After a really positive meeting at Ibeerico* with the sign artist this morning, we had to take a break from being in the shop, after a couple of intense weeks of work. But, a change is as good as a rest, and we couldn't resist spending the afternoon trying to rescue this giant cleaver we found in the cellar.
Progress was slow and frustrating, but if we can get it polished up, we'll have a fantastic wall feature. Could this be a hint at the new name.....? 🤔

It might look like nothing has been happening with Ibeerico* since we took the signs down last Monday. Well, things have been happening out of sight, down in the cellar. Here's what we've been working on. A Jacuzzi. It'll be great on hot and humid weekends like the one we just had. Still some work to do. Can't wait to have a dip 😆

Why no announcement on the new name for Iberico Cafe? Well, we don't have a name yet, and "No Name" is already taken :)
We are working closely with a traditional Victorian hand-painted sign artist. In the coming days, we will be removing the old signage to see what we have behind the existing formwork. The the condition of that "canvas" will steer the decision on where we go with the future signage.
What we can say is that this is something we are not scrimping on because it ...is very important to us. This will not be another plastic sign on Crookes high street with a font from the Internet. We are using a local artist who paints all the designs by hand. The design will be unique to our business. It will be traditional and it will use natural materials - so no plastics, and no neon :)
In the meantime, we apologise if our shop front looks a bit of mess for a few weeks. We will do a proper job on it in the end. Literally, watch this space...

As part of the transition from cafe to micro pub, we have to trim down the inventory. If you haven't already been past the cafe and seen the sign, we are selling off loads of things we no longer need. Most of the small stuff will be in the window (cups, plates, bowls, glasses, kitchen utensils) but there is also some bigger items - some under-counter fridges, a huge deli display fridge, and kitchen appliances like a George Foreman and panini press.
We're in and out of the building quite a bit, but we'll be there most of Friday afternoon and the middle of the day on Saturday.
Come on down if you want some stuff. While you are there, say hello and take the opportunity to give us your input into the pub. Work hasn't begun yet, so it's a great time to share your thoughts and help steer the project...

On Monday the 21st of May, the lease for Iberico Cafe was transferred to us, the new owners. Iberico Cafe will cease to exist and in its place will be Crookes' very own micro pub.
It's going to be a long journey and hopefully you'll stick around for updates on this page. If you aren't interested, we're sad to see you go, but if you are excited, please share this update with your friends.

Terrific lunch today , Best hot sandwich make with a fresh sourdough bread,Spanich Iberico ham and Fresh taboulé on side..... REALLY WORTH A VISIT :)

Really lovely tapas lunch x has put me in the mood for Spanish holiday next week !!

Lovely people, great food, hot coffee and just a nice place what more could you want from a cafe :-)

Just sat outside in the glorious sunshine with an excellent coffee and biscotti. Can't wait to try some of the amazing sounding sandwiches next time!

I came for the hunky chef but I stayed for the Tortilla pizza, beautiful! The carrot cake is awesome too. Excellent Mediterranean style cafe.

I bought a chicken salad like 10 minutes ago and it's the best chicken salad ever!

Friendly, welcoming, lovely drinks and cakes. We haven't tried lunch yet but will, soon. 2 and a half year old granddaughter loved her Babycino (with marshmallows!) and Nutella cupcake, and was fully - and quietly - occupied with the colouring books, and reading the Gruffallo. We're so lucky to have such a lovely cafe locally!

Friendly staff and top quality food, strongly recommend!

First visit yesterday and will definately be returning - the food was absolutely delicious

Paid £3.95 for chicken and chorizo sandwich with mayonnaise and little gem, never been here before and thought it would be something special. How wrong could I be, chicken was just ok, funny red mayonnaise, chorizo so thin could not taste it so have no idea if it as in fact chorizo and all served on cheap sliced brown bread. Never again a complete rip off nearly £4,I could buy a whole chicken for that all cheap rubbish!! Added to which the service was really slow
