We had a wonderful visit this morning by the Mayor of Barnsley to help us plant a WW1 Memorial Oak and unveil our Tommy and plaque to commemorate the centenary of the end of WW1. Lovely to see all the staff, councillors and volunteers together at the event...and we look forward to seeing the oak grow over the coming years...
The Soldier will remain in place til the end of November, then taken in, he will return each year at the being of November and will stand in Remembrance ...for the month.

"We will remember them".....
What a fantastic place this is. Love how all the climbing frames are ideal for children aged 3 and up compared to other Park were there more for older children. Full day out of fun and a lovely clean well looked after place. We will definitely be coming again and recommending to others.
Went there with my neice after it was recommended. Thought it was lovely, really good play area for kids, plenty of places to walk around and the cafe was great food, very reasonably priced. And, for me, I'm going to go back and try out the pitch n putt at some point!
This place is a joy to visit, I come a few times a week mainly to see and hear the birds. Feeders are put out in the dell and hedges and I recently spent an hour watching Great tits, Blue tits, Robins, and others with binoculars.
Essential visits for good mental health reasons, always makes me feel present, alive and grateful and helped me recover from depression. The trees, the birds, the sky, the benches, the reservoir, the bandstand (excellent concerts in spring/summer)
I feel lucky to live nearby, and would love to get involved if any help is needed.
This park is just the best. So much to see and do. The cafe Tee Cup is run by such wonderful people and the ice cream is to die for. The gardens and band stand area are the most prettiest in the country. The little stream is just the best place for Pooh Sticks xx
There are so many beatiful things about elsecar park I dont know where to start. The bandstand and the lovely well kept flower beds and lawns are a delight. The children's play area and cafe are full of laughter and people having a leisurely drink or ice cream. The playing field has loads of room for a kick around or there's the golf course for a round or two. My favourite is the reservoir where I walk the dog and see all the nature at work.
Nice clean & tidy place we went for a nice walk & to feed the ducks with some duck & Swan food I had I've just ordered more as my Granddaughter realy enjoyed feeding them she loved the slide & the swings too
Me and my son go here regularly, it's a great park, including a basketball / football court. Along with a great traditional park with swings etc. We mainly go for the 9 hole pitch and putt, £2 per adult, £1.00 for the kids with a £1 refundable deposit per person. We have used the cafe on numerous occasions, reasonably priced. The staff in the café are always polite and efficient, there is also an ice cream unit which has lovely ice cream. The park grounds are kept very well and you can also walk round the reservoir feeding the ducks on your way. I would highly recommend this park for all ages
Lovely time spent with my daughter on a hot spring bank day. Enjoyed the crazy golf, park and walk. Disappointed in the toilets unclean and no soap or paper towels. Need to take a leaf out of Knaresborough riverside public toilets
Lovely place...kids love ever minute of it my only grip is the cafe! Well actually the food ECT is lovely but defiantly needs more friendly staff as found 1 staff member in particular very rude and stone faced! Maybe worth employing older members of staff which are helpful and friendly xx
Lovely place for picnic and walking dogs play area for kids cafe is good and staff r nice and friendly the only bad thing at the moment is the toilet area which is in real need of refurbishment and maybe toilet area at the bottom of the park where the other sand pit as younger kids don't always get there in time
Lovely park, my boys love it here x
Lovely park really enjoy going there x
Great for kids and café is lovely, lovely staff and real chips is always a bonus. Had cuppa tea warm mince pie with cream and a tot of mulled wine for £2.50 lovely xx
Go down here pretty regular with the pooch
Lovely walk round the park and the res.
Allsorts for kids to do and see.
Well kept flower beds and the cafe gets great reviews. Nearby Heritage Centre is also worth a visit.
Summat for all ages down Elsecar.
Elsecar park is a must have visit lots to do and the new cafe will be opening soon but you can still get hot & cold drinks + icecream me and my grandchildren love it
Elsecar is a beautiful park & offers lots of facilities for young & old alike. The heritage centre has a few shops that sell bric a brac plus the railway have occasions when the trains are running. I've been to a few 40s weekends which are held in the heritage centre . Both cafes have a good selection of snacks etc but the only downside are the public toilets which very dated.
We went yesterday for a walk around the park and it's a lovely park (I've been a few times now) - We were disappointed that the cafe wasn't open though (we knew it was a bank holiday, we just thought it'd be open).
One thing that is a pretty big let down for the park, though, are the toilet facilities which are horrible and seem to be a real throwback to the '70s - Money seems to have been spent on the cafe, playground and other facilities, but the toilets really, really need to be looked at. I've taken my children in there before (very, very reluctantly) and I daren't let them touch anything in there. Are there any plans to do anything with this block?
Lovely little park to take the grandchildren .
Love it here. I live local so it's beautiful to have on my door step.
One thing I will note is the child safe gates on the gates. My 2 year old daughter can push them open so think they need looking at.
