’m hoping this will provide reassurance to those who need it. For me this is the standard but always a good idea to have it written down.
Patients: If you’re unwell; sickness, cough, temperature etc it’s always best to reschedule your appointment with as much notice as possible. I would also ask you to arrive no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time so as to avoid congestion in the waiting area. If you need to cough / clear your throat or bl...ow your nose (as is sometimes needed for reasons other than viral ones) please do so into a tissue (this will then be disposed of) or the crook of your arm.
If you’re experiencing any symptoms that you are concerned about please seek medical advice.
On my part I’ll be taking the same hygienic precautions as I do every day;
✅ handwashing ✅ alcohol gel ✅ disposable gloves / masks ✅ disposable aprons ✅ all surfaces anti bac wiped between clients ✅ fresh set of sterilised instruments per client ✅ clinic thoroughly cleaned at end of each day
Hand washing, alcohol gel and tissues will be available for you to use on entering the clinic.
Hope this information helps. Let’s all stay happy and healthy.
